  1. Joulevi got another contract. Jake would have to put some very serious effort into his game to have any opportunity. The 2 Kanes got more chances with sketchy personal backgrounds. More to do with Jake's attitude towards hockey after all this. He might pack it in and try another direction. If the jury was right and he was not guilty I can see lawsuits against the Canucks, the NHL and his accuser. His career earnings will have been impacted from this.
  2. I catch myself thinking I am smarter than I am at times. Years of good markets will do that to people. I tell my wife to whack me with a rolled newspaper!
  3. I can see divided loyalties next month. We have Swedish prospects but no Canadians.
  4. Just pick the companies you want to hold and pick away at them. I have been buying GOOGL, CVS, BX. On the Canadian side I buy RY, TD, EIF, GSY if the yield is + 4%. Markets are so volitile that waiting is smart.
  5. He will get a top 6 opportunity in Van that he really didn't get in Lafferville. If he can continue his scoring pace that he had late season and in playoffs the Canucks might have a real homerun. If he does not I can see him as a solid 3LW option.
  6. I hope he sues everyone. He was found guilty by most before he even had his day in court.
  7. We went to a non a/c elementary school in 102 F. There was talk of cancelling school but it never happened. I can't remember anyone dying?
  8. Severson would be a given on the deal. More about the add ons. Miller has to be the gift that keeps on giving.
  9. Klim's development will be a commentary on how much the Canuck development process has progressed. Still very young at 19 going into his 2nd AHL season. His scoring is not as important as his game away from the puck. He has all the tools. Patience is critical for this kid.
  10. Great player but doesn't fit the timeline. I would re-up Miller first. A main reason for moving Miller is age and Landeskog is 29 as well.
  11. I thought JH kinda disappeared at the tail end of the Florida playoffs? Best scenario of a bad saga for the Calgary. I guess the new pieces can be flipped if they won't extend. I thought JH would have had a NTC.
  12. Tachuk goes to Florida. That amps up the pressure on the eastern conference teams to improve their rosters. The Laffers, TBay, and Bruins must be fuming.... Hmm... who should we send Miller too?
  13. I thought Dermott did well after his arrival. Pairing him with Hughes is something to try. He isn't a RD but has played there I think? You want to pull the plug on Dickenson and Poolman which might happen but at the least I suspect they will be in camp for a look, particularly Poolman. Especially true if a RD trade doesn't materialize. The other possible option might be Hughes at RD. I cannot think of any time last year where Hughes was at RD. If this was an option you would think it would have been tried. Imagine Hughes and OEL on the same PP?
  14. Canucks are not deep enough to allow Miller to walk. I suspect Allvin has pending offers that get revisited as camp draws closer.
  15. Fans in favor of resigning Miller are ignoring the likely term and money involved. They are assuming his play/production will continue at a high level for most of that contract. He is a great player and he might overcome the odds that he does not. You know I am in the trade camp for the reasons above. To much money to much term. I'll add another that doesn't get talked about much. The CAP hit. How do the Canucks re-sign the other players who's contracts are coming up next year and the next? Another resurgence of Covid that shuts down arenas will extend the COVID CAP freeze even longer. Not sure if that is a valid concern but it's out there.
  16. The story I read was that his wife was at a horse jumping event. I am sure he feels that his family gives up a lot for his career and gives back during the summer.
  17. We don't have any basis for a discussion.
  18. Yup I am one of those rip off shareholders. WhiteCap Resources is paying me 4.7% on my investment. 2 years ago it was 3.1%. Your regular rants center around corporate greed. Certainly no responsibility by government. I guess if it makes you feel good to release some of that pent up anger go for it.
  19. If he is not moved before the season starts his value weakens as the acquiring team doesn't get his play for the year. Why would Miller agree to a deal at that point by doing an extension to the acquiring team? At least at this point it is in Miller's interest to do an extension now to mitigate any injury or fall off in his play. This is why I want to move Miller now rather than later.
  20. Hughes is very young yet but look at his trajectory. As a player he has to be ranked on the roster as highly as Petey. He could easily be a ppg player and a Norris winner. As a team priority putting him with a partner that will compliment his game for years is a #1 need. I am OK with Meyers as a 2RD but not a 1RD. Love Schenn as a 3RD and a Rathbone mentor.
  21. I think you hit the reality of it. Sure there have been some signings but that has as many ? As not. If the focus isn’t at 1RD then this off season is a miss. IMHO A Miller trade brings that result. Still hoping that is the case. Worrying about the team that is iced in October is fun but it is more important about the team iced in the fall of 2025. We don’t want a repeat of Calgary so the young core has to see a progression towards serious CUP contention.
  22. Talk to the Russians about that. They have been waiting for well over a 100 years. What is truly scary today is the use of AI and software to monitor citizens. That is truly a yoke that might not be easy to take off.
