  1. Would be interesting to see live, Gallants' influence in there roster - hype or legit; and will it be the same system he implemented in Vegas & Fla. Looking forward to the GDT & (more so) the PGT in regards to the coaching difference. Imo, the Canucks win if Demko steals this game.
  2. The lottery rules had changed (once again) to further discouraged teams from tanking on purpose (but being the worse team based on standings will still give the team the highest chance to get the 1st OA pick). As proven, in JBs' tenure the lottery balls doesn't always go based on the percentage cause he has never drafted higher than fifth despite finishing second worse in the league during the Austin Matthews draft. If you read my comment carefully - I said, " if they POTENTIALLY win the lottery".
  3. I get and just like Buff, Ottawa and NJ (just to name a few) are a member of the ever rebuilding group of teams. Although, these will tend to compete for a year or two; then they start rebuilding again.
  4. Gallant vs Green - this might not end well ? Unless, Demko steals this one. Good chance, the Canucks comes out motivated; Gallant makes his adjustments after the first intermission and game over.
  5. Currently, both teams are sucking based on the standing. The only difference: the Yotes fans knows there team is rebuilding, whereas, the Canucks fans were sold that they will be competitive this year. Potentially, with a lottery win and alot of cap space moving forward, the Yotes MIGHT be in a more competitive position than the Canucks in a few years. Ofcourse, it will depend on the quality of decisions there management team will make.
  6. Arizona is tanking hard cause these next few drafts will have some high end talent at the top. With the capspace and a potential lottery win they are rebuilding a new core.
  7. You have to give some credit to Tippett (.56 % winning percentage in 17yrs)
  8. Unlike, Torts; it seems Green has made some useful friends locally.
  9. My theory: JB sdmitted to his past mistakes by re vamping the roster; and by giving Green a deeper roster - he can now re evaluate him, before (perhaps) moving on from him. So far, Green has not delivered.
  10. Yeah, saw them a few times and the players & coaches seems to be in the same page.
  11. Haskstall & friends, had realized the strengths of there roster and the players are buying in to what the coaches are selling.
  12. Imo, it would depend on what will be Aquamans' criteria and priorities when hiring the new GM. Would he had learned something from the Gillis and Benning era that he can use to makeup his criteria & mandate for the new GM - who knows and we will find out when he decides to move on from JB. Right now, JB bought himself time by making the roster deeper (at the high cost of futures & cap space) but coaching is why the on ice product is stale & predictable.
  13. Mostly agree, some JB haters are still quick to blame Greens' mismanagement on JB. Pretty naive, to think that JB, doesn't consult Green, the staff and his scouts about the fit of a player in GREENS' SYSTEM.
  14. Imo, Torts might be a douche (and he is not the only one) and his actions did confirmed most of the rumours but we cannot discount how the medias role in how he was represented to the public. He obviously, did make any friends in the media while he was here. Hopefully, the next HC would be more concern about the on ice product rather than how one appears to the media
  15. A different POV, is welcomed cause it creates conversations but the on ice product is still suffering from very FAMILIAR issues.
  16. Should had asked - does motivation come from the player side to play a system or is the burden on the coach to sell his system to the players.
  17. Yikes - still early in the season still a valid reason and this proves that an aggressive offseason doesn't guarantee anything. Just look at Calgary, it only started to click this year when they made a coaching change last year and gave Sutter 30 games with that roster. If Green is still here - they will fighting hard to earn those loser points cause tanking creates a losing culture.
  18. Good point, for the most part the team is healthy and instead, of the core guys growing in familiarity with the staff - there seems to be tuning him out based on the on ice product. The product we watch is an unbiased result of what goes on before a game.
  19. Yup, same staff with a different cast of characters and so far, the on ice product still suffers from VERY familiar issues.
  20. This is the downside when a team or coach is always focus on personnel fit to a system; the constant line blending further cements that Green is focus on personnel rather than making the appropriate adjsutments. When I watch other teams that are constantly competitive: the core & the coaches are already in the same page and GM will only add pieces to complement the core (ofcourse, with an input from the coach about needs)
  21. Can you name a team ? All I see for the most part are the better coached teams are constantly making adjustments based on personnel, time of the year and opponent. With the Canucks, I hardly see any adjustments - especially, in a period by period basis.
