  1. There were no mixed reviews on Jake. He was invisible. And for a player of his size, speed and potential physicality, he should never be invisible in the playoffs. He does nothing for this team and should be permanently replaced by MacEwen in the lineup ASAP.
  2. Some have made it sound like Jake did such a commendable thing by fighting Hartman in that game. But the Blues were down and almost out in the series at that point in time, and I'm pretty sure that Hartman picked this fight on his first shift in order to try and give his team a lift. I don't think Jake, out of the blue, became the kind of player who tries to give his team a big lift by taking on one of the other team's toughest players (though I really wish he was).
  3. JB has said he wants to get back the 2nd round pick he traded in this year's draft, and I think Jake will be his best asset for doing that.
  4. Ha ha, I'd love to have your enthusiasm for Jake playing the way he could be/should be, but I think I lost that a couple of seasons ago. He might just wreck the rink some night, but I think we know now he's never going to do it as consistently as he should be. It's just not in his mental make up.
  5. Exactly what I just said about Jake in the Current Roster section. So disappointing. The playoffs are made for a player with his assets, but except for his fight in the last game (which I think Hartman initiated), he has basically become the Invisible Man.
  6. Hey, if you can show the self-control to resist ordering pizza, even with all this jubilation, then your prospects for getting into great shape are outstanding. Big kudos to you, Bro, keep up the good fight! I know you can do it!
  7. Jake had a good fight, but so many Canucks fans were salivating at the thought of him finally playing in the play-offs, with the ramped up intensity and all, just waiting for all those big hits he would throw. Has he thrown a single hit yet? If so, I don't remember it. Sutter and others who some CDC posters have been so down on have shown way more intensity than Jake. I'm sure MacEwen will takes Jake's spot in the lineup when Tofolli gets back, and I'm looking forward to that. As far as I'm concerned, Jake's new nickname should be the Invisible Man.
  8. And when they won the Cup, they actually had Edmonson and Bouwmeester too!
  9. I dunno, if Eriksson keeps playing that way he has been, Benning may be asking for a first round pick to trade him in the off season ().
  10. One thing this play-in series has done is to remind everyone of the value of large, hard-hitting D-men during the post-season. That's something I don't think will ever change, but is something people tend to forget during the regular season.
  11. I just cringe anytime I see him rush the puck toward the other team's end. When he does, he almost always panics and makes a terrible giveaway right around their blueline. Watch if you don't believe me -- it's basically a never fail occurrence. That being said, I love his size and the physical element to his game -- two important components he adds to our D.
  12. Your stories don't give much hope for Ferland recovering well enough to play professional hockey anytime this decade. I think his attempts to return have gone on long enough. Hopefully his contract can be terminated, or at least put on permanent LITR, whichever helps with our cap situation the most.
  13. There can only be so may recycled coaches. The NHL would also be sadly lacking in coaches if the only 'real coaches' had to be recycled from other teams.
  14. Interesting you mention his voice. I tuned into a game he was doing earlier today and I thought it was him doing play-by-play, but wasn't completely sure, because his voice sounded strangely different to me.
  15. Which is kinda the point I'm making....
  16. What a strange time to request a trade. Right at the start of the play-offs, the worst possible time to let management and your teammates know that you want out, and at a time when a trade won't even be possible for the next several months!
  17. Does anyone else remember around the time of the trade deadline when there was a 'crazy' rumour out there that the Canucks were shopping Gaudette and also looking at adding Vincent Trocheck? My thought at the time is basically what DarkIndianRises is also suggesting: I don't think the Canucks see Horvat as an ideal second line centre in the long-term, but would love to have him as their third line centre, with someone more offensively-oriented taking over second line duties. In my opinion, look for them to try and make this happen in the not-too-distant future.
  18. Maybe he can hand the mentoring down to Virtanen by then.
  19. True story! It was a duplex and they bought it together with Gaborik's parents.
  20. I was excited too, but now I know I'm just going to be nervous anytime he throws (or absorbs) a big hit -- always waiting for the next concussion. It's going to take awhile to get comfortable with him playing physical again, both for him and for us. Here's to hoping he can actually do it.
  21. Actually, that was his third last concussion...and it was a fight in which he didn't even take any shots to the head. His sustained his second last concussion from throwing a few good hits in a game after that (without receiving any himself), and his last concussion after skating for a few shifts in a game in Utica.
  22. Who knew back in February that Mr. Rogers could see into the future.........from beyond the grave!
