  1. I’m really hoping that Calle Odelius will fall to us. That might be a long shot though but then again I never thought that Lekkerimaki would be there for us at 15 either.
  2. I’m really hoping that we can somehow trade for a second round pick. There’s some intriguing D men still on the board: Ryan Chesley, Seamus Casey, Calle Odelius, Mattias Havelid, etc
  3. No way! I still have a Hodgson jersey too! My girlfriend at the time (now wife) bought it for me for Valentine’s Day. A few weeks later when the trade deadline came and Hodgson was shipped out for Kassian. Needless to say, that jersey is in mint condition lol!
  4. Yeah I noticed several issues with that article. I’m no expert, but a 17 year old scoring 7 goals in 26 games in the SHL is pretty damn impressive IMO
  5. I didn’t notice any issues with his skating at all. In fact, I thought he was pretty explosive.
  6. I saw quite a bit of him at the U18’s this year and was blown away by him. He’s exceptionally skilled and absolutely dominated that tournament where the majority of the other first round draft picks played in as well. After watching him in the U18’s I never would’ve thought we’d be lucky enough to draft him at 15. This is a similar feeling of shock and gratitude that I had when Hughes miraculously fell to us at 7.
  7. Some very interesting players still on the board in Lekkerimäki and Kemell
  8. Absolutely! Me too! I nearly cried when we passed on Boldy lol. But Podz was definitely a solid consolation prize
  9. After how he dominated the Olympics and the WC as a kid against men, I would be shocked if turned into a bust (even with our Canuck luck lol). But I do absolutely agree that we go BPA. With mid round picks we could cheat towards positional needs, but in the early rounds it’s always gotta be BPA. Speaking of Slafkovsky, I’m really hoping that Canucks can get NJ’s 2OA pick and snatch him up.
  10. I’m guessing that a lot teams, NYR being one of them, were confident in their teams leading into the trade deadline and didn’t feel the need to pay the king’s ransom to attain Miller. However, after a bunch of these teams get ousted from the playoffs and they realize that they’re not quite as good as they thought, some of these teams might just circle back round to Miller in the offseason, realizing that he’s the type of piece they do need to take the next step to being a true contender.
  11. I really hope a solid RHD is available when we draft. Hell, let’s just draft RHD with every pick we have this year and hope that we finally solve the Canuck RHD curse lol (jk)
  12. I’m very happy to hear that this physically fragile headcase and his salary cap are off the books. Here’s to hoping that tomorrow morning bears fruit like Christmas and we end up with a new RHD stud prospect in our ranks!
  13. I entirely agree with your post. I’ve been surprised how much Lundkvist has been flying under the radar here. Possibly it’s because he doesn’t have Schneider’s size. But I would be thrilled if the package for Miller included either one of these RHD. We desperately need to insert more talent on our back end and IMO that’s precisely what we should target with any Miller trade. With Lundkvist being Swedish, I wonder if Allvin (or the Sedins, or Gradin) might have a little extra insight into him.
  14. Oh yeah, I agree about the locker room. I would hate to see what loosing Miller would do to our team morale. Nonetheless I would take that trade package that you mentioned there and run with that for sure. That has the potential to set our team up nicely in the near future. Lafreniere still has so much to offer and could break out as soon as next season, or maybe even this year with a change of scenery and a bigger role. And Schneider looks solid so far and could be a big help for us down our relatively week right side.
  15. Also, I’ve seen Boldy’s named floated around here a few times. If we could land him, I believe that would be a huge win for us. Having said that, I don’t believe that Minny would part ways with him, even in a 1-for-1 trade. I might get flamed for believing that, but I think that with Boldy they know they’ve got a legitimate stud on their hands for many years to come.
  16. There’s a very interesting article on Fansided that offers up five potential trade packages for Miller. However I do think a few of those packages could be beefed up a bit. Also, it’s worth noting that some of these suggestions have the Canucks retaining 50% salary. Boston: Jake Debrusk (LW)Fabian Lysell (RW)2022 First Round Pick Florida: Owen Tippett (RW)Matthew Samoskevich (RW)2023 1st Round Pick2024 2nd Round Pick Minnesota: Kevin Fiala (LW)Carson Lambos (D)2022 1st Round Pick Colorado: Alex Newhook (C/LW)2023 2nd Round PickTyson Jost (C/LW) New York: Braden Schneider (RHD)Filip Chytil (C/LW)2022 1st Round Pick If these were the only five options on the table, it’s extremely difficult to say which one I’d pick. Lysell is so appealing, and because of our lack of depth on RD the New York offer would be appealing too, and I’m a big fan of Newhook, so that’s a tough one to pass on too. Ultimately I think I’d go with the New York offer as the big talented RD in Schneider would be too tempting to pass and that’s exactly the type of player that our team needs. https://thecanuckway.com/2022/01/26/five-possible-trade-scenarios-for-canucks-jt-miller/amp/2/
  17. Good point! Let’s get ahead of this and trade him now then lol. I would hate to see him leave, but if this card is played right this trade could seriously help set us up for the best future when our young stars are properly ready to make a run.
  18. Not to be too much of an opportunist but Miller’s stock might’ve just risen even higher in Colorado after fellow centerman MacKinnon got injured again tonight. If it’s a long term injury (which I hope for his sake it isn’t) they might be willing to pay a king’s ransom for Miller.
  19. Just stop. Horvat is clutch and incredibly valuable to in so many ways. This guy has got some proper intangibles and is the heart of soul of our club. I would rather see any other player (not named Hughes lol) traded instead of him.
  20. Well said. I was reading through this forum hoping to get a bit more insight on our new GM and I found myself slipping into a dark depression lol. Seriously building a front office experienced cup winners doesn’t sound all that bad to me either.
  21. Motte has been hands down one of my favourite Canucks for the past few years now. But if the playoffs are looking out of reach by this time next month, and if contract extensions aren’t looking solid either, then let’s definitely maximize this asset while he’s healthy. I think we could fetch a solid return for him. Every GM knows that playoffs are gritty hockey, and I think a guy like Motte will be highly coveted for any team looking to make a run. I could see him landing us either a B+ prospect or a 2nd or 3rd rounder. I honestly would be upset if we got anything less than a 3rd round for him.
  22. Maybe we could trade Chaisson for him lol. Honestly god awful asset management. The moment we lost Jonah, was the moment that Green lost my support.
