I get it - JB does deserved alot of blame and the Canucks record under his tenure - as of today is, subpar; just like Greens' overall record as the Canucks HC.
Given the context of the aggressive offsesson, the roster seems deeper but misused - based on the eye test. A more recent example of the affect a coaching change can do is Calgary. Calgary made the choice midway through last season (after there version of an aggressive offseason) to hire Sutter and gave him 30 games to asses the team. This offseason, they made some tweaking (Coleman being the one big commitment) and so far, they are playing together and doing well. Ofcourse, in Calgarys' case - the choice to pick Sutter and when seems to be the right move based on there play this season. As for the Canucks, when leadership (JB or Aquaman) chooses to make the move will reveal what there intention for this season will be; and secondly, who is chosen will reveal what kind of team, we will be watching moving forward.
Imo, JB had already spent alot in futures & capspace and good chance, a new GM will either be very patient which probably means more lean years to conserve futures or spend more futures for capspace to keep this window with this core open. Ultimately, JB or the new GM can only do what Aquaman is willing to accept; and based on an article from Friedmans' investigation about Lindens' departure: that Linden was doing his due diligence on how to do a proper rebuild by asking other teams of there experiences. The article, further states that a meeting took place with Aquaman chosing to go in a different direction; and I am really starting to wonder how much of the blame is on Weisbrod - a corporate rat (?). Anyways, the disastrous start to this season should be a lesson to (mainly) Aquaman, that there is no short cut on how to build a LONGTERM contender ie: an aggressive offseason doesn't guarantee anything (as one important lesson). Imo, Lindens' vision would PROBABLY had been very similar to what, Yzerman is being allowed to do in Detroit - ultimately, Aquaman chose this path and is the builder of the current leadership group. If JB is retained, his next moves will determine if he gets a well earned extension or termination; and imo, based on the deeper roster JB sees the end of his contract but the decision on Green at this point is binary.
