  1. I love what JB has done so far rebuilding this team, but his comments that he's not trading for futures at the deadline is concerning. This team is 1 game under .500 and as of today 25th in a 31 team league, and only 5 pts (if LA wins the game in hand) from 2nd to last and 5 wins ahead of being in last place in the entire league. I believe he may be thinking, with one more year this team will be 'good enough' to start turning the corner. He may be being blinded by the fact they are close to a playoff position (and ignoring how close we are to the bottom), but being this close to the playoffs is an aberration, the West is very weak this year. Being a few games over .500 is not a playoff team historically. I understand his desire to let the boys fight to make it in, but he also has to be objective and think longer term than just this year. I love this team, but we still have many holes and many players who will not be part of the long term solution / won't be here when we are ready. Not being a seller is repeating past mistakes. I am not saying tank, but you have to be open to moving players that may have value around the league if they aren't going to be part of the long term solution. If he doesn't try, I will give the JB bashers a point this year.

Ok I agree with your paragraph, but why is the fact that he said he's not trading for futures concerning? Unless there's context I'm missing he's just saying he won't be buying and sacrificing our futures right. I don't see the part where he said he wouldn't try and get assets for the limited few healthy ones we have?

i think he has moved some players out already

the actual tdl date is no longer what it used to be

so i do not think there is much value focusing in on it

not much happens on that date

fringe players are already being moved out

      gagner, mdz, nilsson...

      not much else to move

as we have injuries and contract restrictions with key vets

we have nothing that will net much of return

so not sure who you think still needs to be moved

who we could realistically move on

and moving schaller for a low pick does not really count

or some other fringe player ...

      and do keep in mind

there is an argument that jb has already been too aggressive

-we are so thin on our d grouping that maybe mdz would have been valuable if kept.. i mean .. what was the return for him?? not much value there

-and moving nilsson clearly was a mistake.. as team had zero depth when that happened, no one healthy in the ahl, and then demko gets hurt and we are down to 1 nhl caliber goalie who also needed a night off.. that trade netted us nothing...

moving out players just for the sake of roster change is not smart, and as we can see, the players that have been moved netted very little of return value
