  1. The bastard! They probably rejected his building 52 Trump hotels there. Payback is a bitch.
  2. Pretty deep Ray. Progressives descend into some kind of moral equivalency rationale to justify almost anything. Sacrifices made mean nothing if remembered. IMHO the empty head that leads Canada is a prime example of where we are now. Maybe he will holiday long enough to return with his goatee and plumed hat. Reassuring. Geopolitics deals in harsh realities. From medieval ME and all that entails to rogue countries ruled by thieves like Russia, China and Nork. To snow flakes like the EU and Canada. People who take without compunction to those that bend over and let them.
  3. It is the progressive Liebel government who nationalized the print media with a $600 million bribe. Not a whimper from the left.
  4. Benning moves Baer by the TDL because it should be for maximum value. His CAP hit is the biggest issue. Any acquiring team is likely a playoff bound team looking for injury relief. Benning has to jump on that kinda deal.
  5. Ericksson is not a top 6 player. At some point this spring I hope he is dealt and that players who will be with the CUP contender in 2-3 years start to get his spot. #1 choice right now is Jake. Pearson-Horvat-Virtanen would be a heavy line. Jake has that wicked shot that could give more fire power to the line.
  6. I was impressed with his partner from last year, Fox. He had a solid game for the NYR last night. Hoping Rathbone goes pro at season's end.
  7. The only way he won't be there is if Benning gets an offer. Goldy is playing for more options to his career. He isn't going to bump anyone from the current Van roster. He will be moving at some point. Same as Baer. Good seasons and a playoff run helps their careers.
  8. Why wouldn't Hoglander be the target on that play? He is the top scorer in the tourny! The Russian player was not trying to avoid the contact and Hogs did not move towards the Russian. It was a physical play that had a player go down. Last I checked hockey was still a physical game.
  9. Sorry but that wasn't playoff hockey or even close to it. The Rangers pushed thru most of the game and with any finish and they win walking away. The negatives: Trevor Linden: Curious how Trevor isn't available any time there is a major event. Last night wasn't what it could be because he wasn't there. '94 was Linden and MacLean. The franchise has to make peace with Linden one way or the other. D-zone: was often a fire drill as the NYR puck possession was constant. Canucks must have turned the puck half a dozen times on chip passes in the d-zone that were turned. I understand that the club wants to be a puck possession team but at certain points the play has to be up the boards and out. The positives: Marky: His rep is growing to match his body. What a game as he pulls a Kirk MacLean. How many games has he won for his team this year? Canuck centers: 69% in the FO is outstanding. Combined with Marky it won the game. Puck possession is great defense. Green: noticing that Green plays the top 6 a lot in the first 2 periods and then brings the 3rd line on more to close. Fresh legs against a more tired NYR team. Virtanen gets a few extra shifts. Green is showing interesting game management. Mott: Not sure how he could be used but I can see Virtanen playing more top 6 and Mott taking some shifts on the 3rd line. IMHO Mott is carrying the 4th line right now. The boys of '94 looked good last night. Patty was smiling. Best of health to Gino as he escaped near death from 2 years ago. I will never forget going to a Canuck game in the Saddledome when the Canucks were dragging along at the bottom. The only players who came to play that night were Trevor Linden and Gino Odjick. Many fans today don't realize that the Canuck ritual of turning away from physical play was well established before Gino. He single handedly to took on whole teams and they ran! Absolutely no one on that '94 team had a bigger heart and desire to win than Trevor Linden. He is the best Canuck of all time. It will take a special player to unseat him.
  10. His Dad Gus was smiling down on his boy. What a '94 run he had.
  11. Ericksson is not a top 6 player and yet he plays there. Bottom line I suspect is the video resume in a hope to deal him. That said he is playing the best he has in 3 years.
  12. So right. He was setting team mates up all tourny with little result. Great looking kid.
  13. Australia is extreme by nature of its geography. A desert with a fringe of green around the outside. What is happening there is nothing new. It is being hyped just as the Amazon is burning was. It fits a political narrative.
  14. Hoglander braced himself for contact and gets the gate. Odd that the top scorer in the tourny wouldn't think he was a target? Not like the Russian was avoiding him. The elbow was not up on contact.
  15. His passing has been top notch thru the tourny. His game translates to the NHL in a big way IMHO. Watch how his coach uses him. He is on the ice when it counts.
  16. Good work. Progressives are so desperate for any hit on Trump that they willfully ignore the ME history of the Iranian attacks against their neighbors. To a degree I am sympathetic with the Iranians as the world really didn't care much when Hussein invaded Iran. The Saudis should also carry a lot of responsibility to what has gone in the ME. Even as Obama dumped pallet loads of cash into Iran it did not work. Not unlike the Roman Senate that paid tribute to keep the hoards out. The Americans have been disengaging since Obama and Trump has continued that.
  17. Pretty good summation Harry. I think your point about the Canadian market being saturated is very accurate. Canadian broadcast revenue to the NHL could be eclipsed by the new USA broadcast rights being negotiated over the next year. There have been suggestions that the USA markets will be regionalized like the NBA, MLB and the NFL. This could increase the revenue to the NHL substantially. From the business prospective it is hard to argue with the job Bettmen has done. Sales increase every year. The CAP increases. Establishing a CAP and revenue sharing has benefited many clubs especially the Canadian ones. Some of these franchises would not have survived otherwise. The reality is that TO-Montreal-Vancouver are likely the only serious competitors. Quebec would be another weak sister and I cannot see a franchise going there over another club going to TO. Does the NHL favor USA cities in CUP play? Anyone who watched in 2011 would have to say yes. Can a Canadian club win a CUP? I still say yes. The 2011 Canucks failed as much because of their weakened blue line and goal tending. They did not have a game plan to counter the Bruins heavy game and it cost them.
  18. Granlund was part of the process Van had to go thru as they developed their roster towards a CUP. Benning picked him up and he played a number of solid games for the club. Eventually he was replaced but no one should be sad about the experience. Hope he finds a spot.
  19. Much of the early Israeli airforce were American Jews, vets of WW II. They bought airplanes from Spain I think. Contrary to a earlier post Israel is quite efficient at producing their own arms. They are world leaders in many fields. Produce their own fighters.
  20. I have a friend who was 'loaned' to the Saudi airforce. His role was to train pilots and write a operations manual. As you said he had many Saudi royal family members and most were not just useless but actually dangerous. Many learned enough to get in the air but were not capable. No discipline.
  21. I am not clear on the point you are making? You seem to be focused on Muslims being able to wear religious garb in the work place so I assume that Christian stuff would be also. That rationale then extends itself to any group who identifies themselves in that manner. It could be taken to the extreme of KKK fans doing the same thing.
  22. I wouldn’t send my dog across the street to break up a Saudi Iran dust up. The Saudis are a joke as I am I am told by people who have worked there. Their military is dominated by wannabes. I have been sympathetic of tic of the Iranians. They fought off the Saudi backed Hussein Iraqis costing millions of lives. They have reason for distrusting their neighbours. Trump has detached the USA from some of their ME open ended commitments which is fine by me. Oil independence allows it and it’s long pass due that the Euros carry their own weight there.
