Allvin and Tocchet have been pumping Brock up for months now. If PA has a deal cooking on BB it only adds to his trade value. If they think he can turn it around on the ice then that could work too. The exit interview must have been interesting.

Woo played 68 regular season games this season. In the previous 2 years he played 70 games. Between Covid and injury his development was slowed. His bounce back is a positive development for him and the org. Will watch his Calder playoffs with great interest.

I didn't want to contaminate my purified brain by letting the CBC in. I read the MSN News and there are CBC clips on there at times. That was my comment about the NP getting Government money. In 2018 Morneau earmarked $600 million over 5 years to subsidize Canadian media. I couldn't find how much the NP gets or whether this program will go past the current mandate.

[Report/Rumour] Elias Pettersson Contract Talks
Boudrias replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
The bidding started at $8.5 mil and went up to $13. Alf was bidding against himself and raised the asking price by $2 mil all by himself. I always liked IBatch's approach as a % of the CAP. Petey will be followed by Hughes. Van could easily end up like the Laffers with 3 guys wiping out their roster. -
Last I checked the National Post was still private but I suppose they are getting money from government as well. Government is providing funding to the CBC so that means I am as a taxpayer. I believe the CBC audience has pretty much disappeared if polls are correct. 5%? I haven't watched CBC for years as they are left wing and full of BS.

The only issue I have with that is how much TOI Woo would get in Vancouver. His game is coming on simply because he is getting playing time. The previous 2 seasons he simply didn't get enough games because of Covid and injury. Because of his waiver status I hope he stays in Abby and if he shines there then maybe he comes up to stay by December. I don't want him sitting in Van or have him lost to waivers.

I miss Jimmy's input. An intelligent viewpoint. Hope all is well.

I think the Canucks should get a pick for Virtanen not working out!

2023 Canucks end of season media availability

I just don't think Bear is a top 4 d-man Alf. What would any combination of Boeser, Garland, Bear and Meyers bring back? A top 4 d-man. A UFA RD signing? Canuck top 4 are pretty small. Even Hronek at 190 isn't super big. I think there has to be more size in that group. Johansson is 180 pounds. Almost a situation that they have to keep Meyers and hope that Woo comes strong. -
Wish him good luck Roman. Let him know that there are lots of Canuck fans rooting for him. We are excited about how much his game has advanced this year.

What was Kuzmenko's comment during the pressor when asked about the biggest dif between the NHL and the KHL? I believe he said the speed. The NHL is much faster than the KHL. I realize fans have to have something to talk about until draft day. Turning RT into another bum coach is an option I guess. I highly doubt there is a big problem between RT and Kuz. What player in his right mind would not want to play on Petey's wing? Allvin has some nice options for next year as far as wingers for Petey. I understand Tocchet's belief that Petey needs a big winger for puck recovery. Kuz gives him some speed, finesse and a net presence at times. If Kuz doesn't pick up his man then Petey will not be as aggressive as he falls back to backcheck. It is a learning process. Between Gonchar, Podz and Mik they will figure it out. -
Raty's pass to Klim on the right side was right on the tape.

I am not clear. Does this mean PDG can be waived down or not? If he can play for Abby it will be a big deal. -

I like your approach better Deb. Team depth is improving and maybe we get a 'ringer' from the pool. Miller, Petey, Quinn and Demko are the core. Hopefully next year Kozmenko and Hronek step up to that status. IMHO we need 2 more beyond that point. After that it is all about fleshing out the roster for serious contention. When you think about what Benning faced when he took over it is like night and day. Emphasis still rests on the d-side. Demmer cannot play 65 games a year and remain healthy enough to star in playoffs. If the target is serious Cup contention in 2 years then Silovs should have arrived to help Demko. -

Bruce owns his own hockey team back east that his son coaches. It was my impression that Bruce saw that his days were numbered and he was willing to play out the string. Not as if he was short of money. -

Ya. Bear pretty much said as much. Whether RT bringing in a level of accountability or Bo being traded there seemed to be a more united roster. I realize that the post season media scrum is an opportunity for serious ass kissing but most of the key players had thoughtful comments, especially Miller. -
[Rumour] Nikita Tryamkin eyeing NHL return

How many of the Russian KHL and even NHL players will be getting draft notices for the Russian army? -
I think the partner that can do that is the one who moves the puck well. It takes pressure off Hughes. Physically Hughes skating ability has kept him away from serious hits. When the Canucks become serious Cup contenders Hughes will face a much heavier forecheck and will be hit. Whether that means his partner has to have Quinn's 'safety' as his prime duty is questionable. I suggest a strong PP does as much. That said there is no doubt in my mind that the Canucks will get bigger and more physical themselves. Defending each other has to be in the DNA. It will be or you won't play for RT.

The adds to the Abby roster will be Wollanin, Podz, Johansson and Juulson. The roster looks real good. -
I am excited to see what he does in Calder playoffs!

I labelled Boudreau a 'glad hander' last fall. A nice guy. How many times during games and in post game interviews did Bruce shrug or question effort? It might explain why Miller lost it as many times as he did. When Rutherford questioned structure I thought he was bang on. Bear's comments explain Tocchet's approach with Kuzmenko. RT cannot hold some players accountable and not others. -

Most media base their whole business plan on 'click bait'. "Clicks" generate advertising revenue. News, sports and Hollywood live off this stuff. As a result I have little respect for almost all news outlets. Enough of that. IMO JT Miller's media session was the high lite of the afternoon. Very well spoken and obviously someone who thinks a lot about the game and wants team success. Very impressive. Petey vs Miller? I don't see a problem there at all. I would point out that JT is a married man with a young family and Petey is single. Different places in their lives. That doesn't make them incompatible. -
Tank Hard for Bedard - Playoff chances are already Slim
Boudrias replied to Provost's topic in Canucks Talk
There have been a good 8 teams that have been tanking for a month now. Press claim that the Habs are genius but Van not so much? I could have settled with the year end outcome if Hughes, Petey and Demko had got less TOI. From #5 down to #11? I don't know what Allvin was thinking. As you rightly pointed out Canucks could have traded down for more assets if they saw value. Any Canuck fan who thinks this core is deep enough as it sits had better do some homework and watch the Cup playoffs. They might twig onto how far this roster has to go to be true Cup contenders. It is my impression that many fans will simply be happy to make playoffs and think being a serious Cup is simply up to the gods. No there is no guarantees. Vancouver could have drafted #5, resigned Petey, bought out OEL, traded BB and Meyers for picks and still not iced a Cup contender. As a fan I want the odds in our favor as much as possible. This lost tank effort was a huge fumble.
