Yeah, he seems to had branded himself as a great leader (can't argue with his teams record); but it does beg the question of humility. With the pro sports context, it is all show and good on his PR department. The brand vs a real one.
-
Anyways, how would you fix there current situations based on your very extensive experience in locker rooms ?
-
Thats your experience and it still doesn't make you an expert on this issue - imo cause you don't know these players personally (or do you ?). Sure, there can be similarities but it still matters what, is the make up of each locker room cause the on ice product, is showing a divided locker room. As for Miller, I can only comment from a far; and the Canucks seems to be in agreement with you, that he needs to go (based on the rumours) - lets see how that affects the locker room ?
-
With the Canucks, he didn't seem invested and came here for the $; but based on his overall body of work, he seems to had understood the make up of the group he was the captain off and took from there - basically, he had a good repoire with his teammates and coaches. As a Canuck fan, the 94 team he lead, seems to had been a fragile group cause they obviously needed the refs to close that deal.
-
Everyone is different; and he seems to have a good repoire with.some of the teams playmakers. I guess, if the rumours are true about Miller being shopped, we will find out the ramifications of such a move ? Personally, Millers (shown) intensity & emotion (mainly, on the ice), is a much addition - imo - cause the gentleman's or passive aggressive type hockey that has been nurtured as a Canuck culture, has not won the team a cup - especially, when the douchery is amped up in the playoffs.
-
We don't know that; and what kind of leader do you win with ?
-
Haha - take the win and good job Demko

Good takes but the team had already gone through the great intangibles & mentoring players stage and hindsight, was not kind. I still argue with the cap, mentoring should come from a well constructed staff & off ice support team that understands the CURRENT rosters strengths & weaknesses. The great intangibles skills like faceoffs should be worked on like free throws in a basketball team as a requirements to play cause a team that executes the fundamentals well is atleast, a well coached & focused team. Right now, the issue is the staff and there clueless inability to coach & motivate a bunch of millionaires in playing together - imo. Coaching millionaires vs AHL players, requires a very different understanding of the difference. -
Yup; from Aquaman to the players - they are not babies, although, some MIGHT BE IMMATURE. Sure there are some annoying extremes on all fanbased but it is STILL the fans that will ultimately, helped improve the team and not the media schill. Good chance, the team looks at the forums to get a feel for where the fanbased are; and having a lectury wishy washy approach, will only foster further mediocrity - and the on ice product confirms that the team needs to look at there leadership (including the staff). Ultimately, we can whine or be enablers - this is Aquamans team and he will run it as he pleases; but the fans are, who is paying for his expensive toy.

I agree, on your take: that Dickenson should be a winger and he is a black hole as a playmaker C. It is the coaches, job to recognize the strengths & weaknesses of the roster & players; and we will just have to wait & see, if any meaningful lines will be put together by the staff. -
Imo, it is all about sending a message - more so for the next meeting (especially, in the playoffs). One of the things, I've noticed about the competitive teams are they stick up for each and it doesn't matter who; but it would be nice for Bo to send some message to his teammates (when he is on the ice) that he has there back.
-
Just my take on the locker room or captaincy, from an outsiders POV. Iam not questioning, his ability or what he offers as a player.
-
To a large degree, the media schills know this market well but they are also taking the fans for granted, on how passionate & knowledgeable it is. Imo, there are two annoying extremes that all sports fans tends to exhibit: the combative trolling and the wishful, passive aggressive, and LECTURY groupy takes. Anyways and eventhough, there are some annoyance, there are still alot of posters that offer up some well taught out & balance POV, of the team - which fosters discussion about our favorite but dysfunctionally run team.

I agree and I ve discussed that a shutdown line of Pearson with Dickenson might be good place to start; but the team needs to work there faceoffs - for any line or special teams to be effective. -
Ditto: the on ice product speaks for itself; and there is a difference between delusional & holding the team leadership accountable. Your take on Bo, I really agree on; and it shows on the ice: that this is Millers' team - imo.

Perhaps, with Bowman, it is a re tool; but let's see with there new GM. Quickly, looked at Capfriendly, outside of Kane, Toews & Jones (as major pieces), they don't really have any long term commitments. Imo, given there record they will be in tank mode and Jones contract, is just a replacement for Keith; this draft is loaded with high end talent. -

The on ice product, is sooo bad that this forum is starting to sound like an echo chamber. I am glad for the win but the obvious move is to replace the staff and just like with Gillis & Loungo: Greens two year extension, is complicating the decision. Imo, the best move is to try the roster with a different coach before any more trades. Plus, depending on the Zebras is a waste of time - especially, in the playoffs. -

So far, they are also prone to giving up SH breakaways during the PP. -

For that to happen, a coaching change has to happen.
