Just ridiculus... Why retire without 5 mill? Would you do that?
And if he plays in AHL or Europe he doesn't have to bother about escrow wich is really high now due to Covid 19.
Fleury is really old and is already second on his current team.
What happens if Demko doesn't cut it next season?
Rely on Fleury?
6x5 on Marky and we got him for five years if not Seattle take him.
If we have him the whole period he's as Fleury after those 5 years.
I don't get why people here talk about goalies that either is to old or want too much(Holtby). If you guys want to cut cap, why don't you focus on goalies around 2 mill that really is a backup if you want Demko as no.1.
Clarke is much more important than Fleury.
And while we're at it.
How is the statistic between Marky, Holtby and Fleury?
I think we can trade Loui against Brown and Tierney. Their ownsers save 11 mill if so.
Then we can ship out Baertschi, Roussel, Benn, Beagle, Goldobin etc with a little retained and help them fill up the roster.
Why bring up MacEven? He didn't know how to position himself in the playoffs when the going got tougher.
So Loui and MacEwen is on different levels. Salary wise it's too many levels above but still... Loui is better than MacEwen for now.
Well, Loui was missed against Vegas.
When he plays his linemates get the chance to play as they want. As Horvat said himself.
It's odd but it's also a fact. Horvat suffers when he has to play more defensively.
You need different types of player on the ice.
If we go deeper into this it was Benning who signed him. Green that adapts a strategy that makes Loui redundant.
I trust Ian Clarks advice to Benning.
If he thinks Demko is ready to take over and be no. 1 for the next 2 years I'll accept that. But if not, give Marky what he want but protect Demko.
With Marky we can reach play offs with our current team withoit any upgrade. If Demko needs a few years before he reach that level why rush him and put a lot of pressure on him now?
No, a smart coach doesn't overload the hot goalie. Green should have trust Demko from the start and if we had lost the third game with Demko Marky had fresh legs and no injury.
It's not hindsight because it is what coaches use to do in back to back games. What we could argue about is if Demko should have started in game 3 or 4. My reason to let Demko start in game 3 is that the game isn't as important when we are 1-1 in the serie.
Demko made a lot of amazing saves.
Similar to what Marky has done a lot of times.
But why do you guys let Green get away with what he did?
If he had played Demko in game 3 we probably would have won the serie.
Well, I was impressed by Dallas in regular season when we met them. So I wasn't keen on battling against them in a serie.
But we got Vegas tired also.
Vegas have a $&!#ty work ethic as we saw in the second game. So they don't have the mentality to go all the way.
What's shocking with that? Here people say he played good when teamed with Edler. When he and Pouliot were together it wasn 't so good.
Look at Myers, it's the same there. Put Myers with Pouliot and $&!# happens... Myers cost 6 million.
This is just stupid because the coach has a mayor impact on a players career.
The player is hired for, often, what he achieved earlier. If the coach then put him in a different position making it impossible to reach the level he has before it's on the coach and the GM hiring him from the start.
We can talk about a lot of players that falls between two chairs.
If something, it should be easy to buy out players that don't fit the strategy of a new team. But stop blaming the players...
Yes, I only said when I believe Marky take a cap friendly deal. Maybe 5x5 is the bottom.
Hasn't Lehner worked with better defence in front of him?
Well, Green rode him too much. Back 2 back games is when Demko should have guarded the whole season.
With our defence and Greens strategy he got insane amount of shots over a long period of time.
Didn't he either set a new record for shots against or came close in this playoff?
