  1. As much as I like Motte, I didn't really notice him out there tonight. Not like Roussel in his return. But Roussel and the whole team looked overwhelmed tonight, so not an easy game for Motte to return in!
  2. I'd agree with that. We know that Madden was good without McDonough. We don't know how good McDonough would be without Madden. Time will tell.
  3. Shame on you for not playing by the rules!!
  4. And is there anybody who still hasn't guessed what his mystery "illness" in the preseason really was?
  5. a...., a..... what?? Don't leave us hanging here, Slegr! P.S. I'd suggest you stay out of your dad's stash!
  6. Haha! Did anyone else hear Brian Burke's between periods take on the Baertschi trade discussions? Something to the effect of: "The Canucks won't need to add another phone line to handle the calls." So sarcastic, but unfortunately, so true.
  7. Exactly, anyone could have had him for free if they actually wanted him. More likely it's us having to give something up to get rid of him. That's why I don't see Benning being nearly as motivated as Baer and his agent to make this trade.
  8. Sounds like what you're saying is that one thing we can look really forward to with this kid is his ability to jump out of the way of hits! p.s. I know it's not really what you're sayin'
  9. Like Hermann, not Rudolf, I trust sir?
  10. Yeah, he needs to be given the Baertschi treatment plan. Baertschi's level of play aside, the extended break seemed to work pretty well for him.
  11. Something tells me that he's better prepared to play pro hockey this year and maybe, just maybe, it wasn't all Cull keeping him from playing to his potential last year.
  12. Are both Edler and Stetcher out? Is going to actually get to play?
  13. So you mean he quit KeppenWolf and returned to score his 10th goal now??
  14. Oh, and Karel Plasek (sp.?) with the Czech team too.
  15. Utunen with Finland, Hoglander with Sweden and Podkolzin with Russia, I believe. Haven't heard yet if any of our prospects made the American team.
  16. I agree. Not wise to put a limit on his potential before he's had a chance to come back and develop into his prime. As you say, depending on how things go for him and who he's paired with, he has the raw skills to go a long way!
  17. He's definitely got the raw skills to become a 2nd pair D, or better, but whether he can actually solidify and further develop those skills in the NHL, that's what we don't know yet. It's something that I'm really looking forward to finding out though!
  18. I would agree. And if they can stock up on a few more C prospects in the later rounds, they way the did with wingers this year, that would be awesome!
  19. Basically everyone one of our D in Utica could be brought up (and almost have been) as an injury fill-in if needed. And there are even better young D on the way to take their place. Right now what we're seeing is that we had Gaudette and Graovac as our C depth in Utica, and that was it! Madden's coming, and hopefully one (maybe two) of Karlsson or Focht, but that's it in terms of future C depth as well. There's no question that centre is a position where we need to add some young prospects. Unlike some of our fellow posters here, the depth charts don't lie!
  20. Sorry, I said our greatest prospect weakness is at centre and we need to prioritize adding at that position (particularly through the draft), not at D. I see your facepalm and raise you one!!
  21. It think it was worthwhile to trade Burrows for a young prospect, but seeing how he looked last night, I'd be all for signing him as a free agent now and adding him for our playoff run! Wouldn't it be great to see him playing on a line with Roussel?
  22. I got roasted a few days ago over on the Tyler Madden thread for suggesting that the Canucks need more prospect depth at centre. Some seem to feel that because we have a few good young centres on the NHL roster now, we don't need to add anymore in the forseeable future. As far as I'm concerned centre is a very important position, you can never have enough good young ones, and we're seeing right now why you always have to have a few more waiting in the wings.
  23. Yeah. He's the kind of hard working, but skilled player I'd really like to see get a chance.
