Talk of the Chinese and Russians co-oping on a moon landing. Not sure if I am accurate but the NASA rocket under development will cost 6X as much to get a ton of material up as the SpaceX rocket. Really excited about what we will see over the next 5 years. To much navel gazing by mankind right now. Humans need another challenge.

I cannot be bothered to read the whole thread but I will throw out the idea of increasing the housing density by rezoning areas in the Lower Mainland. Also consider how much the cost of a building lot has been increased by government levies on all kinds. Building permits, inspections, taxes etc. Some of it legit and some bogus.

Actually the UFO ETF does exist. Trades on NASDAQ. I wanted some exposure to space companies. It owns about 30-35 stocks. Check out the SpaceShow.com. They get some top notch people talking about space exploration. When Musk launches his 4 man crew in April and then his Falcon Heavy in 2024. The Heavy will freight equipment to build a permanent station orbiting the moon. I think there will be another space race.

That's why I bought the UFO ETF. Nothing to do with the suspicion that there is a secret base on the far side of the Moon already.

NHL, ESPN reach seven-year U.S. broadcast deal

Was it $200 million per year or over the term of the contract? I think it was over the term of the contract. $200 mil is $6.5 mil per team per year. That's to much. That said, going into these contract talks there were numbers as much as $600 million being floated for the combined USA rights. Content is king so I am hoping for big things. -
I have heard his weight was as high as 190. Funny how you see him as looking bigger and yet I see him as smaller. To me he doesn’t look 6’2”. All that aside he has played a decent physical game. I understand that JB likely wants to move Benn for a pick so he plays him. He has had a decent season and I can see him being an asset for a Cup contender. I can see a switching back and forth until the trade deadline. Joulevi is the future so he has to finish the season on the ice.
-
Maybe because Benn is bigger. Now that Hamonic has settled in I would like to see OJ gets some games. Benn is not long term so OJ should get more TOI. At the same time I suspect JB wants to move Benn for a pick.

Anyone that had a business at that time and was carrying demand loans were hooped. I saw lots of gypo outfits get their loans called even tho they had not missed a payment. Our parents told us the same things young people are saying now. My parents lived thru the Depression so I couldn't criticize them for telling me how easy I had it. My grandmother did +1000 miles in a covered wagon from Utah to BC. Tough as nails. No government bailouts for them. None for me either. Each generation has to face their own challenges. I lived on $500 a month for many years to build my company.

Good critic! Most of the team did not play well. To be positive I will say that Virtanen continued his stronger play. Actually thought Rous was a tad better. The team standouts IMHO were Hamonic and Demko. Really loving Hamonic's game. Blocks something like 5 shots but I was truly impressed with his aggressive play infront of the Van net. He gives no quarter and Van needs this in a big way. Hamonic and Meyers are leading the club in this area. I cannot agree with any players staying on the ice for + 2 minutes shifts. 45-60 seconds max. Hughes does this on a regular basis so how is he being coached?

They got paid $7 million to cry on Oprah's shoulder. Oprah sold the advert at $350,000 per 30 seconds. Alls good.

Great post! I have probably told this story before so ignore if so. Back in the early '80's I was at a fertilizer convention in Winnipeg. Cherry was the feature speaker on the rubber chicken circuit. He did his Don Cherry routine and everyone enjoyed it. Lots of applause. So Don finishes up and says he will stay behind to talk hockey and sign autographs. As a old Habs fan I hated Cherry from his Boston days but had a connection as Johnny Bucyk was a family friend. I stay behind and the crowd thins out and about 4-5 of us stood around and talked with Don. He is as exactly like you suggested. He does not put on airs. A real straight shooter. I had to laugh when I asked him about Orr cutting his leg open while fishing with Bucyk on Kootenay Lake. Don smiled and admitted to me that a few beers were involved. " I only had Johnny for 1 season he said." Actually Bucyk stayed with the Bruins right up to a few years ago. PR in the Boston area. Still likes to come back to the Lake but his health is failing.

