  1. Hoping Erickson is taken out. No way he should have ever played another game. Time to move on.
  2. If China moves against Taiwan does the West defend Taiwan? You can bet that is what China is weighing right now.
  3. That is why you sit him for awhile and play another prospect.
  4. The Canucks have to learn a solid d-game. Marky regularly bailed the team out which allowed some cheating on breakouts. Add a young rookie d-man with extraordinary talent who plays a freewheeling game. This style is appealing to players who then do not have to qwork as hard on back checking. Teams rarely win Cups with run & gun offences. It is a asset when needed but the reality is Cups are won in your d-zone. I thought Bieksa’s comment about the Canucks was bang on. He said he didn’t see an identity and was disappointed that he saw no fight back from being schooled by the Laffers. I am am not a fan of coaching changes, especially with a young team. What I find very disturbing thru this early season is the confusion within the group, especially in the d-zone. 15 games in and they have had at best 2 practices and no pre-season. The contrast with Manny on a vastly improved Laffers team versus last year when he was still with the Canucks is hard to swallow. As fans we have no idea of the internal dynamics. The reality is that this season is done. Take the balance of the season to develop a balanced attack and a solid d-zone coverage. In the process rotate prospects thru to develop and evaluate them. No desperation moves in an effort to save the season. What is happening now was pretty much inevitable.
  5. I think Chatfield has to take a break and OJ comes back in. Even tho his +/- is nothing to write home about his upside is evident.
  6. The mob wants an easy excuse for the trouble this Canuck team is going thru. Jake Virtanen is the easy out. Does anyone seriously think that moving JV out will turn this team around? He hasn’t even been a regular and frankly has not hurt the team when he played. Does that mean Jake is a misplayed talent waiting to break out? Many of the criticisms are fair enough and if the Canucks could get something in return JB might even deal him. If nothing comes back then why deal him? Whatever is going on inside this group is serious. They looked confused and disheartened last night. It is not the young guys who are the most concerning. The vets need to settle this group down and show some leadership.
  7. Trudeau has been over his head since he was elected. How many Canadians have died from Covid because of his mismanagement?
  8. If not Meyers then who? Their going to take someone off the Canucks. Beyond hope but I would try dealing Erickson somehow. Seattle would have the CAP space.
  9. It can’t get much worse for Aqualini. No fans no money. I can certainly understand why he wouldn’t be keen on buying any contracts out. They have to tough it out. A season of losing likely strengthens this young group over the long term. I remember when it looked like the Avs were ready for a serious run 4 - 5 years ago and they came back to another 3 seasons of hard times. Over 50 years I have seen managements panic in the Canuck .org on a regular basis, even the Mighty Quinn. This is the first time in 50 years that the Canucks have built back from nothing. As fans we should never forget that.
  10. Did they keep Bailey or send him to Utica?
  11. The venting going on after these loses appears more to do with a expectation/hope that the Canucks could return to playoffs again this year. The fact that Markstrom and Demko played at a level that covered up many of the d-side weakness’s on the club. No one should be overly surprised that they are struggling somewhat now. This is a process and likely another 2 year term. Worse case scenario they cannot salvage their season and are finished early. I am hoping management stays the course and is not panicked into bandaid efforts to try and save the season. Run the prospects thru instead of any Hail Mary’s. The plusses to date are Hogs, Motte, and Chatfield. It seems every game Chatfield does a little more. He is something else. Wwould like to see Juolevi back in at some point. The negatives appears to be to be how much the puck is being turned in the d-zone but also in the neutral zone. Canucks are struggling on possession time. Players are taking a fraction of extra time on decision making and it is costing. Practises would be working on this but they haven’t had many. .
  12. No NHL team I detest more than the Laffers. Not so much the players but the media typifies how this country is ran. Virtanen for the hasty and a massive hit on that big guy from Arizona, can’t remember his name.
  13. At some point in their development this Canuck group will have to be able to play a defensive game like the NYI's can. They are a far ways from that right now. The only team I have seen that can win Cups with 'run & gun' were Gretzky's Oilers. Even the great Habs teams could play defense. I actually think that Markstrom had to go so that this group would be exposed for their weaknesses he was covering up. Get the idea that the d-core is playing the same game that Baumgartner tried to play in the NHL? Nothing wrong with that when offence is needed but I can just imagine what Cherry or Meeker would have said when Myers turns the puck back into the corner with 30 seconds left in a game instead of chipping it out on the boards.
  14. I have FVI so let the silver go through the roof. Bullion at + $30. World silver production is shorted for a whole year’s worth.
  15. I doubt you can turn the tide. High end players sign $60-70 contracts and the owners on not going to risk their health with rough play. That said playoffs seem to be another game. They want to protect the marquee players, at least during the regular season. Then there is the almost ritualistic encounters that Meyers had to deal with when he hit the Calgary player. Skating with your head down used to be an invitation for a hit but now it is almost a ploy for a PP.
  16. Why Bennett. It’s not like he hasn’t had opportunity in Calgary. Jake has outperformed Bennett. Not an argument to keep Jake if a deal is out there. The Sens will likely be dealing. Send Jake to the Habs for Mete.
  17. I’m wondering if the Sens have interest? They need some offence and Baer could help.
  18. Benn is surprising me. I thought he would be OK in the d-zone which he has been. It has been down in the ozone where he has surprised me. Trapped a couple of times but generally holding the line well. Getting his shots in. Creating plays.
  19. You watch the iPad between shifts and you learn stuff.
  20. How many chances did he generate last night from board battles! Totally impressed. His positioning his excellent. On the d-side he likely saved a goal when he took the puck away from the Jet in front of the net. His battle is taking opposing d-men by surprise.
  21. The challenge faced by Jake has always been the ticking clock as he tried to establish himself in the NHL. There will always be younger players challenging for his TOI. IMHO Jake had to play a more physical game and refine his d-side game to establish himself. Excluding injuries his opportunity is slipping. This is without Podz here yet. The same situation exists for Tryamkin.
  22. What a game against the Jets. 17 minutes of TOI! His confidence is growing with each game. I wanted OJ to pplay but between Chatfield and Benn it will be hard to get back in.
  23. Great game by the team. MacEwen needs TOI and will progress. The standouts for me were Chatfield and Hogs. When Chatfield drove down the wing and circled the net before making a play I was totally impressed. His confidence is escalating. It made me think back at how he stood out in his Memorial Cup. Hogs is like a dog on a bone. His puck handling and anticipation is superior.
