Didn't buy Starbucks because I didn't like the taste of their coffee. Simple me sometimes. -
Lancaster I threw out the idea that Taiwan already has a nuclear deterrent a while back. You didn’t comment. I cannot imagine that this has not happened as conventional warfare cannot save them from a CCP invasion.

Gold is killing me today. Down 4.5 to 5%, bullion and producers. -
The NHL was also dealing on new broadcast deal in the USA. I suppose that is on hold. Rumour of each team getting $5 million per year.

Glad to see your always interesting comments Rob. Yes, the d-core looks better and a top 6 winger is needed. I am leery of another TT deal. Unfortunate as Covid killed the CAP growth that would have paid him. That said I prefer to see how the existing roster and prospects grow with the opportunity. How does the improved strength of the d-core benefit puck possession, transition speed and ozone time. Where you been?

Fun hockey to watch. I thought Canada would come out in the 2nd and play a more physical game. Their offense had got them to the finals and I guess they thought it would kick in at some point. A more physical game by Canada might have thrown the Americans off enough to have capitalized in transition. The 2005 team had players who could play that game led by Getzlaf.

I thought Podz stood out on the Russian team. Larionov obviously liked his game and played him in critical spots. I thought the Russian team was big enough to have played a more physical game and Podz could have led that effort. In the end their lack of offence finished them off. I don't blame Podz for that as he regularly set up team mates. I can see him in the Van lineup next year.

Absolutely love the fact Try is playing for Peters. An NHL coach who can fine tune Try's game towards a NHL game. IMHO too many Canuck fans are remembering Try's game from 4 years ago when the team was very weak. If/when he returns to Van it will be to a far more talented roster. How does he compliment that roster and just as importantly how does the improved skill level help Try's game?

My gold play hit a home run today. Still looking to add to CVS. -
[PTO] Travis Hamonic with Canucks
Boudrias replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I wasn’t a fan of signing another vet on the d-side but have warmed up to Hamonic deal. He has the ability to move up tp top 4 and the LD3 spot is still open for prospects. With the compressed schedule the prospects should still get their games. Schmidt, Edler, Myers and Hamonic can all play a heavy game. -

No, you don't get a free Audi. Maybe a Petey trade-in. -
Have you ever seen the map with Genghis Khan’s DNA marked on it? That guy was prolific.

Hoping Pods scores a hatty but Russia loses 4 - 3. Hope the kid from Cranbrook scores again.

Some nights your TOI is highly likely. I rather see Edler back at 20 as he plays a stronger game IMHO. Last year Green experimented with Miller on the point during PP.

Dawn Wells, "Mary Ann" From Gilligan's Island Dies at 82
Boudrias replied to DonLever's topic in Off-Topic General
Last of the McGuire Sisters passed as well. Gilligan's Island was a standard in our home. I tuned in I Dream of Genie to watch Barbara Eden and that was about it. -
I thought Costmar had strong games against the Russians and again last night against the Americans. The way he was playing the Swedish coach should have let him take the penalty shot. Coach must like what he sees as Costmar was getting PP time. He was noticeable most shifts.

Hopefully Tryamkin comes back and can force his way onto the top 4 group. A big mobile d-man who can be physical would be a godsend for the Canucks. It will not be easy for him. I am not a fan of the KHL. I think it gets to much credit for the quality of their game. To some extent the proof is in how many NHL wannabees have moved to the KHL and enjoyed some success. Wasn't it Schenn who commented that the KHL was a bit of a joke after he played there for 25 games? Many players coasting and nothing physical. If Tryamkin returns he has to re-learn the NHL game and the speed involved. I think he is capable as he was showing promise before he returned to Russia. That was 4 years ago. The Canuck d-core depth is way better than when he was here last time. If he is slow adjusting he might not get much rope.
-
How are you going to even out the TOI with Hughes on your roster? He will play 25 minutes a night and I suspect Schmidt will be right behind him. Depending on the game the bottom pairing will likely be in the 12 - 15 minute range.

When I was in China back in the '90's I met a fellow who was guiding tourists like me. Very bright. Son of a Chinese doctor and military man. He was quite open about the obstacles faced by ordinary people to make a living. Both his parents had been re-educated during the Cultural Revolution. Back then the CCP had a dual currency system. They had consumer goods stores that only accepted foreign currency. Being able to 'acquire' foreign currency was a prime opportunity to get ahead. My tourist 'friend' was very good at his job, a pleasure to be around, but his main objective in being with us was to acquire our foreign money. He offered to convert our money to Chinese funds and when the trip was winding up he asked us to tip him in USD if we were so inclined. He did well by us that day. Not that I would likely recognize this fellow but I always thought I would see him in the Chinese government one day. "They're normal people" is so true. Most people suffer the politics of their countries because they have to. You do what you have to do to support your family and hope for a better future. There has been so much suffering in China down thru the years and they have been victimized by foreigners for hundreds of years. As I say to my kids and grandkids until you have starved you have no idea of what many people have to do to live.

Podz led the team last night. He easily could have had a 6 point night. As much as I want Podz to do well I do want Canada to win Gold. To date it is the Russian team that scares me the most. They are big and when they want to fly they can. I have watched all their games to date but only 1 USA game. The USA and Sweden are always a threat but I would put money on Russia to face Canada in the final.

Have you seen a good one timer from the point or wing on the Russian PP yet? I also expected a more physical game from them. Pods threw that beautiful cross ice pass on the PP but his team mate fanned on the finish.

On Qtrade the conversion cost is based on the amount of dollars converted. + $10,000 and cost drop down to about 0.8%. It does fluctuate. -

Qtrade as well. Very few problems. $6.90 on trades. -
The Germans are producing top NHL talent these days. If not for their poor goal tending the game would not have looked as bad as it did. I think the Germans will push the Swiss down a notch and assume a regular top of the Tier 2 teams. Russia-Swedes-Finns-Czech and then the Germans. The Czechs have to up their game as well.