I miss Don. He had enough anti-establishment (NHL) callouts to keep fans interested. Unabashedly patriotic and a guy you knew grew up in the hockey ranks. He had seen the dark side of the sport yet was still a cheerleader. MacLean is a political animal. He tried to patch things up after his smear campaign on Burrows, I am sure, because the CBC/SN couldn't handle the fan blow up in Vancouver. Hurts revenue. Bieksa knows more about hockey than MacLean ever dreamt of just like Cherry did. MacLean is the type who cruises the cocktail lounge and runs for more drinks so that he can ingrate himself. No use for the guy. Oh, pass me another pop, Don.

Horgan's AG was doing a good job exposing some of this stuff and now no new info. Why wouldn't we have an expectation that this would be a top file for the government? Politically wouldn't appeal to the NDP as it would likely expose some dirty BC Lib politicians or some of their supporters. Your comment is somewhat glib considering what it has cost the province and the people who likely pay higher real estate prices as a result.
-
When will the lid get blown off the corruption involved in money laundering in BC? Laundering this money into real estate escalated costs that everyone pays. Organized crime, cartels and even possible terrorist groups are involved. Corruption of our politicians and judiciary are also likely. It started with the BC Liberals, the Dippers started to expose it and it is now quiet. Possible federal government involvement thru CISIS and the RCMP. Have we ever seen a politician or bureaucrat do jail time in this province?

I could care less about the royal family and even less for these two who appear to want their cake and eat it too. The Royal family is all about selling themselves. Markle was in that business in Hollywood, the height of prostitution. Spare me the tears. I would have had more respect if they had said nothing and simply gone about the task of building an independent life. Of course they did not and will gratefully cash Oprah’s check.

Totally agree. If the plan is to see both of these players make the club then have Rathbone play a season in Utica. Joulevi needs NHL TOI. He is sitting right now and I am not particularly happy about it. I can see Green's rationale as he wants more stability and confidence within the existing lineup and winning does that. As much as no one wants to see injuries they will likely happen and OJ goes back in.

I was scratching my head on Schultz for the first 15 games but he has steadied up a lot. Practice time has been seriously underestimated in fan evaluation. Add to that the off ice bonding that has been eliminated.

Sorry Marky you are faltering a tad so time for the Canucks to fault over Calgary with a win tonight! 8 PP for the Flamers against the Sens with only a single goal??? The Habs will be a tough challenge, no doubt. Hoping Green sticks with the same lineup. EP40 returns and he slots back onto the top line. I would drop Hoglander back onto #2LW and drop Pearson onto 3LW. I would also consider sitting Rous and playing Big Mac. Covid: Time to use the vaccine passports. If you have been vaccinated and wear a mask then you can go to a Canuck game! Start with 20% seating and measure. No food and no beverages. The Americans now think they will have herd immunity by the end of April. They have had fans in some buildings for quite some time now.

If the real estate market craters to the extent it should then your job, nobodies job will be secure. I was reading one of those financial planning scenarios where a couple, both 25, had bought a $1.1 million house and were carrying a mortgage of $825,000. Their combined incomes were $135,000. Mortgage was about $2500. This sounds so much like 2008-09. Millions of Americans lost their homes. USA interests are already spiking even as the US Fed tries to talk them down. Trudeau is a empty glass and will not be able to stop what is coming.

Does any NHL club play a consistent physical game? I am not watching many of the games down south this winter but I cannot think of any. Edler can hit to hurt and will when it counts. Schenn did when he was here. I don't think today's game plays well to a heavy hitting game especially if refs are going to penalize. PP's around the league are to good. Of course come playoffs that rule book gets thrown out. I was watching Hamonic a lot last night. He was pretty physical in front of the net. I thought he was the best d-man on the ice.

Obviously something isn’t working in Calgary. Two coaches in short order. A no nonsense guy like Sutter comes in. Can Monaghan and Johnny Hockey adjust to fit? Something missing in the intangibles. Marty and Taney add a lot to team character but is it enough? Marky gets hurt and Calgary will spin into the ground. Sutter just as likely to blow things up as to winning the team over. Johnny Hockey will be gone IMHO.
