[Report] Maple Leafs name Brad Treliving as GM
Boudrias replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
Laffer Gardens will be filled with Boston Pizza counters. Brad gets the last laugh so to speak. He will be quick on the trigger to move Matthews before he can bolt. Of course the HNIC panel will have a field day with this. Auto CUP with Brad there. Brad likes ex-Canucks. Maybe he hires Green to coach? Benning to scout? -
I expect Hogs will be offered a 3 year bridge deal. What might surprise is if he wants a 1 year deal instead. He experienced the bite of NHL reality last year. Does he respect the Canuck decision to send him down or does he think he is good enough to test elsewhere?

[rumours] Canucks NCAA & Euro FA targets
Boudrias replied to Ted Lasso's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Sure but he wants 5% of all contracts. Agents like that sort of thing. -
[Rumour] Canucks interested in Alexis Lafrenière

If memory serves when Minny moved to Dallas after they merged with the Cleveland Barons. They took the best of 2 orgs for free because the NHL was facing bankruptcy of both teams. IMHO there should have been a dispersal draft of the Barons to be fair to other NHL cities. As much as I like Jim Nill the Stars roster have some real douches. Benn, Seguin and lets not forget Suter who is a real cheap shot artist. Some of their young talent looks very good. -
Abby played Martin in playoffs. Silovs in Abby makes sense. During the course of a season opportunity usually arises. Looking for the younger Abby team to develop next year with Silovs being a core member.
-
How did they ensure the Olympic hockey team with all that talent? I don't know. It was done some how. I think the NHL and NHLPA has to sanction this type of thing.

Garland is a perimeter player with a little snarl. In the Bronze game the puck battle drifted into the USA corner with a d-man battling the Latvian forward. Garland backed off to the half boards and waited for the battle outcome. Considering the score I thought he should drop down closer to the battle. Also noted that Garland was making his signature spin with his puck possession in the Latvian d-zone and the D-men were simply pinning him to the boards as their puck support took possession. Garland had a pretty decent tourny but he had big ice to work with and some questionable opposition. I consider him a decent regular season winger who would likely fade in CUP compete.

I rather he play steadily in Abby and be available for call ups if needed for next year. Abby should have a good team next year and Silovs will be a critical piece. That said I am not crazy about Demko playing more than 50 games. Who will be his backup? We don't know what the roster will be come October. Most fans are expecting some trades. Who is in net for the Canucks and for how many games might be part of the fallout.

I suspect all these players had insurance. Petey wanted to play for Sweden but could not arrange insurance fast enough. It sounded a little strange at the time but who knows? Your point about RFA or UFA's being reluctant is bang on. Even with insurance it is questionable whether an injury would not have long term impact on earnings.

2023 IIHF World Hockey Championship
Boudrias replied to alt kilgore's topic in General Hockey Discussion
The Laffers should draft the entire Latvian team sans Silovs of course. -
Without KB3 on the HNIC panel the experience is indeed cringe worthy. Yes, what he tried to do to Alex Burrows was as low as you can go. What many fans forget is how badly the HNIC group wanted the Canucks to fail in 2011. McLean led the tone of all that IMHO. The gross late hit by Aaron Rome was a McLean favorite. Your right Deb it is to nice to be rehashing this stuff. Enjoy.

[Report] Maple Leafs part ways with GM Kyle Dubas

Pitt is in big trouble as they age out. Crosby, Malkin and Letang. I doubt any of them will waive their NTC so that Pitt can move them for some youth. -
Investing in the stock market - Discussion
Boudrias replied to AV's Coin's topic in Off-Topic General
Reading the GOOGL 2022 Annual Report. Fascinating stuff. Brin and Page control the company with 51% of the voting stock. R&D spend of $39.5 billion. Revenue has grown 54% over the past 3 years. Global tax paid of $71.3 billion. AVGO up almost 12% on Friday. -
Sure some love for Lui even if he did crap his shorts in 2011 in more ways than one. It was his CUP to win in 2011. How about some kudos to Paul Maurice. He says no thanks to the dressing room in Winnipeg and takes on the Panthers. The team underwhelmed thru the season and yet pulls it together for a great CUP run. Hard not to cheer for these guys.

Benn to get hearing for crosscheck .
Boudrias replied to SilentSam's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Who can forget the cheap shots Messier laid out in the '94 series. Almost 30 years ago. Wow!. Benn has a personality that grates, unlike his brother. I thought the crosscheck on Stone could have hurt the guy in a very bad way. Not the first cheap shot he has taken in his career. He likes to use the stick. I actually have more respect for Sam Bennett's game. -
(Rumour) 4 teams interested in J.T. Miller
Boudrias replied to combover's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
That's what it is all about. How many times has Allvin said that he is open to any deal that makes his team better. Allvin had no option on Miller or Boeser. He resigned them which gave him an option for future trades. Miller has a looming NTC when his new contract kicks in. Many fans want to retain JT as his play would get the Canucks into playoffs, possibly quicker than if he was traded. I agree with your take about the Canuck timeline and that moving Miller makes sense. As always it is all about what comes back and how it improves the depth and long term prognosis for the Canucks. IMHO the Canucks do not have near enough depth in the org. -
We used to jump at 1000 feet, minimum. Talked to a Canadian military jumper who said he had gone at 500 feet. The guy is lucky he didn't fall out.

A certain amount of faith in Allvin and his crew is required. I never saw him play for Detroit so have no basis to judge what we got or not. Will have to wait until training camp.
