  1. Dude he’s not a 19 year old rookie that needs coddling. He has shown he doesn’t have the drive to compete. That’s all one needs to see to suggest he doesn’t belong here anymore
  2. See the irony? To some I'm giving away scraps, to you its quality....I say they are players we can afford to give up given our depth now. Certainly in March if Try signs and Gaudette show's he's ready which he should
  3. He's everything we wanted out of Byram, people don't even realize
  4. Hughes, Benn, and Tryamkin (if he's back in March) can all play the right side. While we are better with Tanev, given he's a ufa and if he's playing well, it will be time to cut bait and maximize his value for the first time in 4+ years.
  5. 1. your list of centers are fantastic, how many can line up against 6'2 210 lb men and take away heavy minutes? Do you want Hughes or Hirshier lining up against crosby and malkin, Tavares and Matthews and having to play defensive shut down minutes???????? Ya this isn't NHL 19 bro, its not about who has the 'highest rating' who wins, there's actually a method to constructing a team. I explained Zacha, and all the other names who??? 2. Teams were calling for Sutter two deadline's ago. He was injured most of last year including at the deadline, this was explained to you. And who said SOOO valuable? There's three pieces that add value to their depth for the playoffs. Teams need a mix of youth and veteran leadership - again not NHL 19 3. I love how you ignore my points and make up new ones that don't address my points, this is called deflection. I explained why Tanev vs Gardiner is a red herring argument lol. Go re read my post - you clearly don't comprehend the points I made. Tanev's value has never been about points! LOL omg No arrogance, I just know what I am talking about, clearly some get their knowledge here from video games. Btw 10k+ posts less than 50% Have been liked - I think the community is telling me something about your history here. Over to the block list you go, I know where this is going with your type.
  6. They're going to have to make a trade to fill out their lineup. My guess is they will have to overpay Laine, but will trade him if someone will overpay for him with talented youth/picks and lower contracts. Their D is hurting with the loss of Trouba and Meyers, and they would be the perfect partner to give us a first for Tanev (they are decimated on RD) if they had cap room but with 16 players signed and 19 mil in space, and Connor and Laine to sign, there isn't room. Perhaps Ehlers will be moved to keep them both and free up cap room
  7. I meant Greene, who is a LD and their captain, clearly a typo. SMH wow just WOW Maybe check my grammar while you're at it too bro. I'm sure you can find a small error to deflect from the fact that my response just shut his ridiculous response down. I think I may have misused a comma, had a run on sentence, and maybe missed a period. All of these clearly will defeat my POINT right? drrr
  8. Russian teams are broke so if they know they will lose him, they'd probably be happy to take the break fee to let him loose before our season. If that happens wow!
  9. I don't think Stecher gets enough credit around here. He is a terrific young dman, who has only thrived with more ice time both offensively and defensively. I think given his NHL experience hes better suited (and has paired well) to stick with Edler. You then have Hughes Myers as your second pair and Try on the bottom as he needs to get acclimatized to the NHL again.
  10. Changed the title to Canucks and Devils to make sure there's no confusion lol
  11. Since you know what the devils will do, what is their Gm's number? You speak in absolutism like your OPINION is fact.... absurd nonsense 1. Jack hughes weights 165 lbs wet. If you think he's ready to play center in the NHL at 5'10 and 18 years old you're not very knowledge about hockey let alone man strength. 2. You clearly think Sutter is valueless, alot of teams would hold different opinions as we know from attempts to acquire him at past deadlines (excluding last year given he was hurt). Your opinion that he woudn't even make NJ is absurd. 3. Zacha is a first round pick who needs a chance to play in an offensive role (ie move him to the wing). He's not a shut down center, Sutter is better suited in that role. Zacha was sent to the minors for the AHL Playoffs this year, so not sure what you're talking about NJ being so great at center. You don't get sent down for AHL playoffs if you've cemented your position in the NHL, Zajac is 36 years old. 4. Tanev and Gardiner are very different players, this tells me you don't have much knowledge of the game. Tanev is a shut down Right DMAN on a good contract that expires this season. Gardiner is an offensive LEFT dman who is a tire fire in his own end. NJ has problems defensively. Gardiner will want term and alot more than Tanev gets paid. Gardiner does not address their problems and they have many puck movers (RD Subban, RD Severson, LD Vatanen, LD Butcher). You don't add in another LD when their LD includes their captain Greene +Vatanen and Butcher, especially if you're going to have to pay that guy 6 mil minimum plus term. Thinking about the actual proposal actually matters before you give an opinion, else you may not look very smart. After considering your response, it appears you need to learn about the game a great deal more.
