Bo, Petey, Miller, Hughes, Ferland, Myers.

  2. once brock and goldie are signed, 3 players have to be moved or sent down, and another one when roussel comes back. schalier and who else?

Schaller and Erickson, Biega prior to season. Rousell wont be back before December. By that point we'll know who's being shipped out/traded

  3. I've been convinced Hoglander will be one of the first few players from the draft to make the NHL. I'm thinking after 1 more year in the SHL he will be ready.

@Jaku @48MPHSlapShot I agree with 48. Most (including me at times) have a tendency to over rate prospects and the speed upon which they make it into the NHL, because we're excited. One only has to go back to past draft pages, the start of prospect threads to see how every prospect we drafted in the top 3 rounds was going to be an impact player right away or his D+1 year. It seldom happens, the NHL is a hard league to crack, don't forget that. I'm not saying either way how long it will take him, or if he even makes it, only to temper expectations. When people get so pumped, it often leads to people then piling on a player when he doesn't meet those unrealistic expectations / takes time to develop (like most players actually do!). ie See JV, OJ, even some grumbling started about Demko last year before he was called up. Take a look at the Lind and Gadjovich threads, they were going to come in and dominate! They are 2 years away at least still. I think as 48 said, lets see how he performs in the SHL, hope he does well, and just be patient! If he's the real deal, it will show in time.

  4. Ben Hutton at number 3 in TSN's UFA list ahead of guys like Ferland and Dzingel!

      @King Heffy

As much as I'm not a fan of Gardiner, Hutton isn't better

  6. Assuming Brock signs for $7M and we have the Lu recapture penalty and we pay $4-5M for the RFAs, how much more money do the Canucks have for UFAs?

Basically fine for this year, but a good idea to move out Erickson, Sutter by next year for room for Petey and keep our flexibilty. We have LOTS of cap space if those two are gone, even with Lou's recapture . Spooner and Schaller's cap come off next year as well. We're fine

I just want the leafs to get screwed. I want someone to offer Marner 12 mil and they have to match, lol. There's no way they're letting him walk irrespective of the compensation

@J-23 I'm really looking forward to seeing Rathbone, he's a player many have forgotten about

but i think is going to be very good player for us. We apparently just drafted one of his childhood friends and he was really excited about it, seems he's going to sign with us too!

I love this kid already. This is why JB drafts character. This kid wants to be a Canuck, how can you not just want him to make it even more now?

Calder, and all trophies are voted on at the end of the season to avoid the influence of playoffs on voting. And of course they are regular season trophies, alot of fans don't understand this. If they're up in arms, they should be arguing he deserved the Conn Smythe, as good as O'Reilly was, Binnington was the reason they won that cup

  13. It's amazing watching every network pimp out Zaitsev on behalf of the Laughs. If they wanted to talk about Van rumors, they could be bringing up how we're interested in Zucker, or how we've inquired about a Dman from Buffalo, or even Panarin's apparent interest in coming here. But nope, Zaitsev, Zaitsev, Zaitsev,

It's almost as though they have a vested interest in the Laughs moving him here <_<

  15. With the prices paid so far for pending UFAs, I'm hoping Benning doesn't sign any big-ticket guys this year.  Tanev at 50% retained must be looking awfully good to contenders.

    1. 18W-40C-6W

      18W-40C-6W

I have no issue with going after Panarin, he's worth every penny. Great regular season AND playoff performer, nothing wrong with paying a star, star money. What you don't want to do is pay a 'good /decent player' star money. For example,  I like Meyers as he is a solid dman with size. He's no star, he's a younger Edler with better hands. But he shouldn't be getting 8-9 mil. Given cap inflation if we can get him at 7 I do it, sign Edler, try to go at Panarin, and move Tanev at the draft if Edler is signed, else at the next deadline.

  16. Jumbo Joe Thornton coming back for at least one more year, says he will come back according to Sportsnet

    1. 18W-40C-6W

      18W-40C-6W

@Roberts Actually, first time in a long time I've heard Sportsnet (or TSN) not toot the leafs horn with Freidman a day ago talking about Marner. He was saying there is some emotion entering the discussions and sort of paused when asked if there was some conflict - seems Dumbass may be pissing off marner, and Freidman says he expects Marner to wait to see if teams will quote "force the leaf's hand" - aka offer sheet! He was actually quite unbiased and not painting the rosy picture baby GM likes to paint.

  17. SN 650 reporting Edler willing to waive for expansion. Does that change your willingness to 3 years from 2?

    1. 18W-40C-6W

      18W-40C-6W

@Alflives do both.  We are stronger with Eddy no doubt. He's been a warrior, he's clearly come around. You work with him now. He is still very valuable to this team, the stats prove it out. No use playing games with him. 3 years, 7mil 7 mil 5.5 mil (aav 6.5), write in a 1 team Limited NTC with Seattle and done

@roberts  - I was suspended for responding to trolls of OJ with articles, stats and facts. Apparently providing such information that shows the trolls have no clue, is not welcome

      18W-40C-6W

@Twilight Sparkle they didn't choke, it was an even game and to be fair they outplayed the warriors again and really could have won all 5 games. Game 2 they have away, this game, the Warriors just kept hitting 3's. They won't win the series that way, it was absurd how many they were hitting. Its the raps series. If they lose in 7 I'll call it a choke, but there was some awful calls / non calls too that would have made the difference for the raps.

@Coconuts Agreed, he has been a very clean player for his career, and other than the Pacioretti hit has never been dirty. I didn't even think that hit was dirty, it was just like Tryamkin, just so big that his finish of a player created a bad outcome. Since that hit he has also been very very clean. Even when he knows he can kill a guy he holds off, ie Kadri 2 years running from his cheap shots in the playoffs. Both times big Z was the first one there and could have ragdolled Kadri and didn't. Off the ice he is apparently a very nice person and a major philanthopist. I have alot of respect for the guy in the way he competes, leads and as  a human being. Hate to see anyone hurt but I also don't want Boston to win so this may help St Louis! Now Marchand on the other hand is a 'b-tch' who I wouldn't shed a tear for in any injury given how cheap he is!

  23. Trade?..according to Sean Avery:"Alright Leafs Nation,” Avery said via Instagram story. “Breaking news. Per my sources in Toronto, Nazem Kadri has been traded for Jacob Trouba. That is confirmed. I’m telling you first, per my sources in Toronto."

    1. 18W-40C-6W

      18W-40C-6W

It would actually make sense but it would also mean Toronto has alot MORE cap moving to do and will be held over a barrel by rival gms.

  24. Hmm do the Canucks persue zaitsev? In light of the leafs looking to trade, retain salary for a conditional late round pick?

    1. 18W-40C-6W

      18W-40C-6W

@RetroCanuck why not just offersheet Kapanen, and give up a first and third. You keep tanev and are able to trade him for alot more should he stay healthy (which if we JB gets some help this year, he should with less playing time), and then able to move him hopefully to get a first back, mid to late. In the end we don't take on the crap contract of a wishy washy dman, we keep tanev and pay a third and salary for Kapanen.
