  1. Why give up a 5th round pick just to find out? We have oodles of cap space, we'll know quite quickly how serious he is. You don't just throw away assets because you're curious. Guadette was a 5th rounder, Rathbone was a 4th rounder, Forsling who's in the NHL now was a 5th rounder, Hansen was a 9th rounder (when there were 9 rounds). Given our scouting team now, that 4th or 5th rounder it would cost could end up being a NHL player. I wouldn't trade Gaudette for that, would you?
  2. You’re comparing Gardiner to a hockey hall of famer and Doughty and Burns who will end up there? oooh kay!
  3. hahahahha nice answer bro love the tall tales - you make up a story to support your own argument - that works with your mommy for lollipops kid, not adults happy story telling highlighted text = aka "I have no proof and so I'll deflect and suggest providing actual facts to support my argument is your issue not mine"
  4. Where have they hinted at 'wanting to sign' here? Panarin liked a tweet and can be yanking chains, I am not assuming anthing YOU are. that's what's false. SHow me a quote from both players saying they WANT to sign in Vancouver vs ya I'd consider it, every player says that and EK certainly hasn't said a peep, and Panarin simply didn't say no. Not saying no, doesn't mean they want to guy. If I want to drive up my salary I want as many teams bidding as I can get, and as many teams as possible THINKING they can sign me, so I can get top dollar from the team I want to go to. That's simply smart negotiation tactics. You need to think about who's making false assumptions, its not me
  5. I'd argue their 'desire to come to vancouver' is more agent driven to get Aquaman excited to bid up their price, if I were an agent I'd do it. And if they want to come here, then why give up the pick? You've defeated your own argument. They'll get paid wherever they go. There's no advantage
  6. Gardiner gets heavily weighted offensive zone starts for a reason https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/g/gardija01-advanced.html He's on a team that scores alot of goals, plus minus isn't a great test, nor are puck possession stats, because you give the puck to Marner and Matthews its generally going to end up with a shot on the opposing net. He's a tire fire guy, there's a reason Toronto fans want to get rid of him If you look at his only year where his Defensive starts > Offensive starts, his advanced stats are not very good. He's sheltered on a high scoring offensive team dude. You may also want to look at his giveaways vs takeaways - his entire career he's been a giveaway machine, materially giving the puck up more than taking it away. You think fans crucified pizza and guddy? wait and watch this guy
  7. It really only makes sense if you think you have a legitimate shot at signing a player (aka a coach or gm relationship with said player). The guys you named will get whatever dollar and term they want, so they are going to sign somewhere they wanted to go anyways. It's a waste of picks if you're just trying to convince a player to sign here. EK and AP are signing wherever they want, and they likely already know where that is for personal, and hockey reasons. I'd bet that's not Vancouver
  8. I agree, and he still has wheels. With Petey he could have a good year playing on #40's wing and maybe gets us another pick at the deadline Marleau Petey Boeser would actually be a pretty nice line imho
  9. I like your thinking, and agree with all, but it would take alot more to get Trouba - and that's assuming he agrees to an extension prior. No way do we give up Hutton and our first for a rental when we're not even a legit playoff contender yet. Apparently he wants to play in the USA, so not sure getting him works, and if he agrees, he would cost more than that, and I'm not sure its worth it.
  10. I live in Toronto, and watch the leafs alot. Gardiner is a tire fire in his own end. Excellent point producer but Marky is going to be throwing his stick at him. Hard Pass. I am a fan of Myers, he's RD, big, and pretty mobile. He's not a number one but he will take alot of pressure of Tanev and is better than a bottom pair Dman. The only reason he's bottom pair in the Peg is because Buff and Trouba are ahead of him, arguably two #1 dmen in their own right. He'd solidify our second paring, play him with Hughes, and we've got some depth finally. Neither player solves both our issues, lack of strong dmen and offensive dmen, but Myers is a better DMAN than Gardiner will ever be and is a decent point producer and can jump into the offense. He's only 29, a 6 year deal isn't that bad, and a player like him will be needed for the next run, he'll be a vet and will stabilize as Edler has for many years.