  12. As I was looking at cap levels around the league, and was thinking about teams that could use some of our vets, NJ seemed to be a reasonable trading partner. 1. They are looking to now leverage a few good drafts in a row (Hirschier, Hughes) and young adds like Will Butcher to make the playoffs. 2. They've added Subban for that reason 3. They want to keep Hall and need to show him they are serious about winning now as he's not getting any younger and he wants to compete for a cup, and has stated as such. Therefore, players like Tanev and Sutter could have greater value to them as they look to strengthen their depth in order to compete in the playoffs. They've got 18 players signed with 18 mil in cap space, so there is certainly room, The question is what's the value proposition for both sides for it to make sense. On RD, they have Subban, Severson, Carrick, at center they have Hirschier, Hughes, Zajac, and Zacha. Hughes likely isn't ready to start at C and irrespective of that, any of those skilled centers could work on the wing, and Zacha is better moving up as a winger than handling 3/4c. To me, the depth this trade gives Jersey is very appealing, the issue is cost and what comes back. I would love Severson but no chance, he's young, a right D, good size and has been putting up 30-40 pts last 3 years and is only 24, no chance NJ gives him up. We get cap space and likely want some youth back. The cap space is a big advantage so we can't discount that. My thoughts are Sutter, Tanev, Goldobin (as a sweetener) for Michael Mcleod (good prospect but they have no room for him) and a conditional 2nd (that turns into a first if the Devils make the playoffs (or alternatively on a combined games played by Sutter and Tanev (non injuries) of 100 games). And maybe we take back Carrick to give NJ some added cap room. The devils RD depth would be incredible with Subban/Severson/Tanev - and both Tanev or Sutter could arguably fetch a first at the deadline (if they wanted to move one) if they stay healthy. LD they have Green, Vatanen, Butcher. Arguably NJ would have one of the most mobile and deep D corps in the NHL. That D corps alone gets you into the playoffs. At center now they would have Hirschier, Zajac, Sutter, Zacha and can play Hughes on the wing to ease him in. Any of those guys can move to the wing should Hughes show he can handle it but Sutter as a real shut down C again bolsters their playoff chances materially. Goldy is a nice piece that offsets Mcleod, and is NHL ready depth who may fit in nicely with their young talent For us, we get our first rounder back (assuming they meet the conditions), a nice young forward prospect in Mcleod, who is a great skater, has size, a real competitor from scouting reports and is a right handed C, plus we get lots of cap space from players we don't 'need' any more. Devils make the playoffs, Hall is happy and re-signs as well.
  13. The local media reads this site, then uses the ideas to create drama. Its pretty apparent the vast majority of them have no clue how to be actual sports journalists
  14. On the coaches? How is that? By playing him with the twins who make stars out of plumbers? Even at their end they were top 6 players. Playing him with Petey? Our young calder winning superstar? Maybe the guys on TSN were just calling a spade a spade guy. As ONeill said, a coaches job is to win, you don't sit or demote guys for playing well dude. Green just had it out for him? Is that your argument? And Benning is partially to blame for Erickson's lack of desire? Whaaaaat? He gave him 42 mill reasons to have desire guy. SMH
  15. Erickson has negative value to the canucks, most are not saying he's washed up, as he can still help a team. The issue is, if you're not competing, what are you adding? So the question for any other team is, do I want to take a risk on a guy who looks disinterested? It's not just fans, when three ex NHL players (ONeill, Ferraro, Noodles) are all saying the guy wouldn't be in the NHL if it wasn't for his contract, it saying everything, its not just 'rabid vancouver fans', who yes, can be overbearing. He's not scoring He doesn't hit He's pretty good on the PK He's sour at the coach, and would be seen as a cancer now in the room He's not intense, and seems to not bring it every night If you're suggesting a team is happy to pay a guy $3 mil now (with a 6 mil cap hit, when no one is worried about hitting the cap floor), vs say a young prospect taking that 3rd/4th line ice time or a journeyman being paid $750k you're fooling yourself. He's cost himself likely a chance at ever playing in the NHL again by complaining when he's shown nothing over three years here, despite getting alot of time with twins and Petey.
  16. I'm not saying he would escape criticism, because irrespective of effort he is also paid to produce points, so its a fair shot at him. The point is, if he was being a leader, skating hard 200 ft every night, forechecking, playing like a dog on a bone (aka reinventing himself), people would say, well at least the effort and desire to compete is still there. The fact he looks like he could care less if he wins a puck battle for worry of breaking a nail, I believe pisses fans off even more. As Noodles said in that video, some nights it looks like he has his suit on under his gear. For an ex player to say that, it says everything
  17. I don't think anyone objectively could watch Erickson and say the effort has been there irrespective of aging out / the league starting to pass him by. He's not as slow as Lucic and can still move when he wants to. Do you think if he was playing with as much intensity as Beagle and Rousell, even Sutter people would be as hard on him? Sure he didn't produce offense, but be a LEADER, and lead by example as you age then. I bet if he played with the intensity of the three above he'd have put up more points as well. He plays disinterested most nights, collecting a paycheque. He hasn't re-invented himself. He was given every opportunity with the twins to succeed, then given alot of oppty with Petey and did nothing with either. If you're playing with that many world class players and can't contribute more, its about your intensity and drive.
  18. Better question is why did he take his gold medal from many years prior to the Roxy? How desperate is that? LOL
  19. Middle guy is Jeff O’Neil, played in Carolina and for the Leafs
  20. Watching Ferland is going to do wonders for his game. He will see how effective he can be even when not scoring. Ferland is streaky points wise but he doesn't take a night or shift off. Jake will learn exactly what he needs to be this year, and I suspect he begins his trajectory to what many hoped this season
  21. I’d like to see Goldy have one more camp and another 20 games so see if he’s finally “got it” he’s got a lot of skill and said the right things at the end of the season. If it’s hit home that his chances here are ending and he’s got maybe one shot left in the NHL he may come back a different player. I’m not a huge fan but I think they need to make sure they aren’t moving him when he’s finally learned, and could be a very valuable piece
