  1. Sure but you can't take the verbatim - based on that if we give up #10 and #40 we can move up to pretty much 4th overall. I don't think Colorado does that. If they do and Byram is there, I'd do it
  2. Hornquist is 32 years old, and has 4 years remaining on his contract at 5.3 mil - not a good idea
  3. I actually think we should offer sheet Kapanen. Leafs are going to be in Cap hell post Marner, Kapanen brings alot more than Nylander ever will, think a faster version with Hansen with actual hands. If we offer between $4,227,438-$6,341,152: we give up a 1st and 3rd , Kapanen is worth this to us. Young, RW, size, incredible speed, plays a hard 2 way game and competes. He and Jonsson scored 20 this year, leafs will try to low ball both, if someone offer sheets, they won't be able to match, as Marner's agent is going to expect Matthews money and rightly so. That Nylander contract is a major problem for them. We should offer 7 years x 6 mil (a bit of an overpayment) but he'll be such a valuable add to our top six, Would be able to play with Bo or Petey, Kill penalties (scores alot of shorties), and the PP. Virtanen Petey Kapanen Baer Bo Brock
  4. Nylander is softer than baby powder bro. I live in Toronto, see most leaf games on TV, he's a great reg season player because he's talented and has room, and plays on the permiter with Auston Matthews up the middle. He disappears in the playoffs, doesn't compete hard for pucks, go to the dirty areas, and is just an all around lazy floater. He's not a guy you win with nor a guy you tie up 8 mil in. Reg season points mean Jack if you disappear when it gets hard. Hard pass on pretty boy Willie
  5. Which means he's probably wants Seider and doesn't want to tip anyone off. lol
  6. irony One question, is the fart dry, silent, oily, or wet?
  7. Funny thing about Jake's point totals - they've gone up 5-6 points every year. Based on that, I expect 31 pts next year as a baseline. If he gets to 35 and even or positive plus minus that's a good year, another good step. He was only -4 last year playing in primarily a defensive 3rd line role. He's going to be a gem, they're bringing him along right. I remember at the year end presser, when asked if anyone had received calls for Team Canada, he had a self deprecating laugh and said 'ya right' under his breath -that suggested he wasn't happy with his season, that's a good thing..he's going to come back more motivated and will hit 31+ imho

With that trend, imagine the 2083-84 season!

So you're saying that in 2 years if Jake is getting 40pts, playing physical, good two way hockey, and likely making an impact in playoff hockey because of that style, that's not a great pick over the invisible men Ehlers and Nylander? Jake was never going to out score those guys, he had different tools. I'd be more than happy with a 6th pick being a 40 pt player and bringing physicality.

    3. coastal.view

      coastal.view

well he did get most of his points this past season in the first half

well actually even earlier in the season

and was much less productive as the season went on

so i'm not sure where you get the idea that he really is still improving steadily

