Probably be a .60 ppg player this year; and if the team is winning - I don't really care.

Good point - a win will mean the status qou lingers; and don't worry cause good chance, Green will insure the mediocrity continues. At this point, outside of the line blender he seems to had run out of ideas; even his ChaseOn pet project seems to had run its course. It seemed obvious from the beginning it was a Green initiative (pardon the pun) with no real back up plan cause those options had been let go for free. Imo, SJ & Philly got two free NHL players and ofcourse, the waiver rules didn't make it easy but they could had waived ChaseOn no problem and called him up when Gadj had proven his ineffectiveness. Anyways, Green is the coach and let's see how he will coach this team out of this black hole. As a fan, I am still hoping for a solid win - GCG !

Watching how the current leadership group fixes this slow start should determine there long-term employment with the club; either way it will be a well earned termination or extension.

Appreciate the explanation. I do understand your POV and I appreciate these cordial (if possible) back & forth. Personally, it would had been nice if Green would had played him more in the pre season and given hjm a legit chance in front of the fan based to perhaps quell any questions that we might have about a prospect we had only mostly heard/read about. Anyways, all the best to Gadj and have a great weekend.

I get it cause (imo) midway through last year would had been a good time to replace Green (just look at Calgary). Anyways, how JB will handle the current situation should tell Aquaman if he should be here long term and whatever happens JB will earn that termination or contract. As for Green, he should had not been extended but I can understand why JB did it and the failure to properly manage the deeper roster should make JBs' decision easier. The slow start should be showing Aquaman the metel of the leadership group and I believe he has a date in mind of when he thinks this ship to be trending in the right direction. Lets just wait & see how this will all play out cause last year with a very similar start they waited till seasons end; but I highly doubt Aquaman will waste this season for another aggressive season of roster tweaking cause the money (futures & cap space) had already been spent - unless fans are willing to accept the trading of more 1st rounders for now (?).

Personally, it was just about potential with Gadj VS ChaseOn. As you stated: ChaseOn can read plays better and that is because he has some years on Gadj. Gadj is only 23 and with the right coach & opportunity he can develope in the NHL or he can bust out - who knows, whereas, with ChaseOn his NHL career seems to be about done (?). Outside of the experience factor both seems to offer the same things with Gadj PROBABLY having more finish around the net. Anyways, Green chose ChaseOn and I wish Gadj all the best in SJ. It seems obvious you support this decision cause you took the time to do a deep dive and to make it known. Perhaps give Gadj a few years. Just wondering what is the point you want to make with this post ?

Good points and somewhat agree that the failure in the special teams can be blamed on JB cause JB at the high cost of futures & cap space had given the staff a much deeper roster; but the on ice product still suffers from the same issues, we had seen in the past: stale & predictable - and that should be on the staff cause it is there main job to recognize and mitigate any identifiable issues. As for JB, his decision to double down on Green and then giving him a re vamp roster to manage, was perhaps his of way RE EVALUATING GREEN WITH A DEEPER ROSTER to hopefully see if he is the right long term coach for this core. So far, Green has confirmed, why he has an overall record under .500. Right now, it is about leadership; and the quality of the decisions, the current staff & management team will make moving forward should tell Aquaman if they are the right people to lead this team. Ultimately, it all goes back to the ownership cause the good GM'S: Poile & Yzerman are only allowed to complete there true vision if ownership gives them the opportunity to do so ie: Yzerman, in Detroit. Illich had bought into Yzermans' vision and his patient & very methodical approach (reflects Illich full support) of rebuilding through the draft; and is giving that team a very solid foundation to work with moving forward. Also, with some luck (cause luck is what mitigates the unforeseen events) Detroit might be competitive again in the very near future; and other than prospects, Yzerman is also managing or weaponizing the cap very well.

Coaching change; while it is still early in the season to change the teams fortune.
-
Right now, a coaching change is the cheapest and most prudent move to make. Aquaman will just have to swallow the cost for the resigning of Green or we can all watch this ship go down; and (imo) Demko is the only reason why this ship is still floating.

Imo, JB bought himself some time with the drafting of the young core and re vamping of the roster in the offseason. Right now, the team needs a new coach and it has been proven that sometimes a new coach can make a ton of difference to get a club going in the right direction. My guess, the magic number if nothing changes is between 20 to 30 games.
