[GDT]: Canucks vs Isles, Feb. 1st, 2020, 10 PST on SNP
Mrwipeout replied to Qwags's topic in Canucks Talk
This is gonna be a difficult one. Islander coach set the structure for washington and has done the same to Islanders. Isles play structured and defensively and that makes this a big challenge for an offensive team like nucks. This game and tomorrow the oposite vs a high pressure type of team like canes. This will be a very close game and odds are definetly against us, early game and all that. Hoping for a 3-2 win. Markys save is etched in my mind and i hope Petey will score on the chances he gets.....if so, this game is ours!!! -
now thats a save....Hasek would have been proud
-
oh petey will get stronger alright.....the things he does is based on the way he thinks and reacts and that is on an elite level. Its a Huge part of why he has so much more potential then any other player in the league. I wouldnt even consider trading petey for anyone if i am considering a top first Line Center for the next 10-15 years. Imagine a stronger Petey which leads to an even harder shot then today....i mean seriously, physical attributes will improve a lot. But its his incredible IQ that makes the difference.

well all is relative but 3-4 years is probably a minimum. Detroit has had so many succesful years making it to the playoffs its pretty much bound to happen that they fall at some point. U cant get lucky and get a Zetterberg talent at 210 selection overall every 5 years or so. Dats and Zetterberg are incredibly missed and Kronwall and Lidstrom were Huge losses on D for them. They havent recovered at all. The only real talent there is Larkin imo. But i dont see Wings making it without 3 top tier forwards(at least one C) and 2 top tier Dmen. Maybe a few of those youngsters will take some major leaps in their development but i just dont see anything happening within a timeframe of those 3-4 years. i doubt they will even be close to the playoffs during those years.

Detroit needs a bit of everything at the moment id say. Zadina is a future prospect and has potential but Wings definetly need 2 young talented Dmen on Huggybears level and at least 3 young forward talents on the level of Horvat-boeser-Petey. They got a Looong way to go.

I thought the All-star weekend has shown how much Petey has grown since last year. Last year he looked a bit nervous and a bit star--struck maybe? This year he acted with a lot more confidence towards media and on the ice. Its great to see him evolve like this. As expected Weber won the hardest shot but Petey is in the top of the league with the power hes got in his shot in any case. U gotta luv how quick of a release hes got to back up that power also. all in all id say this was a great weekend for him and fun to have Marky and huggy alongside with him.

im also lookng forward to seeing Petey in the hardest shot competition. I wouldnt mind having ALL the all-star players do every drill instead of a selection to do a few, unless its some kind of other type of "team event" where u select a few to finish within a time limit. These things are far more interesting to watch then the games since the games are just fun and laughs and u dont want to hurt anyone. That usually means things just go silly and without a cause. The skills competition can instead be more prestigeous with the hardest shooter for every division and things like that. Thats something id love to see since u get to see the actual skill they represent.

Hughes will be a new Erik Karlsson if he improves the D aspect in his own zone. That means he will claim the Norris in ca 3-5 years from now. Dahlin might claim the Norris also and is better in his own zone then QH at the moment, but Dahlin is not close to where Huggybear is on offense.

Solid game...Demko was good in Net, and the guys didnt leave much room to sharks to play on. Kept the puck within the team and created some pressure. and now Division leaders...... not bad!!

play those that has more energy, less ice down for too many crappy plays. Let those with sharper minds and better jump in their legs play. 4 minutes of PP out the window.... well...except for Jakes shot which was not entirely bad. -

This is terrible....wayy too static plays...they dont skate enough and they just end up throwing some really terrible passes with wayy too small margins. result is obvious. u gotta skate and take the battles around and in front of the net. If they play like this its gonna end up in disaster. -

Big win tonight....important to shake off that tampa game asap....now we can move on and fight for the playoffs again. Its one big hornets nest with the top 5 teams all being within 2 points from eachother. Congrats to QH for becoming an ALL-star btw. -
-
Well i hate to break it to the haters but Eriksson has been good with Bo and pearsson....id keep him there now.
-
calling a substitutioner trash? hes battling like everyone else and hes done some goood things also. However if ur inconsistent and end up in a bad skid with loss of confidence u got to choose who looks the most hungry or the best. from day to day this can change unless u got some defined role to fill. I dont mind seeing him back bur if he doesnt perform at his optimum level he shouldnt be the first choice in the lineup.
-
I agree. Fantenberg has been ok but also some misstakes which almost seems to be a lack of sharpness. Id like to see Benn in a game or 2. Alternate pending on how they look at practice.

No...just no...just.....no! The team was fine after 1st and then??? i mean really, u got to at least get in the way when they start to score on faceoffs. the positions they got clean shots on marky was like.....bad. Tampa outplayed by being heavier and tactical with high pressure. This is one of those games where someone like ferland would have made a difference. Not that it woul have had a big impact when the team collapses like this. Theres nothing to learn from this, other then morale and commitment has got to be elevated and remember we are a team that is a lot better then this. -
30 points after 41 GP is seriously impressive. From the few games at the end of last season i thought he might get some problems adapting in the defensive zone and sure he needs to improve in that area. However his offense is through the roof. Hes definetly elite when it comes to carrying the puck as well as his passing plays. After midseason he has been ok in the defensive zone as well and this kid is gonna get better and better year after year. hes been so good he should definetly be in the All-star lineup imo.