i think he needs yet another season to prove where he actually is at

he is unable to play a top 6 role

every time that is tried it is clear he is not ready

he has an amazing tool box though

maybe more patience is still required

  8. They will generally want to the take whomever they feel is the best player, regardless of position. Why? Because it increases your overall talent level in your franchise. If there's a LD available and he's arguably still better than the next RD, even though we have a plethora of LD, we certainly don't have the type of depth where you can assume players we have will reach their ceilings (and I am a big fan of both QH and OJ). The more talent you have, the more depth you have to move players to improve other positions if need be. In a best case scenario, maybe we take a LD and he and QH and OJ all show top pairing potential, well now you have a highly valuable asset you can move for a RD or a winger etc. Most teams always go this route unless they are so desperate they need to fill a void (aka montreal with Kotkaniemi last year, but even then many said he was better than his ranking suggested, and clearly he was chosen in the right spot, so even he was the BPA)
  9. His comment was ' I dont think we should take him (Broberg) because I have 3-4 guys ahead of him' . Clearly, if this person thinks we should not take someone based on HIS list, well he's overestimating his knowledge and skill. Perhaps saying I'd prefer these guys because I just like them better vs what he said.
  10. Based on what? Youtube and articles vs watching the players for a living and seeing them over and over and over live? Please bro, your list is not more valuable than that of the pros who do this for a living
  11. The usage of Benning "apologists' is a tell of where he came from, indeed. Just waiting for him to say "benning bro" - that's another one of their terms. I can't for the life of me understand why some are apparently fans and yet are always 'angry' at the team. Its a game, you'd think if it makes you that angry you should choose to cheer for another team that makes you happy!
  12. I’ve heard many talking of Thompson as being a good second rounder. If he’s a good skater, mobile and can move the puck from the right side would be a smart pick depending on who else is available. From april so a relatively recent writeup here https://www.habseyesontheprize.com/nhl-entry-draft-picks-2019/2019/4/23/18317116/lassi-thomson-2019-nhl-draft-prospect-profile-video-highlights-stats-scouting-report-analysis
  13. BPA you take him and run. The Russian factor is overblown and comes down to the individual, so interviews will confirm. Perhaps he’s “playing it” to choose where he wants to go lol! Irrespective of that you have to take the BPA and he is. Many teams want a player sooner, if we can wait the 2 years which we can we should grab him. Button is close to many in the league so he likely has good insight into most teams thoughts on players and needs. I doubt he falls to ten however.
  14. We also have Rathbone who plays the left side and looks promising and who is only 6’0. I like York but I don’t think He sets himself apart enough as a BPA for us not to look at taking Seider or another RD, or the best forward available. While the Canucks aren’t going to pick for position, my guess is LD is actually a negative unless the player is so much better than the others that can’t say no, ie in some crazy way Bryam falls to us, which he won’t.
  15. Indeed many would. I live in Toronto and Nylander is not as well regarded anymore. Not only for his permiter play but because Dubas capitulated and gave him that awful contract which is now an albatross for them and causing cap hell. If Nylander had not whined/sat out, then performed, leaf fans would have less concern as he would be an easily traded asset. However, his baggage/ perception of bad attitude+playoff performances are now going to cause Dubas to take a big loss to open enough cap space to both sign marner and fill out his team. I bet they'd love a physical, fast, big winger who still has alot of upside and plays 2 ways for 1.25 mil vs 8 mil for pity points playing with Matthews and the playoff houdini act.
  16. His level of hockey knowledge suggests he's never played the game other than 'e-sports'
  17. Agree they'd want that level of quality back. Given the player is not 'generational' though, that deal would make them think. Boeser is a potential 40 goal player, already been an allstar and was up for the calder, in a redraft he's top 5. That being said, we're better off with boeser and who we pick (assuming he becomes a NHL player and we draft well) vs 1 player. For all we know, we pick Seider and he becomes the big #1RD we've needed for decades, that's worth more to us than one star replacing another and losing the pick Don't forget, Boeser has PROVEN he can be an all star in the NHL, people get a bit too hyped on the new kid in the draft. As good as Kakko looks and likely will be, there is still always risk until they show they can play in the league and be consistent. Players like Alexandre Daigle, Patrik Stefan, and many others have not lived up to their 'rankings' . A sure thing vs a lottery ticket, as good as it looks is always a risk you need to think long and deep about.
  18. Thanks for posting. Seider is the guy I would love to see the Nucks take if they think he's as good as this article suggests. I have been intrigued with him for a while and think he may be one of those players facing the usual "euro discount' at the draft. If the Nucks use #10 to take him, it means he's a steal, because its a slight reach on all the rankings. To me that would be a very bullish sign on him. Alteratively, I would love to see us somehow snag Florida's #13 or Colorado's #16 and grab him there but I doubt he falls all the way to 16 in all honesty.
  19. I really don’t think FLA is going to tie up close to $15 mil on goalies for 3 more years Dude. That’s not going to help their team win. If they sign Bobrovski, and Lou is healthy they will move him. You can’t afford that in a cap world if the goal of their team Is to compete
  20. Florida will be hit with cap penalties if he retires. The “way around” that is if a player fails his physical. It’s known he’s having knee and hip issues. It’s very plausible he fails his physical. So much so many have talked about it in the media. A physical for you and me is not the same for a NHL goalie. Their bodies are tested to see if they can also manage to “play the game” not just a butt finger probe and blood tests guy. Smh https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/roberto-luongos-playing-future-looking-uncertain/
  21. No to any Dmen from Edmonton not Named Nurse or Larsson. They have too much suckage melted into their synapses
  22. see my last post again, its very doable cap wise, I made a roster on cap friendly. You disagree with my premise of why FLA would do it, ok, but cap is not the issue - see my edit
  23. They have 22 mil in cap space and could afford all three, if we retain some and maybe take a contract back they can afford Bobrovski as well. And if Bob is signed, that means Lu's 4.3 is off the cap due to failing his physical They can make it work if they call up a young player like Tippet and we retain 2.79 mil (plus they could trade Reimer and get a cheaper backup) FORWARDS (12) Right wing: Mike Hoffman ($5,187,500) - Evgeni Dadonov ($4,000,000) - Colton Sceviour ($1,200,000) - Owen Tippett ($863,333) Centre: Aleksander Barkov ($5,900,000) - Vincent Trocheck ($4,750,000) - Brandon Sutter ($4,375,000) - Henrik Borgström ($925,000) Left wing: Jonathan Huberdeau ($5,900,000) - Artemi Panarin ($9,350,000) - Frank Vatrano ($2,533,333) - Garnet Hathaway ($1,350,000) DEFENSE (6) Right: Aaron Ekblad ($7,500,000) - Christopher Tanev ($4,450,000) - Mark Pysyk ($2,733,333) Left: Keith Yandle ($6,350,000) - Michael Matheson ($4,875,000) - Joshua Brown ($675,000) GOALTENDER (2) Sergei Bobrovsky ($8,850,000) - James Reimer ($3,400,000) RETAINED SALARY TRANSACTIONS (1) Jason Demers ($562,500) DETAILS Roster Size: 20 Salary Cap: $83,000,000 Cap Hit: $85,729,999 Cap Space: -$2,729,999
  24. I don’t think you really read my post. You’re missing the point about “life cycle”. We are at a very different stage than Florida. We are in a rebuild, they are in an urgent need to win now, and lack the experienced depth required to do so. We don’t make that deal because we’re rebuilding, Florida looks at that deal because it helps solve some of their major issues. That’s why they are good trading partners. You really need to read a post before you comment on it
