This is fair but you're forgetting wooden sticks with no "illegal" curves that weighed 80lbs more and had no flex. You also had guys clutching and grabbing, elbowing, hooking, you name it, like no tomorrow. It was a different era and yes crosby would have been amazing back then, but you give player back then, all the same training, tools etc, who's to say gretz wouldn't have got 300 pts? I watched both and to this day, no one has ever played the game the way Wayne did and likely never will. It had little to do with equipment friend. If you watch his highlights, how he saw the ice, I don't care what era you're in, there has been no one better.

Unfortunate, but blindside hits will do that to you. Glad Guddy went after Getzlaf. This would suggest Zack is staying up!

We split his goals and assists lol! once we made that rule it would suck getting first overall because you wanted Gretz but then you had to think, will his assists still beat out the next best player? Petey is great and 'reminds' people of gretz in how he can see the ice and change the game in an instant but a for pure dominance I don't think any player can ever match that. He was just on another planet, it was like he was the best hockey player in the world playing against beer leaguers....I hope to see some kid do what he did, and beat it, but I doubt we ever will, even with the league changing, he was just once in a lifetime special.

The league is quickly moving back to a run and gun game, so 140 pts in a few years may not be unreasonable at all. The key in my view for him to reach that is his winger(s) have to also have great years, and he will need some very good Dmen who transition the puck well and can help him rack up on the PP. Are those players Boeser, Hughes, and Juolevi - maybe and hopefully. He clearly has 50 goal scorer hands and a shot so hitting that mark in his career should happen at some point, 60 is just 'one of those years' and therefore could occur. The harder part is the 80 assists, that needs a team who's scoring bushels full, and therefore, a few players who also have career years, Boeser, maybe Bo on the PP etc.....doable though, I wouldn't put it past him given how the league is changing. If the twins can get 110 pts in a semi clutch and grab/big man era, this kid who's light years ahead in pure skill could do it.

Madden looks to be another steal by JB's scouting team (Bracket etc). His dad was a high compete, high character, integral defensive specialist for the Devils, also had great wheels. Once this kid puts on some muscle, if he continues on this trajectory he may be better than Guadette. He's showing better at an earlier age. My guess, 2 more years in the NCAA, end of the 3rd he's signing. Looking forward to watch him develop over the next 2 years.

My picks assuming we're not top 2 (Hughes/Kakko) 1. Byram 2. Boldy (LW) 3. Broberg 4. Seider - If later in those who don't make the playoffs or somehow we manage another first and he's available

what a class act Kariya is, great interview and didn't really talk of himself, just of others he admired. Always wished he had somehow played in his hometown!

Nilsson playing pretty damn well for the Sens. Glad to see him sticking around in the NHL and proving he can play at this level. 10 gp 5 wins 4 losses 2.27 GAA .937 save % very impressive numbers, and only let in two today on 45 shots

2018-19 Utica Comets Thread

Good to hear. I loved the way this kid played up here. Size, mobile, a bit of aggression, and smart positonally -
They are going to challenge for sure this year now. Muzzin is the type of player they needed for sure. But they’ll lose Gardiners offense next year and he’s he not as bad defensively as Leaf fans harp on him for, most are just bitter from the playoffs. Then you have the issue of Kapannen as well next year. Dubas expected to sign Matthews at the top, then Marner, then Nylander, in that order money wise and was not expecting Kapannen to have this type of year. Now Marner’s agent is going to argue top dollar in the “just below McDavid range” and has legitimate right, Matthews will get McDavid money irrespective of his season, and Kapannen who all figured would get 2 mil or so will now command 4+. Next year leafs are screwed. Yes they can move Nylander but they will be hosed

Yes exactly but they knew it and Dumbass has been playing the game of we’re fine we’re fine to try and keep some leverage for trades after the season / at the draft. All the eastern media had said it; that he has to go for it this year because next year they are going to be in cap hell, and that was before Muzzin who’s due 4 mil for one more year. Goes to a point that Burke made a few weeks back. The second contract for young players used to be a bridge, and so you had a longer window as young stars stayed affordable for longer giving you a bigger window. Now the second contract is for young players (if they are stars) is the equivalent of UFA money and term, so your window (if you have a few) is very short. For all the tankers be thankful. Our team is being built as a team that can work under a cap world and be challenging for a long time. I’d hate to be a leaf fan for many reasons but mostly, their window is going to last 1-2 years

