  1. I agree. Never saw an issue with his skating.
  2. Good for Phil. I guess we will see if he still has wheels and whether better players will help his game.
  3. Sorry, who is Bernie? I won't disagree that Musk isn't a bit strange. By saying that I am giving some credence to the very media I am criticizing. Our perceptions of so many people is crafted by those who produce media. This is an industry which is not unbiased either for political leanings or for P&L reasons. How does one realize an accurate assessment? IMHO Musk is a genius with enough business acumen to have created PayPal, Tesla, SpaceX and his boring machine company. People like him should be celebrated. Twitter? No idea, I don't use it but do read some of it as the Ukraine war necessitates a old dog to new tricks.
  4. Kinda laughable as Musk is automatically guilty 'of something' as soon as he 'appears' to lean conservative. The narrative is pretty predictable.
  5. The GTA Double A Commercial League. The "Don C" of hockey calls the play from the stands. Wobbly pops are free after every game.
  6. Definitely not a fan of the KHL so I will withhold judgement of AK until I see him against NHL quality players.
  7. I like the idea of giving this a try if a RD doesn't materialize.
  8. I have great hope for IM. His role in Lafferville was stunted. I thought he had a great playoff, even if short duration. BB will give him more ops.
  9. I thought the Kadri contract was a bit of a desperation play by Calgary. Term and money. I like Kadri's game and his ppg thru his career is partially explained by where he was played. I certainly wouldn't argue that there could be some reversion to mean. Desperation by Calgary as their time for contention is now and they just lost some youth in MT & JG. Do they have enough with these signings? I don't think so.
  10. I understand why fans want playoffs. However, after all these years I want a CUP! These two goals over the next 2 seasons do not jive well. IMHO the Canucks are still building the base that makes them a true contender for a CUP. The RD is still the biggest challenge facing the team but org depth is another one. Spending scarce CAP on resigning Miller( at his age) undermines the larger perspective. Ultimately the core has to be resigned and the depth ECL contracts will likely allow the team to be true contenders. Kuzmenko is on a 1 year deal. What happens if he scores 30 goals and wants a contract with a significant pay increase? What happens if a RD comes along but CAP is needed to get him? The best and safest move for PA is to move Miller, hopefully before training camp.
  11. What I don’t see any coverage of recently is the $ value to NHL teams of the USA broadcast deals signed last year. If memory serves it was to be $5 million per team. I have never seen any expected revenue guesstimates on the legalized gambling revenue either. The NHL is developing a significant revenue stream independent of gate receipts. Long anticipated but realization is happening now. Growth is real. Yes, I can see $100 mil CAP within 5-6 years. Also ask yourself how soon another 2-3 teams are added at $1 billion a pop? When you look at the growth prospects for NHL revenue use other pro sports leagues as a comparable.
  12. I thought Truscott had a solid tourny. IMO he could develop into a NHL player.
  13. I am looking forward to another look at JL in December. TOI makes a dif and I suspect he gets more ice. Also suspect there will be a new Swedish coach.
  14. Kyle Turris and his wife are truly quality people. Wish him the best. IMO his development was always questionable as his career started in ARZ. A franchise desperate for scoring and leadership leaned on him to early in his career. Gretzky didn’t help. Sound familiar Canuck fans?
  15. Been a hockey fan since the Polluck Habs. When the Canucks entered the NHL I transferred somewhat reluctantly but did so all the same. Being a fan has transitioned from watching games on TV or listening on the radio. Today it is also this website. I look for news on our players but also have spent time on the Off-Topic side, especially since the Ukraine war started. I am weaning my self off this as it is rather pointless. Not the war coverage but the other topics.
  16. To your point Deb. He never left the bench and he was standing at the end of the game. Good signs. When he went down it didn't look like his ankle was twisted. The Lions are real fun to watch this season. Yes, Rourke is fun to watch but I also like the way the defense is maturing. They made a lot of great plays last night.
  17. Jurmo has gotten stronger thru the tourny. Anxious to see how he does against Canada. WJC has lots of fast skating players who lose their checks which puts pressure on the d-men. What I like about Jurmo is his skating but also being able to find the open man for a pass. He passes well.
  18. What I liked about JL's game were the passes he made to team mates. He didn't get a lot of TOI but I liked what I saw. The Swedish team seemed somewhat confused on how they were playing? Coaching?
  19. I think your point is bang on. How do you plan 2-3 years out with this type of injury. The issue is TOI and where it is invested for the best long term success of the team. Not knowing the cause of these headaches leaves everyone guessing?
  20. Really have high hopes that Hogs can bounce back this coming season. So much talent. A little work on his d-side game will do wonders.
  21. Maybe a better skater than Edler. Like what saw of him. Patience and coaching. Get him to Abby asap.
  22. Why in the world would you want to play hockey in Russia right now?
  23. Do you think Rutherford & Company sit around a table and play the "what if game"? What if Kadri goes to NJD or back to the Av's? What will the NYI do then? Obviously JR & PA have had conversations with these clubs already and have some idea of where their interest and concerns are. It is like a chess board and I think your ideas about how the NJD have to react if Kadri goes to the NYI is bang on. Limited number of options which become more limited as pieces are traded. NHL GM's also know what Vancouver wants as well. Difference being is that Van has a season to play this out. Teams that want Miller need him by the beginning of the season. I think Jimmy gets what he wants.
  24. The increase in the Management payroll under JR suggests to me that FA has full faith in Rutherford. I mean JR has assistants for the assistants. They probably have 2 guys on the skate sharpener!
  25. Lions should be sold out every game. Fun to watch with some serious stars on the roster. If the d-side gets a little better against the run they will be Grey Cup finalists.
