Gaudette has had some quality ozone chances. If not for his defensive lapses he would probably be still playing. I think they will have to try him on the wing. The depth might make him a chip..
-
He seems to wander out of position and loses the play.

Motte has been making a strong case for moving up the lines and getting a crack at more ozone time. MacEwen is another. Thought Big Mac deserved a point last night. I was surprised Green didn't put him and Jake out for more TOI in the 3rd. I think Gaudette has to go to the wing to get ice time.

Holtby is on a year term Marky got 6 years. All the pundits grade Schmidt higher than Tanev. Schmidt was signed after TANEV LEFT. Peterson and Hughes will get the best deals their agent can get them the same way Marky and Tanev did. Surprise. Why would you expect a “loyalty” discount? What is that 5% off?

There wouldn’t have been a WW ll if Canada and the USA had not been involved in WW l. The Euro monarchies and industrialists sucked everyone in.

Pretty solid game from Jake last night. 4 hits and 2 posts. They will start going in.

Too many fans entered this season with rose coloured glasses on after last summer CUP run. Nice to see playoffs but premature to the evolution of this group. I thought losing Marky and Tanev was necessary considering the CAP situation. No, I won’t poke fingers at JB either. Refocus us on the prize. 2 years out this group should be a CUP contender. Many of the roster players now won’t be here. The next 3 seasons is all about maturation of the core and de development of prospects. It is about developing a team that can play more than a run & gun offence. This team does not have a shutdown capability yet. The positives I am taking from the Montreal series was that they were not ran out of the rink. Physically the stood up well. Last night they out hit Montreal and were in the game until 6 minutes left. Virtanen, MacEwen and Motte threw 13 hits or 40%. Horvat came out in the 2nd and laid 2 big time hits. Their FO % is still very strong. A little better d-zone coverage and this group can improve. Worrying about playoffs is not the #1 priority. It is continued development and TOI for those players who will be here in3 years.

Conservative Party of Canada Holds Annual Convention
Boudrias replied to DonLever's topic in Off-Topic General
Sloan said he was given any opportunity to defend himself during the caucus vote. His being turfed will cause divisiveness but IMHO it is more about the top down undemocratic action. On this basis who is next? Many unhappy conservatives right now. -
Biggest mistake Canada ever made was not throwing in with the AMERICANS and kicking out the monarchy in 1776. Past GG Clarkson regularly lobbies for more money. The Euros have cost how many Canadian lives in WW l & WW ll? Grow up Canada.

I remember laying in bed and listening to Larry King on late night radio. He had many interesting people on. The call ins were often weird people.

[Signing] Blue Jackets re-sign Pierre-Luc Dubois
Boudrias replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I thought Dubois's disaffection came from contract talks this past summer. He was playing for Torts last year and doing just fine. Curious situation. If he didn't like what was said during contract talks and decided he wanted out then dogging it doesn't speed up the process. -
Sure Meyers made some mistakes but Hughes and Schultz were having a harder time. Myers has looked good in the ozone and has played a more physical game than last year.

Most recognize that Marky either stole games or kept the team in games they didn’t deserve to be in. Many ‘fire house’ drills last year. The offensive counter to all this was to a activate the d-core and speed up the transition game. Still seems to be the prime strategy. You can go down the roster and find examples in almost every player of their ‘chancing’ offensive opportunity over defensive awareness. Bottom line is that the Canucks currently do not have a great defensive game. Run & Gun rules but that usually only works during the regular season. Canucks still need a couple of years to morph into a true contender. Look at that blue line last night and although it was a tough night I was thrilled to see the young d-men get some TOI. I am really liking OJ and Chatfield. Many of the Hab scoring and opportunity were generated out of the Hab o-zone or the neutral zone.
-
I thought Horvat, Motte, Myers and Chatfield had strong games last night. Hughes and Schmidt played big TOI and struggled in spots. Canucks played the big Hab d-core better than I thought they would. Miller makes such a big dif in the ozone. Virtanen seems to be carving out a niche. He had some PK time.

Montreal is big and fast. Add mean! The positive might be that Price doesn’t play all 3 games. I saw some panic in the d-zone in the last Flamer game. Being at home, FO % better, a practice, Holtby in net .... gives us a chance. To me it all starts in the backend. D-zone coverage and transition has to improve. Tough challenge as the Habs are the class of the Northern Division right now. They have played 1 less game than Vancouver.

[Report] Jack Roslovic requests trade
Boudrias replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Only been to Winnipeg 2X. I made the mistake of walking outside the hotel. Wanted to say I had stood on the corner of Portage & Main. What a mistake that was. As cold as I have ever been or ever want to be. That wind was going right thru. Yup, it come come down to the weather. -
In the Canadian division it looks like the Habs are the leaders. Haven't seen much of the Jets yet, however. Montreal kinda manhandled the Oilers the other night. I thought Anderson was bang on when he said they dominated the Laffers in their OT loss to them.

there was a CAP issue was there not? Also it was not clear whether there would be an NHL season so he re-signed in the KHL.