Blackkklansman - 8.5/10 Alot more of a political drama than I expected. Granted I should have expected it from Spike Lee but the trailers made it seem more comedic...It was very well acted, solid plot but its more of the subtext to today that makes this film great. Great and scary given how the past and a period we felt was gone, is so very similar to today in the USA, well worth the watch, Spike Lee delivers as usual Conspiracy 9.5 /10 Another political drama, this one historical and about the meeting where the Nazi's decide on the 'final solution' aka the eradication of jewish people from Germany. It is a chilling and frightening drama that is extremely well acted and as I said a chilling real life plot. Cast includes Kenneth Branaugh and Stanley Tucci. Worth the watch and so important from a historical perspective - it awakens you and reminds you of the worst of humanity, and that reminder is important to protect from it happening again

And he basically can just take up all the space and who's going to even have a chance to move him. Boston used Chara there often and it was quite effective. And Try is more mobile than chara ever was.
-
Boeser left circle for a one timer Hughes point Petey Right 1/2 boards controlling Try parked in front Bo as the rover That's one hell of a first PP

Wow, Oilers lose again this time to Detroit. They’re looking to add another first overall! The NHL needs to address this nonsense if they win the lottery again.

Not triggered at all, sorry not a snowflake...call it like I see it

Entitled? to what? Entitled because he chose to play out his contract and not re-sign and go home for personal reasons? Yes he's entitled to do that since he lived up to his contract and didn't sign a new one. Thus he was entitled to do as he pleased.

You're questioning his character, yet have you ever moved across the world to a country you know nothing about, can barely speak the language (so you probably have a tough time even understanding your boss), have a wife that is about to have a kid, who cant speak the language, you have no support from your company and you're learning how to work in the new organization (ie expectations of being in elite shape vs Russia). When you've done that, let us know about 'your character' guy.....a bit of a leap when you've never experienced what he did. Not to mention, he didn't break his contract, he lived up to it, and most people here, objectively saw a player really growing over that time. Once his contract is up, just like anyone on this planet, he has a choice of where he wants to work. For now, it wasn't here....it doesn't mean he doesn't have character, it means he's doing right by his family given the reasons he provided. You sound butthurt bro, really. So if your boss is treating you like crap, you're in another country, all of the above (culture shock, language, etc), you're telling me you wouldn't think about going home and reconsidering your decision? Give me a break Oh and as for character, seems he is an assistant captain and interim C on his team. Says alot to me. You're projecting what you think happened vs reality, then complaining about it. He lived up to his contract. If you believe players HAVE to stay with the team that drafted them for life, even after their contract is up, well I guess you think every UFA who leaves to another team has no character. Absurd. It's their right.

He can play on the right side, and did quite a bit here, so alot of those names you named wouldn't come into play as they are on the left. Also you are having very high expectations for guys like Rathbone, Woo, etc who haven't seen a game of pro hockey yet and won't be close to ready or the same level as NT. Alot of people are 'bitter' he left, like he insulted their mother or something. He had a right to, had a bad experience here coaching wise and personally as the Nucks clearly didn't think about the cultural transition for him. His usage by willie was garbage. Anyone who watched him play could see he was impacting the game in many ways and deserved more ice, WD made a mess in may ways, almost killed JV as well....so lets not forget that. Anyone who thinks not having a 6'6'' tough, intimidating, RD who can skate on their team is 'meh who cares' is not really caring about this team imho. The big man is a game changer and we need him back, especially given our depth (lack therof) on the right side. He and Hughes will be a d pairing on par with Seabrooke and Keith in their prime. That's silly not to want that.

Auld had some interesting comments on Goldy after last game, on the post game show. I assume Auldy has some real inside info, given he's an ex player and as such would have a bit more 'real scoop' than most on the radio. He said, he doesn't believe Goldy will be moved, unless the offer is really compelling (which given his play would not be), and that the Canucks see him as part of their long term plan and they are 'managing' his development with that in mind. His comment was, 'much like Virtanen, some times you have to strip a player down to build him back up again' and that he believes that is what the Nucks are doing with him.....Take that for what its worth but my guess is he has talked with those who are managing this process and that is what they are doing. Much like Jake, we have to be patient with this kid as they recalibrate him to what they know he can become....I look forward to watching if it works!
