[PGT] Los Angeles Kings at Vancouver Canucks | Nov. 18, 2022

It was a nice effort by the team. The win looked more decisive than it was as Demko played well. EP40: Is becoming/ has become a complete hockey player. They could put a camera on him and I would watch with pleasure. Hogs: There will be a role for this kid. Like his speed, puck retrieval and tenacity Bear: Like his game. Steady with nice passes. Meyers: almost makes as many mistakes as Stillman. Stillman: hard to watch him play when Burroughs is sitting. Is management being patient or simply showcasing him for a multi-player deal. 4th Line: What not to dislike with this group. Very solid game against LA. -
I checked with Service BC. Then I checked my Portal and none of my shots are there. How about you?

Sure. Obviously stupid men.

It is the idea that the majority of people do not realize that media make their money by the number of clicks on their material. The more extreme the headline the more clicks. Profits up. Trump runs for POTUS is, a you said, a bonanza of $'s. Is the ex-pat royals, Harry & Meggy any different? Constant stream of headlines about how outraged they are! Click, click! I think more and more people are simply disconnecting as they realize they are being played. It is no dif in Canada as the Libs funnel hundreds of millions of $'s to the media in Canada. The majority of Canadians don't appear to have a problem with that.

What is far more important is that the vast majority of the public do not trust media. That situation predated Trump. When the public does not trust what they are reading or hearing it undermines our society. Those on the left or right can take advantage. Media was supposed to be the unbiased medium that could expose excesses that inevitably happen. I suggest that if media was the pillar we expect then people like Trump never would have got traction in the first place. Many on the left also get away with preying on public ignorance of their actions. BLM is a classic as the principals pocketed millions of $. The excesses of a few cannot be the standard that the majority aspire too. Our society has descended from great aspiration to being 'influencers'. The idea that being an 'influencer' would have the highest hit rate in a poll versus the Chinese where being an astronaut was #1 is incredibly sad.

We had our 4th Covid shot on Wednesday (Pfizer) and other than a tad more sleep had no ill effects. Flu shot at the same time, opposite arm. What is a head scratcher to me is that vaccine records are not posted to our Health Portals. Seems like Service BC is trying to create their own info bank which ignores citizen convenience and possible safety?

Not being a Twitter user I find this all to be a bit of a joke. Yes the world's richest man is chastised for layoffs just before X-Mass. The fact that this is going on throughout the business world right now doesn't seem to register. Most tech companies are laying people off as their revenues plummet. Musk buys Twitter and pays far to much for it but the Twitter Board sees him as a 'white knight' and endorses the takeover almost immediately. Maybe because they couldn't make money? Meanwhile the world of crypto is imploding with fraud that dwarfs Enron and the world of social media hears crickets. FTX wasn't even keeping proper books! Thousands are losing their jobs in that industry (?). Are they better than Musk? $10's of billions missing. This is just getting started. But Musk, misdirected or not, who does employ 100,000's of people in his companies is a bad guy. Wow. How about we start another thread based on the crimes of FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried? Where did Sam hide his billions? How many jobs did he cost people? Was his company ever legitimate? Mush versus Bankman-Fried? Which person has benefited mankind the most? Questions to ponder.

Is there any other Canuck player who hit the post or crossbar more than Boeser last year? No, I didn't think so. -

Well Boston fixed the 2011 Stanley Cup so why would the NBA be any better? Well for that matter there are more gangsters in the NBA so it is totally doable. -
[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks

How do you make the CAP work? Love to see Meyers on that Laffer back end. No, actually Meyers seems to be a nice guy, no one deserves that. -
I think Charlie Munger's take as he was interviewed by MSNBC was bang on. Not a real industry. A collection of charlatans and thieves. This was never an investment it was all about the latest gimmick for people to get rich quick.

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
Boudrias replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Making a hockey trade that addresses the d-side is fine as long as the returning player fits the age profile. A player that can develop towards a contending team. One trade is not going to make this group into CUP contenders. I am at a point now where the team regaining traction and actually making playoffs will be a negative. Negative in the sense that it might convince management that they can make a winner with the roster that exists. Obviously the situation will not remain as is. Miller and Boeser can be moved before their new contracts kick in. Horvat is having a huge year which makes him a valuable trade piece. Does Bo want to stay if the plan is for major changes? If he wants to stay in that eventuality he will be in his early 30's before serious CUP contention. I suspect frank conversations are being had with Bo about the club's future plans. Obviously if it is to move on then his value goes up if a new contract with his new club is agreed too. -

Artemis I lifted off yesterday. Full of dummies like Musk's Tesla that he sent into space a few years back. This flight spends 2 weeks circling the moon in prep for a manned mission in 2024. This rocket can lift 10 ton and the model coming will lift 27 ton. They say it has a bigger lift than StarShip but I put nothing past SpaceX. They land their boosters on pads whereas Boeing is still splashing theirs. Musk says he will send people to the moon as well. Artemis 3, launch date unknown, will land a crew on the moon. Maybe not environmentally friendly but I think mankind has to start thinking big again. Reach for Mars and beyond.

Funny story. Back in the '80's Shell led the way introducing computers into the wholesale fuel side of their business. I had cut my teeth on their printed reporting and adapted to their software quite quickly because I knew where everything had to go. The funny aspect of that was that Shell were sending their young execs out to the field so I could train them. I would spend an hour showing them how to do some report and then they would turn around later in the day and try and shave money off my operating budget because I wasn't a smart enough businessman. Go figure! You always find people who simply think they are smarter than the next guy. They can be bosses, owners, or workers.

Let the young fella get his NFL aspirations out of his system. I am hoping we can keep him for another year at least. That NFL have + 300 pounders dancing around the field like gazelles. If one of those guys looked sideways at me I would likely have a heart attack. I was surprised to see a 3QB in the NFL can make $1.5 mil and a 2QB as much as $7 mil. The Lions would be stretched to pay him $500 k.

Nice post. Agree with everything. 1) Garland's ability to recover pucks and then make plays is very superior. You have to enjoy watching him. 2) The 4th line was very solid. Joshua? This guy was making a lot of nice passes! Boudreau had them out late in the game. Good for them! 3) Sneaky Petey. He racks up the points in a almost quiet fashion. What has impressed me most about his game this year has been his d-side game. 4) Bear was solid and Meyers wasn't. 5) Burroughs: At 20 minutes TOI it is max for now. His game is still growing. Getting better with TOI. 6) OEL: Boudreau had him at 17:40 which is where he should be these days. 7) Boeser: I wanted this guy moved last year. Your point is well taken, he cannot carry a line. Take his PP time away and he played about 9:30 minutes. The only player that generates much of anything on that line is Hogs. If PA could get a 2nd for Boeser I'd take it. Hoping he can put a season together might increase his value but hard to watch.
