  1. I will watch the Calder playoffs with great interest this year. Jack has to shine.
  2. You can cherry pick NHL drafting history to support such an attitude all day long. I don't see the point. You assemble a scouting team, do the home work and then draft. Their ability is what counts. At that you are putting projections onto 18 year olds so there is no guarantees. All the same I want Allvin with the best options he can get come draft day.
  3. Exactly! Canucks will be lucky to hand onto #8. Many fans discount the importance of draft position and trot examples of where it did not. For e the bottom line is putting Patrick Allvin in the best possible position come draft day. I trust his judgement over most posters. What should excite Canuck fans is the strength of the existing core. Last game the TOI was very balanced. I wish Tochett had done more of that starting 2 weeks ago. Your very right DeNiro this tank is a one off. How could anyone look at the progress made by management this year and think negatively for next year. Tank on! A lottery blow out and Canucks get Bedard!
  4. Instead of hoping for a win against the Hawks tonight I hope they bump past Chicago in the lottery. Now that would be sweet. Tank on!
  5. I am already at max allocation on TD. It is a buy IMHO.
  6. Seen Stech in 2 games now and he is looking pretty good. Don't care about the Flames I am more worried about losing draft position. Have to lose the last 5 games. Limit the TOI for the core that play. Have a look at the new players. Dream about next fall. Tank on!
  7. Is that at the NHL or AHL rate? Remember CAP is everything.
  8. Many fans were excited with the run under Tocchet as they were under Boudreau. While I think Tocchet is the better coach both runs might have helped the core but hurt draft position. Even a cursory look at serious CUP contenders show that the Canuck roster still needs a LOT of work. To date I am happy with what PA has done. The prospect pool is much deeper. I can only assume he will move out some roster players who simply don't fit in the future. These moves cannot be predicated on a serious CUP run next year. The vision should be 2-3 years out.
  9. What he said as a NYR isn't necessarily his attitude now. The trade alone likely suggests to him that his opportunity is narrowing. He is now on a team with a large Russian contingent to counsel him. If he has to go to Abby I suspect he will. If he doesn't he will likely be gone.
  10. I guess anything goes then? You might have a point as the justice system isn't backing you up. Years ago I actually had a RCMP officer suggest to my wife that she could go into the back alley behind our business and try to talk sense to fighting kids. No I wasn't hiding in the back room I was on the road. My wife is 5 feet tall on a good day. I lost a lot of respect for the RCMP when I ran a business on main street.
  11. Geez, I through Hip a bone by endorsing Biden and he spit it out.
  12. Exactly! If the players on this roster are so fragile they cannot see the benefit then don't dress them. More likely it is fragile fans who are most worried about it. Whether finishing at #7 or #10 can be viewed as irrelevant but it is a lottery. If memory serves the Joulevi was a Canuck drop from #3 to #5. Again there is no guarantees on the quality of the pick as that is up to the scouts and PA. The draft position simply gives them more options which is what it is all about.
  13. Excellent summary. Hippy likes to brand me as partisan as if that turns off the thinking cap. As you accurately point out no political party has put out a clear economic summary of where we sit now and how we work our way out of the inflation we are dealing with. What are the real threats to national security? I put the current direction of our economy as a top national security threat. Why don't key national issues get debated in a rational manner in this country? As you rightfully point out cheap money encouraged people to increase their personal debt to the point that many are now defaulting. Why doesn't our subsidized media investigate why money was so cheap? What economic forces were at work that made capital available to individuals, corporations and governments at 1% interest? What role does deflation and a declining demographic play in our future? People should be beyond nervous they should be scared.
  14. All true. I would add that poor drafting and player development existed before the Benning era as well.
  15. Statements like Miller will never be traded are a tad ridiculous. Any player is trade able. Wayne says hi. It is all about balancing value to the org, timelines and yes even personalities. I am not as hyped about moving Miller as I was last year. That said it is all about the offer. Canucks are not a deep roster for serious contention yet. It is all about how PA and his team evaluates the players and where they expect to be in 2-3 years.
  16. So if I am partisan where does that leave you? Both our life experiences give us different perspectives, no doubt. What I see is government taking a bigger share of GDP each year. To me that does not bode well for our future. There will always be people (politicians) who say follow me because I am smarter. Their process rarely includes the fiscal discipline of markets. Without it inflation is inevitable, accompanied by incredible waste. I suggest the room for error in such decision making is narrowing and the flexibility that we all assumed existed is disappearing.
  17. So it appears the oil companies single BC out for extra rip off prices? What did we do to deserve that? By the way I gassed up in Calgary last week at $1.279. Nope Trudeau and Biden had nothing to do with this. Move along.
  18. Finally someone with a little savy. Of course we wanted Calgary to win tonight. Your list is the one we should be paying attention to. If we are lucky we drop to #7 but could easily climb to #10.
  19. The Laffers gone in Round 1 would be sweat. SN could focus on covering the games instead of cheer leading for TO. When I watch them it is all about the $ signs stamped on their sorry faces.
  20. I am no fan of Trudeau as he has weakened Canada consistently since first elected. Inflation is one of the measuring sticks that indicates that. Debt service on government debt will continue to climb. At what % of the budget does it have to hit before people wake up? Investment capital continues to leave Canada. People should ask why? Investment improves productivity and thereby increases the ability to service debt. The reverse is happening. Trudeau policies have much to do with this.
