I find it unbelievable that Rutherford and Acquillini did not have a very frank talk about how the Canucks move forward. Different scenarios and what would trigger a full rebuild. If ownership was not prepared to let Rutherford take the direction he thought was necessary I doubt he would have taken the job. What ever happens there should be some kind of major move within a week to 10 days.

If it was all about the money then why spend to the max. Spend on stuff that hasn't much to do with the product on the ice. Sure ownership could be simple fans who want a winner now. I don't think so but what do I know? Since Rutherford has gotten here he has hired a huge front office. We'll see where that leads.

He will be manning a clip board for years. If he had a full season and won a Gray Cup then maybe not. What really hurt during that game was seeing Buck Pierce calling the offensive plays. Such a great Lion and we lose him to Winnipeg. It is like Dickensen coaching the Stamps. Pierce as a sounding board for Rourke. Make it happen BC Lions.

Does anyone seriously think this is a coaching issue? I didn't hear much criticism of Boudreau last spring. Canucks have 1 d-man playing top 4 quality and he has d-zone issues. #6 isn't playing like a top six forward and yet he is on the 1PP. 2 Russians Mic and Koz are struggling. 2 trades: Stillman is a wash. Studnicka looks like a keeper and then gets hurt. Keep the 26 year olds and younger (except Boeser) and move the rest out. Blow it up. Decide the type of game you want to play and if BB doesn't want to coach that way let him go. I'd keep him. Strip it down!

Apparently assets were being paid out to some investors in the Bahamas when not available to others. All sorts of fraud and maybe outright theft going on here.

Investing in the stock market - Discussion
Boudrias replied to AV's Coin's topic in Off-Topic General
AVGO hit $513 this morning. Hit hurts because I should have bought more. Such a volatile market I thought I could ladder in but it move higher to fast. GSY is up 16% but it is a bit of an outlier for me. I am holding on news. -
Tank Hard for Bedard - Playoff chances are already Slim
Boudrias replied to Provost's topic in Canucks Talk
I agree that Miller is absolutely movable. If the field is narrow then retain $1 mil and see what offers are made. PA and JR knew when they resigned him that they would have until the TDL to move him if that was the decision. Same for Boeser. The question might be how willing Bo will be to resign to a team that is likely going into full rebuild. He has paid his dues here and by resigning might never realize his CUP dreams. Fans have to realize Bo might be gone as well. I am on the full rebuild side as I don't see any other option. -
I think there is a case to be made for what the full impact of increased credit cost will have on may of the tech companies. When money cost are + 5% versus 1% the economics become questionable. Many people have already forgot the basis for QE where politicians were desperate to generate GDP growth. Why was GDP growth so important? IMHO because many governments had GDP grow of 2.5 to 4% built into their forecasts to make their budget estimates work. This in an environment challenged by demographics and deglobalization. The vast majority of tech firms were not profitable. Twitter was no exception. Yet there was a huge pool (excess of 1 trillion $'s) sloshing around the world looking for a quick return. I've never seen such volatility in markets.

We are scheduled for #4 shot tomorrow. What is the latest between Pfizer and Moderna shots. I have been told to wait for Pfizer?

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
Boudrias replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I certainly hope that PA moves Miller and Boeser before Horvat. The question becomes whether Horvat wants to stay if the team takes a step back to get their CAP under control and move to more youth. If body language is any indicator it appears to me that Bo is not on board with whatever is being discussed. If Bo goes I see a complete tear down. -
As much as I like Burroughs play I do want him platooned with Rathbone. Whichever plays should get at a minimum 15 minutes of TOI. If the d-core is the weakness of this team (not sure about that being the only problem) then the forwards have to take some responsibility. Make the safe play as a matter of course in the 1st and then bring more offense in the 2nd & 3rd if needed. Fans have to stop passing absolute judgements on 2-3 year players. Unbelievable some of the assumptions.

How unusual is FTX? So much of the digital coin story was a lot of smooth and fast talking promoters IMO. lots of money to be lost yet.

