We will have to agree to disagree. The USA does not ship refined product back to Canada, the reverse is true. The history of the Canadian oil industry does not start in the '70's but 1947 with Leduc #1. It was not TO Baystreet or federal governments that funded the industry it was Houston, Texas. Do the Americans use Canada to their benefit. Sure they do and we repeatedly let them. LNG is the classic example. Your man Trudeau said there was no business case for Canadian LNG to Europe. Well the Americans are shipping Canadian gas to Germany produced from their LNG plants in Texas. In 7 years the USA has gone from 0 LNG to 11.1 cu ft/day of export. 3 more plants are under construction which will add another 5.7 cu ft/ day by 2025. There were 21 LNG project applications in BC in 2015 of which 2 are being built. You love the NEP which was a federal effort to nationalize the oil industry. It failed. But the ultimate goal was achieved as equalization drained hundreds of billions $ to eastern Canada anyways. The question might be asked why the federal government didn't buy up the industry at rock bottom prices 3 years ago? Cheap nationalization. But why do that when it can simply be stolen.

If memory serves all levels of government controlled about 32% of GDP. Today I believe that number is close to 55%. As much as progressives think capitalism is responsible for all the evil in the world their share in the economy shrinks each year. Canada is a socialist country where no one takes responsibility for failing systems. Lots of finger pointing but no solutions. I would argue that if the oil industry had been allowed to develop Canada's energy resources that Canada would be in the same strong financial position that Norway is. Last I looked Norway has a $1.4 trillion USD sovereign wealth fund. That pays for a lot of social benefits.

Look at Metcaf. I thought they would get rid of him last summer but they didn't. He had a good year last year.

[Report] Cale Makar suspended 1 game
Boudrias replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
I seem to remember Makar hitting a player earlier in the year an getting a concussion. He was leaning forward when he made the hit and had his head to far forward and hit the other player in the chest. Nothing dirty about the hit but not executed well by Makar. I don't consider him a dirty player. -
Comments on the American broadcast about the Tkachuk brothers last night. Matthew and Brady raised in an affluent hockey family with every opportunity to mail in their hockey careers and cash cheques. Point made is that they don't do that. They are top flight competitors whether you like the antics or not. IMHO Florida is lucky to still be playing as Boston was all over them.

Perhaps people should start questioning the cause of inflation.

Is There Anything We Can Do to Bring About a Change in Ownership?
Boudrias replied to TFerguson's topic in Canucks Talk
The beef about ownership is a narrow perspective IMO. Ownership has unfailingly shown a willingness to spend money on this franchise. Been doing it for decades now. I have seen all the ownership groups since '70. The Aquilini family are hands down the best. I am sure they have learnt a lot during their tenure. I am sure they have grown from fans to experienced owners. Maybe some decisions they wish they could do over but that comes with any business. If it is fair to criticize ownership then the same can be said of the fans. The lack of hockey knowledge is huge. I might suggest that this is changing but slowly. The demand for immediate change is unrealistic and undermines the long term prospects. My classic example is the sad history of Jake Virtanen and Jared McCann. Two teenagers who were rushed into the league based on fan demand and management appeasement of that demand. The new management appears to have a long term plan for success and deserve fan support unless they make bad decisions. To date they appear to be on a steady course. -
[Rumour] Nikita Tryamkin eyeing NHL return
Boudrias replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I think Woo is over 200 pounds. But you are right the Vancouver d-core is not close to big enough. Tryamkin is an option, likely on the 3rd pairing, but IMHO Allvin has to upgrade the top 4 this summer. Size does matter in playoffs. Regular season you can sgeeze by. -

Turns 29 in August. Maybe he is looking for a retirement contract. If he signs it will have to be a 1 year show me contract. He know Kozmenko came over on a 1 year deal and resigned for much better money. Try might bite on that idea. If he was younger his offer might be $1 mil but with his KHL years he might get a $1.5 offer from Allvin. -

Nope playoff games/series aren't managed. Conspiracy? The NHL powers is Lafferville, Boston and NY hold grudges when their management is brought into question. Hmm, Gillis has never got another GM job in the NHL? He came on TV and said out loud what every one knew. The Rome call was as brutal as the non call on the Raymond hit. -

I don't think there is room for Try and Schenn. There has to be TOI for younger prospects. Are you giving up on signing Gavrikov? -

Wouldn't that be interesting. He will be 29 in August. Can he play at 2RD? If he does sign it will have to be a 'show me' contract. He might do that considering how Kozmenko did that and got a decent 2nd contract. Quite the Russian contingent building on the Canucks. -
I suspect Horvat's ppg will revert to his career mean. Many fans are forgetting the dry spells he used to have. All that aside I wish him well. He came to the Canucks as a teenager and left a family man. He inherited the "C" from Hank because there really wasn't anyone else. A lot of bad years. Many nights he sat infront of a mike and answered inane questions from media. He spent time and money in worthy community functions. Bo did a decent job. The sad realization that Bo is faced with is the realization that he will never win a CUP during his career if he stays with the NYI. They'll likely get bounced the next game. The roster is aging out and there is likely a rebuild starting this summer. I am hoping that Petey and Hughes watch how this goes down and appreciate that their opportunity in Vancouver is better.

It was all about asset management when Marky and Tanev left. Add Toff as well. That much talent leaving the org without any asset coming back was absolutely brutal.

Schenn a absolute standout game for the Laffers last night. 11 hits! TO got a steal from Allvin but that was the market. I agree with your take. Canucks have to transition to the d-side group that will take them to serious playoff contention. I don't think/hope that Allvin is finished on acquistions/trades for the d-core. IMHO the TOI on the 3rd pairing has to go for development and assessment of players who might be with the contending roster in 2-3 years.

2022-23 Abbotsford Canucks Thread
Boudrias replied to CRAZY_4_NAZZY's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
Saddledome? If so I wonder if they sell it out? I was there to watch a pro lacrosse game and there was 12,000 there. Been to lots of Flamer/Canuck games and it was always sold out. Great atmosphere. -
RT likes PDG's board work which compliments Miller. He also has a nice shot. That said I don't think he is a top 6 player. 3rd or 4th line might still work for him.