  11. He's not a poor skater just average. The problem is, players of his size really need to be 'elite' skaters to have their skills translate. Those who have been saying its not a big issues (no pun intended), name one player who's been tiny in the NHL who's an average skater and have been impactful? I can't think of one, we don't need another Jordan Schroeder. So many comparing him to Debrincat, but the latter is an elite skater playing with Patrick Kane. And as you've mentioned the issues that will arise in his game because of his size, are not helpful for us in the playoffs, this kid ain't mitch marner
  12. Liljegren is bordering on bust. Canucks fans over rate him, Jesus Jordan Subban had more points than him with the Marlies if we want their best young dman it’s Sandin
  13. Up and down, but 17 of his 20 goals were even strength and 22 of his 24 assists were even strength. One pp goal and 2 shorties. pretty damn good https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/k/kapanka01.html
  14. Nope, a lot of his goals came from the third line bud. I live in to and watched a lot of the games. He’s no Pastrnak, he’s not going to get you 40 goals but he plays like Burrows with speed (without the chirpyness). He’s hard on pucks, has a high hockey IQ, plays 200 ft and competes hard every night. The guy you’re describing is Little Willie. He’s a perimeter, soft player who’s the beneficiary of playing with talent.
  15. Agreed, many teams in the east would cheer an offer sheet as they don’t want Toronto to keep all that young talent. Because of Toronto’s competitive dynamic, and as you said the salary inflation they are causing, I do think there’s less risk of being ostracized in the league than their used to be.
  16. He won’t get 8 now without term. I’d say around 6-6.5 short term but his agent will be asking 9ish. Canucks won’t pay that money for a short term deal. He’s scored 55 pts not 80+ My guess is if it’s a bridge is Bo numbers plus a little extra. If it’s 7 yrs then it’s 7.5 ish.
  17. True but McDavid makes sense, and while Draisaittl looked like a “rich deal” at the time, he scored 50 goals this year and 105 pts. It’s actually cheap now if he continues that type of production! I think there’s a list of middling guys who got well overpaid that started this, Nylander is just another example.
  18. His -50 isn’t reflective of his game, nor are his lower point totals than many of his peers. From most reports, his team was a major cause of his ok but not great offensive numbers, and they were out scored by 150 goals. That -50 is more reflective of always being on the ice trying to help a god awful team. Apparently, there was little if any talent on that team and they got lit up a lot. What is interesting is, his 72% primary points beats out most if not all of the top ten, and he was in on 40% of his teams goals. That beats out many in the top ten again. It means yes he was on the ice a lot, but he also is a play driver, we need that skill. good read here. I’d be very happy w Krebs at 10. I’d be ecstatic if we could swing Colorado’s second First rounder or FLA and get both he and Seider. https://www.milehighhockey.com/2019/5/17/18616661/2019-nhl-draft-prospect-profile-peyton-krebs-scouting-report
  19. The coach in St. Louis has shown with his ice time, in the Regular season, playoffs and historically that he is a #3. his place is behind Peiterangelo- these are facts sorry you can’t accept that factual reality I’ve show you the data, I’ve shown you the depth chart. I’m not sure how you think that should be ignored over your opinion but good for you
  20. He’s going to go a lot earlier than the rankings suggest. 84 scouts? Lol that means teams sent teams of scouts to watch him
  21. Parayko would never go before Hughes or Kakko! Lol endless - I thought I’m blocked? Parayko is a 3/4 according to his coach who knows a lot more than anyone on canucks social media - and that means you and I. And hes he’s not leading his team for the last time. He’s leading his team for 2 road games. Peiterangelo is leading his team for defenseman for the season and the playoffs overall. cherry picking data is not a way to support an argument effectively thanks
  22. the basis of his argument is Parayko is a better dman because of 2 games where the home coach can pick his matchups? Really? 2 games? Vs a career and the entire playoffs?
  23. So Parayko is a better defenseman because of road matchups in the first two games of the finals? Playoff ice time over all means less than 2 games where the home coach can match his lines?
  24. I posted the wrong one -go look at the most recent post buddy, guess what - I’M RIGHT here it is again
