  1. $5 in 5 sounds great. Demko theoretically gets another contract at 30 that should bump him if he plays well. By that time the Canucks will know. The downside for Demko was the threat of NHL teams who want 2 tenders sharing games more evenly. It is seem as a way to cut out big contracts. It reduces team risk. Look at Vegas and Lehner. I am sure there are other examples. Cup teams are built from the net out so a big signing IMHO. Fans should remember the positive vibes here just in case Demko doesn't work out. Right now JB is a god.
  2. We all like size, especially if there is talent along with it. I kinda smile as I remember the ‘72 Red Army team. Short, compact and fast up front.
  3. The examples you gave all had much higher scoring stats at the peak of their careers. Pearson is a 3rd line scorer on a contender. He has a history of being a streaky scorer. I am fine with moving him at the TDL. Hoping the Canucks finish the season by playing the prospects. Develop by giving them TOI and evaluate.
  4. With a fixed CAP going forward space will be at a premium. I agree with you that this is what Detroit is doing. That and the ED coming up that could lead to some nice pickups on the cheap. Why would they pick up Gostisbehere when better options will likely come?
  5. I thought Rathbone had played some RD in college? Fox with Rathbone.
  6. Probably waiting on a phone call. Have to do the prep no matter what. Hoping they go as life is dragging without my Canuck fix.
  7. If Philly is waiving Gostisbehere they could be trying to clear CAP space. Maybe someone takes him. It appears that AV thinks he cannot play defense.
  8. If we agree that Hamonic is a top 4 d-man I think he is offered +$4 million even in a Covid CAP. Maybe less if he gets term or a LNTC. RD next year will be Meyers, Hamonic, Tryamkin, Rathbone? I don't know if Benning can give Hamonic a full NMC or much more than 3 years in term. Can Tryamkin fill his spot? If not in year 1 how about year 2?
  9. We're drafting top 10 right now. Don't start hexing things! Hoping for a bench clearing. Marky, Tanev, and Leivo all stand by the boards and watch. Then the action gets to much and they all go full flashback and start throwing on their Flamer team mates.
  10. 20-57-37 games in Vancouver is a fair look. The Bruins gave him 1 game. Now playing in Sweden. 241 games in the AHL.
  11. Bailey gone for the season? That's a shame I thought he might get quite a few games.
  12. Sad but true. Like you I had big hopes for Jake this year. His d-side game has improved but his offence seems to stall on cross bars. He must be tied with EP40 in that stat. A tad better accuracy and the conversation around Jake. goes 180.
  13. Oilers should be desperate for a bottom 6 FO man with a solid % like Sutter. Not only that but a top PK’er who can pot the odd goal. Absolutely a 2nd since it will be #50-60.
  14. Kinda funny to be told repeatedly how bad CANUCK ownership and management are. Interfering ownership, incompetent management in ALL aspects of the game and yes a very poor coach who really doesn’t know what he is doing. After all he is not a veteran coach. What happens in Calgary when they miss playoffs? After all they are further along the development curve than Vancouver. Johnny Hockey, gone! Are they in for another rebuild? Does Sutter commit to another 5-7 years? How does the tire fire in Buffalo get put out? Vancouver has problems??? Trade the vets that are not in the plans. Play the prospects. Reassess at years end as per normal. Get Podz and Tryamkin signed. Draft a top 10 prospect. Oh ya, cut Hughes TOI down to 20 minutes! If the decision is to let Green go kidnap Trotz! When the choice was between Willie and Barry they should have offered him 5% of the team as a signing bonus! Hey, sign me up as Pres!
  15. As well as Benn has played the Canucks have to move on. Hoping he is traded by the TDL. The season is toast. Rotate prospects thru the lineup for the balance of the season. Vancouver has spent a lot of time and money on their young prospects. They have to get NHL TOI. The org cannot keep many of these players. Making the best decisions on who to keep requires NHL exposure.
  16. #55 pick. So 24th in the 2nd round. Ranked as high as #14 coming out of his WJC Gold medal. Damn Covid is really screwing his season up. Still have high hopes for him.
  17. The better his team does in playoffs the more nervous I get that he comes to Vancouver. His team will try everything to get him resigned. What happens if Putin gives him a phone call? Podz leaving for the NHL hurts the entire KHL and has political implications.
  18. Rathbone is 1" shorter than Chris Chelios is the same weight at 190 pounds. Rathbone could still grow a bit. Very high on this kid and I agree that he plays in Vancouver for a least part of the year next year.
  19. Tryamkin comes in next fall and solidifies the Van d-core. Totally vindicates Benning! Whoops!!! Jim starts to take flack for letting him escape back to Russia 3 years ago. Another complete fail!
  20. Are you absolutely, unequivocally, positive about this? I feel the shadow of Bettman, and the BOSTON org hovering in the background waiting to jump on a technicality to steal Tryamkin from us. They have never forgiven the Canucks for stealing Quinn out of LA and for sneaking Bure in the back door. We won't talk about Burr.
  21. In the bottom 6 I see Sutter has having the most value to a team headed to playoffs. Beagle is a 2nd. Both great FO% centers. I agree that neither are likely to be on the roster when the team challenges for a CUP. Do they provide enough value to keep longer? Maybe one does. If Covid hadn't kicked the crap out of this season maybe Utica would have a more obvious succession option. I thought Graovic(?) hasn't looked to bad. I am not to happy about the fact that only Joulevi and Hogs are the only 2 rookies with any amount of TOI this year. It would have created a riot if Benning had played more prospewcts but it should have happened. There are about 25 games left, the Canucks won't make playoffs. Trade what you can and play the prospects. I would argue that the Canucks don't have a good enough handle on what they have.
  22. A lot of options, most of which I agree. Curious why you want to move Motte? IMHO he makes a huge dif to the bottom 6 when he is in the lineup.
  23. Covid probably cost JB $4 million in CAP space. The lottery has dropped his draft position how many times? Beagle gave the Canucks a solid FO % when they really needed it. Ferland was a gamble but fans were sure excited when he signed. Ericksson, fans were excited. Love Rous but no. Letting Marky, Tanev and Stecher go was the right thing. Benning doesn't fold to fan angst and good for him. If he is a buyer by April and not a seller I will start to uncoil the rope.
