  1. Very similar to College coaches who failed to transition to the NFL - very different dealing with a highly paid Pro Athlete that has most/all the leverage. After, a few seasons with Green it seems he has platued as an NHL coach for now but he will fake it for the paycheck.
  2. Ditto: his decision making process during critical times of a game are costing the team wins and his in game adjsutments shows a lack creativity
  3. Great points ! The excuse with this current staff seems to be players not buying in rather than them doing there job and creating a system that maximizes this roster. They seems to do a good job grinding a player down with the constant benching of the usual suspects and the tendency to shorten the bench - just to name a few noticeable trait of current staff.
  4. Yeah, the whole vibe in the stadium reflects your last sentence and the team is still playing sloppy with no clear system after 9 pre season games. I wonder if the staff actually have a reason for conducting a practice session other than to put on a show to media. Secondly, do they actually watch game tape or are they just too busy trying to show the league how clever they are cause at this point, the only preparation the staffs seems to be making on game day is on there suits & hair.
  5. Ditto, those coaches you mentioned seems to recognize the roster they are given and tends to create a system that maximizes the talent; whereas, other coaches are too busy working with the GM to look for the perfect player to fit a system. Also, those coaches seems to emphasize playing four lines which leads to a more engaged game day roster.
  6. All roads eventually leads to Green and good point. Would really been nice if they did a coaching change last year to see how that roster will react and before all the off season changes.
  7. Yeah cause he certainly has the distinctive context of having been a BIG part of a perrenial contender in Vegas vs his brief time in Vancouver
  8. Tippett showed what a coach should be doing heading into the last pre season game: sitting his stars and implementing a very structured & boring game strategy to give his less talented roster a chance to win.
  9. I get it and he will be an expensive winger - not sure if JB will allow this
  10. I would really like to hear one day why Schmidt requested for a trade.
  11. After all the roster tweaking - the xfactor is the staff; and so far, they had delivered as expected. Not sure if the 80's Oilers can win under Green
  12. Ditto, practice is where all these questions should be sorted out but sadly your last sentence will be confirmed in a few days - Demko better be ready to play.
  13. I am hopefull cause after tonight's game it is looking like a bottom 10 team and JB will be trading our first to acquire another key player.
  14. The team seems ready for the regular season - bottom 10 finish ?
  15. Yeah and I wonder if there will be anymore Schmidt type request, which supposedly was only a rumour. With hindsight, management sided with the staff & Schmidt went to Winterset.
  16. Ditto and his whipping boy(s) are now gone; so good chance, OJ will be the new candidate for tonight's result. If he is not getting paid for the reasons you mentioned, then what is the reason for paying a staff then ?
  17. Oilers playing with a better structure and discipline (like the Kraken game). What do you suggest is the issue after 9 pre season games - more roster tweaking and/or players not totally buying in ?
  18. Green getting outcoach - perhaps the staff can watch this game and learn something about winning with a good system or at the very least, giving a less talented roster a chance to win against a better roster on paper.
  19. Ding ding - the issue with the constant roster tweaking. Would had been cheaper if they made a coaching change last year and tried that roster with a different coach before all the 'aggressive offseason' moves.
