I really think we have our own Mattas in the organisation in a player like Pettersson. But regarding OEL, he is a C where he plays(Arizona, swedish national team…) since he was 26, A since 22 years. That means he brings a lot to the table beside the pure hockey bit. He got high hockeyiq so if he’s not injured he got no problem to lift any partner he gets. If it’s Hronek or Woo, whatever. He is a top 4D that don’t have a problem taking responsibility. What more do you want?

Chiarot took down anyone he played with was said in a post long ago. Probably in the tradeposting. OEL made Myers look good so he won’t have a problem to let Hronek reach his potential if so.

Pettersson might be the best of them

We can attack from both sides with Hronek on the team. As you probably seen with our attacks is that almost everything goes from the left side using Petey as a screen. With Hronek our strategies evolve to multiple directions that will bring havoc. Hronek means more time in offensive zone and less in defensive. Wich of our Ds are offensive minded(and good at it also) on the right side?

That means Schenn is too expensive for us. Or?

What? We needed a RHD that takes pressure of Hughes. Can Marino do that? Isn’t he a more defensive minded player? A defensive D is much easier and cheaper to get and especially fit in Tocchets system wich makes it easier for a lesser D to perform at a higher level.

If they have the same salary I probably go for Myers, only because he can actually destroy a player so they fear him. Schenn is tough but not frightening. We need someone that make the other team treat our stars as glass and Myers does that. Other wants Tryamkin for that reason. But here it is cap that is important. If Schenn is 1,5 and Myers 2,5 it’s Schenn.

Regarding Myers, if we try to sign him for 3 or four more years, is it possible to get him to sign for say 1,5 mill? He got that big body we know is necessary in playoff. He can punish the foul players. And he can be on third pair. We don’t care about penalties since Miller and Petey seems to like it.

You two is talking about cap problems. How does it look the coming season? How much over are or how much do you two think we’re over the cap?

Yes, and PA seems to believe Hronek is that guy. So if we change scenario to PAs vision we only have to pair up OEL with the right guy. So a 4th D is what is needed. If we have that player isn’t clear jet as Bear might not get a new contract, Poolmans probably off to unless he gets back from his injurie and our prospects But as I said, we have a whole season and more to know more. An injured OEL and no Hronek can give that impression. So add 2 top four D players into the mix and suddenly the future is much brighter. No, but as we have a cap that stops every team to be best in every area of the game you have to compromise. the left side is probably one of the best in the league. The right side, hmm Do you really think Dallas or Seattle has a d-core that is among the top 8 in the league and better than ours? Short minutes and he can retalliate if necessary.

Why get stuck on first and second? If Hughes and Hronek are separated and play together sometimes you can say we have a first LHD and a first RHD pairing. This is your problem you want a steady player to be an impct player… Why?

Well, why do you think Hughes need a babysitter when he is a monster himself? The problem has been that he was alone at the top. Now Hronek take som valuable minutes from his shoulders and make sure we have a PP2 that is lethal also. I’m not sure why some fans want our defence to be the best in the league. It’s not fair since we already got one of the best forwards group. Hughes can have his cheap partner. OEL and Hronek take the second pair minutes and it will be many if they don’t let Hughes and Hronek overlap a bit. Hirose, Johansson, Pettersson, McWard seems to be the cheap up and coming that takes care of bottom pairing together with the Abbyplayers that already played a fair bit. Why do you need an extremely good D instantly? We have a window of four years now that will be very good from season 24/25. So no stress this coming season. We can even have Myers sheltering a younger prospect and when we reach playoffs he won’t get penalties as easy.

So you only see Räty as young and cheap? Kravtsov, Hogz, Bloom, Johansson, Hiroso, Petterson and more…

Didn’t you see Dallas versus Seattle recently? Both is teams I really believe the Canucks win over in play offs. Petey, Miller and Hughes coupled with the new players/prospects like Kuz, Mikh, Hronek, Silovs take down teams like that. Just watch us next season.

I believe the main reason why Tocchet played Demko as much was to see if Demko could handle it or get injured again so Tocchet has to handle him like glass. Demko had been injured two times within a short period so it was a concern.

The coming season is about steady the ship. No impatient moves whatsoever. If we want to trade our players not wanted, we have to wait til oppurtunity knocks on the door. The seacond season from now is when the real window starts and by then we will see how good our prospects are and what areas needs bettering. So maybe before next draft we will see some impatient moves if we don’t get the necessary players within ranks or through clever trades.

I don’t believe it’s a good idea to play Demko more than around 50-55 games per season. Silovs is no. 2 already so he should play 20+ next season.

We have Hughes, Hronek and OEL(yes, he us a top 3/4 if not injured) so we just need to get a Schenn out of either the 7 RD-players we got already or trade for a cheap one. Schenn cost us and Toronto 850k. Then we have around 14 D to serve as 5/6 A 3rd C is more important for now but no rush. We have a season more to develop and try to get som good trades going. It’s the impatient GMs that loose in the long game… Look at Benning as a warning example.

Look at dallas and Seattle, both teams loose against the current Canucks. No need to tear anything down…
