Investing in the stock market - Discussion

I added CNQ because it was cheaper than WCP. Both Mexico and Venezula's heavy crude production is declining quickly. Fracking production in Texas is under price pressure until WTI hits $60. That said I am reading stories that WTI will hit $60 by H2 of 2021. Weak pricing could reduce USA production by 2.5 million boe/d. Much of the capital spending in heavy oil is done by CNQ. Their CF + @ $27/barrel. FCF Y is 13% at $50 WTI. Nice talk but a Saudi tanker takes a rocket today and the market hardly moves??? Me buying a oil stock is the kiss of death. -

He gained a lot of respect in my books when he took on Guddy. He stood up for his team mates and took a beating. -

I thought T would hit 26 last week. I swore I would never buy another oil stock but bought CNQ this morning. When Brookfield brought out BEPC and BIPC targeted towards the USA investor I switched over as I hold them in a holding company. What a score that has been. They trade at a 23 and 31% premium respectively. The American investors have bid up the price as they don't want to own the LP units. I have trimmed BIPC back 2x now. They just spun off 1 share for every 2 held on Friday. Nice. -
Isn't Trudeau giving them money every month?

That's my take as well. JNJ covers all the bases but its size kinda kills much growth. I think we see $165 in '21. ABBV and CVS are both value plays. I really like CVS as they are quite innovative. I am excited with what they will do with Aetna. -
Not to worry the CBC is now at less than 4% viewership. So bad that maybe the CEO will have to move back from NYC to Canada. When I saw counter protesters in Van supporting Bejing it was scary. I suspect the CCP has many agents, sympathizers and yes many on their payroll through some means or another.

Agreed that Hamonic with be a stronger candidate but Benn is already contracted. He is likely movable. I think the team should be more focused on 2-3 years out. Rather use the prospects and maybe still add Bailey up front. -

At 30 years old I don't see the fit. Hughes, Edler, Schmidt and Myers are top 4. #5 and #6 can be any combination of Benn and prospects. Younger players who need the TOI to show what they will be capable of in 2-3 years.- 210 replies

CVS, ABBV and JNJ. I have HHL in my TFSA for the yield. JNJ might seem like dead money but if I can get 10% TR I will take it. It is the stabilizer in the group. I want 2.5% allocation in each and then will trim. I like BDX but cannot own them all. -
With a stick that long Try should be able to poke check plays at the blue line from in front of the net.

PC culture often exhibits the weak thinking going on. Do we restrict the various schools of art around the world to the ethnic origin of the founders? Laughable!

Your in the green. Your holding is worth more than your initial investment. -
I'll give my shot to Petey.

Maybe Trudeau should have seized some of those Chinese generals he was training in Ontario. He could stake them over a frozen snowman until our Canadians are released.

Here I thought Elon was maybe Jewish and it turns out he is alien. That said there is no resemblance to EP40. Their everywhere! -
Thrilled that Try is playing under a NHL coach. I think your take is spot on. I see the future Canuck d-core as a fast transition group. We will have to see how well Tryamkin will do in that type of game. We also know that CUP play often goes physical and Try could be a solid addition in that department.

They are obviously here and have partnered with the Democrats. Look at how those votes were changed. -

Av volume on T is 2 million per day. Now sitting at 1.2 so nothing special there. I'm sitting out and building cash. I might sell some T at $30. -
Any bets that Pods stays in Canada after WJC?

Yes to ENB. Been there for many years. Was buying pretty heavy at less than $40. My Y at ACB is over 10%. Love it. Approvals all in for Line 3. ROP-N is Roper Technologies. The PE is 28.7. It just keeps climbing and the div is increased regularly 60.7% in 3 years. BV +59.7% in 3 years. SH price + 62% in 3years. I was thinking about selling some MSFT and buying ROP. It is cheaper. Another Constellation Software but appears to have a wider scope. I might just wait and watch. -

Something going on with T. Been climbing steadily. They are supposed to spin off Telus International in Q1 2021. I heard valuation of $1.50 and am wondering if that is understated. I have owned T for many years and have always been happy other than the brief time that Entwistle quit as CEO. As I said before T is much more than a telcom. I don't carry telcom's in my sector allocation any more. Rolled T over into my tech. Have you ever looked at ROP-N? -
I think hydrating is appropriate as the vets I knew would have joined in. Above I mentioned that I knew of WW II vets who hid their feelings with alcohol. This is true but alcohol was also a tool of companionship. Although a son of a WW II vet I always realized that these men shared something that we could not. Nothing like a bunch of these men sitting around having beers together. Laughing, joking, talking about their fishing trip up into the mountains. I cannot ever remember any of those get togethers that had any war experiences talked about. Yet, when I think about it, they were all vets. They had a comradery that I have rarely experienced in my life. Men from a small BC town who didn't have deep philosophical discussions about right or wrong. They took 5 years out of their lives, risking their lives in the process, to defend their loved ones. I have a picture of my father in uniform on my Gramma's front lawn. He weighed 143 pounds. You know that wasn't overly light in those days. Correction. I said I didn't know any vets who talked about the war. I just remembered Bill. How could I have forgot. If he had a few beers he would talk but you had to ask. He landed his tank on Juno on June 8th, i think. He fought around Caen and was part of the Falaise battle. He was likely more emotional than he let on. He talked about what a tank was capable of. After the war he was a mechanic and could fix any piece of heavy equipment you could bring him. As you said Jim a very special group. If there was ever a common thread I remember about these men it was always we did our duty, did what we were trained to do.