Reality is that you could probably build 250,000 condos/apartments in Vancouver and fill them very quickly. I think that is the scale that BC and Canada are faced with if 500,000 immigrants are to come each year for many years in the future. Apparently CMHC is funding 2900 units in Vancouver currently. Not enough. I have no idea why private capital would invest in housing for a possible 4-6% return. Jimmy often suggests co-op housing which would be a partial solution.

Sure they lost but there is a lot to look forward too. A lot of youth on the Lions. It is hard to keep rosters together but hopefully they all come back, especially Rourke. Hoping he does because going to an NFL team to be a backup to the backup cannot be much fun. Another year with the Lions and a Grey Cup in the resume might get a better opportunity. As far as the game went it was all about the Winnipeg running game. They couldn't stop the guy. He won the game for them.

I thought Burroughs had a solid game against Boston.

In an earlier post Alf you said ownership had to have an attitude adjustment about how winning teams are constructed. I would expand that critic and suggest that most of the Canuck fanbase have to rethink this team. I don't know how the Acquilinis view the Canuck situation. Most likely their attitude is much like most Canuck fans. They want a winner. What I have seen of their tenure is a willingness to pay to the maximum to make a winner possible. Have they followed the best possible directions? If they have not then a fair level of blame should be placed on team management who have not convinced them of an alternate route. There have been a series of people who have moved thru the org and have failed. I don't put all the blame for what is going on with the Canucks on ownership. At some point the fans have to seriously look at their own attitudes. Quick to suggest they want a serious rebuild but then call for playoffs at whatever price. Historically management has most often folded and made short term deals to do what the fans screamed for, playoffs. A tear down could take another 5 years in the wilderness. Most of the players we consider core will likely be gone. A lot of losing in the process. No guarantee of success. All this aside I think it has to be done. -
So your say'in the possession game is out of the question? How about a neutral zone trap? How about a rumble on the opening face off? Marchand likes to kiss guys so maybe Schenn back hands him during warmups? Miller should wear a Bruin jersey during warmup. That would throw everyone off. Gotta think outside the box.

Both OEL and Stillman were chasing the puck a lot in the d-zone last night. IMHO Rutherford's comment about structure was pretty accurate.

Boudrias replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
As a long term fan I simply don't see enough in this roster to be CUP competitive. I don't think saying that makes me less of a fan. Reality creeps in no matter what org is looked at. Management assembles rosters with the best of intent. There can be lots of talent in that mix but it doesn't mean you win a CUP. -
I have some tulips I can sell you cheap. Their not frozen, yet.

Your all wet Alf. The Nuckers are going on a scoring rampage tonight. Especially Mik who gets a hatty against his old team. I would give my left n.. to see this. It would be as good as making playoffs! The Laffers crying in the 3rd with the score so bad it isn't worth pulling their tender. That guy who everyone was posting his picture on here walking out after the game with his 'special' pants on backwards! All the HNIC pundits in shocked silence expect for Kevin who just sits there and chuckles into the mike. I can't wait. Ya, I believe in a tear down but not until this game is over.

What has Musk really destroyed in Twitter? Prior to his takeover Twitter rarely made any money. When Musk made his offer to buy it he was embraced enthusiastically by Twitter management. Dorsey had already flown the coop. Are Musk, Dorsey, Zukerberg and Bezos all quasi nazis waiting and scheming to take over American media? Each have been highly successful and that leds to a higher opinion of one's mental genius I guess. Do they want to influence the direction of opinion that affects them? I suspect so. There opinion is not worth any less than most politicians and both these groups have to much. Bottom line for me is that if more citizens used a bit more critical thinking the influence of all these people would be less. Society would be better off. I was encouraged by the USA election results. It appears to me that the center gained strength and the more radical extremes of the Dems and GOP lost influence. Trump is losing influence and '24 looks like a more reasoned debate. Politicians around the world have been buying their success at the polls with taxpayer earnings from future generations. Even that option is fading quickly. At some point leaders have to clearly state how they will pay for their promises and actually discuss the pros and cons of what they advocate. That is not happening now.
