Im not sure how anyone can believe that losing your two best players for one year of huberdeau (potentially) who is five years older, an also older defenseman, some player, and a protected first is a good trade for calgary. I think they got what they could, and i dunno about you, but losing a 100 point (cough two 100 point players) for that is a kick in the balls.

(Rumour) Tkachuk trade in the works

Start the *Flame* rebuild right. Lose your best asset for nothing, and trade the rest for disinfectant. I cant blame benning for “losing” markstrom and tanev. At this point, it looks like they lost vancouver. -

A 6’3 17 year old athletic goalie, with a competitive streak.... I dont see a problem taking a flyer on that.

I think in Gretzky’s case, he just couldnt make the “translation” from what he knew about the game, into something that a lot of other players could utilize let alone understand. Kinda like if you or I were trying to explain how to use computers to someone in the early 80’s. “No no dont use DOS, just start windows and use your mouse to click on Word and type what you want.” *edit And referring to what you said, the lesser talented players that made good coaches had to rely on strategy, and understanding of the game to succeed, instead of just natural talent that cannot be taught. 99 was an anomaly in that respect though...he wasnt fast, didnt shoot that hard, wasnt physical....

3 min video about a google engineer who claims the google chat bot he worked on has become sentient, in the sense that he can have a conversation with it about a wide range of topics and that the bot expresses a fear of “being turned off” when asked about death. Obviously we arent talking Skynet here, but its fascinating to think that if/when computers truly become “alive”, it will be something like this that sparked it. You know, if this isnt proof it has begun. Its a little worrisome that google feels the need to file charges against the engineer, and the engineers defence is that “he was conversing with an employee”.

@grumpyone https://www.capfriendly.com/faq#thirtyfive_plus *edit A contract is designated a 35+ contract if the players age on the first year of the contract is 35 or older (as of June 30 prior to the year of the effective contract).35+ contracts that are two years in length or longer and:1. Have a signing bonus in the 2nd or later year, OR2. Are front-loaded Will not benefit from a reduced cap hit regardless of the players location of play, termination, retired status, or a buyout. This rule was introduced by the NHL to prevent teams from backloading contracts past when the player was expected to retire. An exception to this rule is that a team will receive a $100,000 cap hit reduction if the player is on the 2nd or later year of the contract and assigned to the minors

Delicious. I despise Vegas almost as much as Boston. Heres hoping their downward spiral continues. Florida finally looks like a real NHL team, so Arizona needs a new buddy to hang out with there in the bottom. Enjoy your perpetual rebuild Vegas! Their “fans” are going to be jumping off that bandwagon faster than rats off a sinking ship. Boooohooooo.

I imagine the medical staff is next. Questionable diagnosis and prescriptions. Also, cant remember who mentioned Pettersson and falling down, but im not sure that he has the frame to pack on muscle. Every time i look at him, i just picture a big white Gumby toy. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gumby
