Everyone says he’s been given a shot playing along side McDavid. I agree. But maybe just maybe mcdavid doesn’t work with lucic because of the speed difference. McDavid is lightning. And we know lucic isn’t. Maybe by playing with pettersson who’s more crafty than speedy will actually compliment what lucic brings to the table. Just a thought

The more I read about Soderstrom, the more impressed I am. Right handed,right side defensemen,who skates extremely well, thinks the game well and is already playing against men is so enticing.

I first and foremost agree you cannot trade boeser unless you can get a somewhat similar player in return. I mentioned William nylander before he went and got a bunch of points for Sweden at the worlds. If we can get nylander who Toronto might be willing to let go to shed salary I say go for it. Nylander can play wing with pettersson, and we can trade boeser for a top 5 pick. Yes nylander is somewhat overpaid. But I might consider a tanev + virtanen + fourth or something like that for nylander. Then trade boeser for a #3-5 overall pick. We help toronto by shedding a high salary for help on the backend and a good skater with some physicality in virtanen. We get nylander who is not as good as boeser. But still a very good young player with upside still who can play with his countryman. We can keep boeser as well. But I’m just thinking if we have to give someone up to get another early first round pick without giving up our tenth. This trade scenario netsvus two top ten picks for our draft in Vancouver, where I think Benning will want to make a splash. this might not be the way to go. But we as an organization, have to start to make trades that may make Benning sweat a bit. All we’ve done so far is the little trades that are basically neutral.

Do you think there’s a lot more value if we trade our 2020 1st and leave it unprotected. If so, maybe we can keep our first this year, and offer a 2020 1st unprotected instead. Maybe this way we can keep our tenth and get another 1st. Just a thought

And if I had the two picks in the top ten. I would draft two forwards and draft a defencemen with the 40th. This way we might be well on our way with the forwards. Just my opinion

I would love to get Edmonton’s 8th. I just don’t know how we can accomplish this without taking on lucic. If there’s a buyout. Great. If not we might screw ourselves if we also have eriksson as well. If we can trade eriksson then I’m all for going after lucic. I don’t think however, Edmonton ,would give up the draft pick simply for taking on lucic contract. I would imagine something like Hutton and leivo might get it done. Hutton and leivo for lucic and the 8th

I might get roasted. But we need to make a splash. I’d try to get nylander from Toronto for virtanen and Hutton(if we need to give a draft pick to even it, I’d consider a fourth the most). Nylander can be used with pettersson which makes boeser expendable(even though we need him still. Boeser, stetcher our 10 overall and one of madden or gaudette for the number 1 pick. We lose: virtanen,Hutton,boeser,10th overall, madden or gaudette , stetcher and a fourth get: nylander and 1 overall.

I still think it’s too early to trade one of demko or markstrom. As fantastic as markstrom played this year. It’s still only one season. If he goes back to the goalie from previous years, we would be needing demko. (Ps. I do think markstrom is legit. But we still must be careful).
