  1. All of the nicknames from the 90's on really just involve putting a 'y' at the end of the player's first or last name (e.g., Millsy, Petey, Eddy, Danny, Marky, etc.). They've lost a lot of colour over time, that's for sure. I'm pretty sure these nicknames disappeared around the time the league started to clamp down on bench-clearing brawls. BTW, voting Kurtenbach and nominating Gary Smith once again.
  2. Voted Kurtenbach and nominating Gary Smith. You gotta remember that players like this actually carried the Canucks for periods of time in the early years. Some of the players being voted in now were good to very good, but would never be seen to have carried the team at any point.
  3. Yes, so in what round will the 'V for victory' get added then?
  4. Just voted Boudrias and OMG, realized that Gary Smith isn't even on any of the lists yet! Does no one else recall hearing how Jim Robson went out of his way (very uncharacteristically) to tout Smith as league MVP back in the mid-70's? I nominate Gary Smith!
  5. Voted Jovo Cop. Nominating....."Greg Adams!!, Greg Adams!!"
  6. Voted Lumme. Just gave him the lead. Hope it holds!
  7. I don't know what the heck he said....it might have been, "Start gathering in groups and have lots of social contact", for all I know. But I do like how intensely he said it and how thick his neck looks. Those two things bode well for his future as a Canuck!
  8. Voted Tanti...great to see he's finally getting the recognition he deserves here, and nominating Sundstrom again.
  9. Yeah, I definitely think that he will sign with one of the bottom-dwelling NHL teams next season, hoping to crack their line-up.
  10. I didn't vote for Snepsts yet, but I loved him as a Canuck. That's the main change I would have made to Ian MacIntyre's all-time Canucks lineup. I would have had Snepsts as the #6 D instead of Willie Mitchell. I think they were very similar players, but Snepsts was actually a much bigger fan favorite in Vancouver when he played and definitely a more menacing enforcer when the situation called for it. I don't think Mitchell had any skill advantage over Snepsts and I also noticed that no one seems to have nominated him for this list yet.
  11. We're going to have to let go some of our popular UFA's is we want to be resign all our young stars in the near future. There's no doubt Stecher will have to go, and very likely Tanev too. Keeping Tofolli should be a higher priority.
  12. Voting Tanti. Nominating Greg ("Gus") Adams.
  13. No, I do actually. I'm just being a bit sarcastic in response to all the people who were calling for his head not too long ago. I can't say for sure how he did in his role as director of scouting (if that was actually his title), but I know that I loved the heart and tenacity he showed as a player. The photo below from the Canucks' '82 playoff run, after Delorme avenged Grant Mulvey's dirty run at Lars Lindgren, is a classic part of Canucks history. I just wish that they would show this game as one of the Retro NHL games they're replaying now.
  14. That's right! Remember people...we still have Ron Freakin' Delorme!!
  15. Yes...it's the same feeling you can get from reading CDC'ers comments on just about any of our prospects!
  16. I think that's an insightful comment. Reading between the lines in all that was printed about Tryamkin leaving, I think that his newly-wed wife's sense of isolation in Vancouver probably had a lot to do with him wanting to return to Russia at the time. It may have even been why he didn't want to do a stint in Utica, as I'm not sure he would have been encouraged to take her along. For the public record, he came up with other reasons why he didn't want to stay in Vancouver, but if she was the real reason , obviously he wasn't going to throw her under the bus.
  17. I'd be willing to bet it was Mackey or Poolman, they would have been decent D men to roll the dice on, but now that's not happening.
  18. You mean placeholder? I haven't heard Benning mention him in a long time. Is he still even in our system?
  19. Are these all players from your Fantasy League draft?!
  20. Interesting to see how Lind and Gadjovich's developmental curves have diverged. Gadjovich isn't even in our top 10 now. When he's played this year, he's seemed to be fairly productive, but just too many games missed with what I assume were injuries.
