  1. Imo, the best way: is to call out the BS right away and have some humility if wrong.
  2. I agree: under Shaws' tutelage (good chance) he will outperform the contract or atleast, be solid at whatever position he is put in.
  3. Being an outsider and not knowing what his priorities are - I am not sure if he took a few things for granted; but as a hockey player, he definitely underachieved his draft pedigree (but the overall talent of a draft will have to be considered when discussing EG being drafted at # 3 cause could Tallon had drafted someone else if that player was available at # 3 ?).
  4. Just made a comment about the draft pedigree of players and how it tends to have an effect on the opportunities they get. Also, nothing about any entitlement issue on EG. Mainly, just taking and already clarified.
  5. Missed the sarcasm; and I agree - we are all different but everyone is susceptible to flaws of being human.
  6. You might on to something (?); but EP seems to be an exception (up to this point) cause of the the way he earned his opportunity from the first shift I saw him play - he didn’t take nothing for granted and on camera he (also) seems to assertively engage his teammates; future Captain Material (?). Edit - only speculating why Lias didn't click with the Rangers - lots of articles in the internet about it and draw your own conclusion.
  7. Good chance, it wasn’t his peers who chose him rather it was someone with a title. Ditto, it will be hard to want to be his teammate after this stunt - he got paid by padding his stat and now he expects everything to be kosher (?).
  8. You are so right - it is always about the cup and in this case, it is about Edlers’ cup.
  9. I do wonder if he has put in any work off the ice into developing some chemistry with his linemates or team mates - cause in my opinion, the quality of the on ice product is a direct result of the work one puts in off the ice (Tom Brady). He seems very entitled and unlike EP, who engages his linemates and works hard to earn there trust.
  10. Just like Gudbranson - it is only his draft pedigree that is keeping him in the league; he seems to have the talent but his attitude (based on the rumour) seems to be a very entitled one. With that attitude, he won’t go far in a team sports environment - glad the Canucks took a very driven EP over Anderson.
  11. As an adult - I prefer Chappelle’s version of Sesame street
  12. Good points; and it also takes a lot of luck for a team to win - especially, when it comes to injuries or things outside of human control. With hindsight, last year was a struggle from the get go and for the coming season, it is still all projection on paper with no real guarantees; except the percentages of the Canucks contending for a playoff spot has drastically increased as a result of all the moves. The X factors in all of these is the coaching staff and IF the new players will click with the staff & the locker room (?). With so many new players coming in, the pressure is now on the staff to put it altogether and outside of Shaw & the re shuffling of duties - it is still the same staff minus Brown. Green should have no more excuse with personnel - either he gets exposed or he adapts ?
  13. Just like the Oilers during there dynasties in the 2000's: were they were winning the Lottery cup multiple times - the leadership in Buffalo are probably full of relatives or friends of the highers up.
  14. Imo, Shaw is the most important addition in the offseason and I really hope he can deliver (?). Based on some of the articles I've read, it seems (just like Clarke with goalies) he was (also) consulted about the defenceman(s) they had targeted in this off season. Cannot wait till pre season - exciting times to be a Canuck fan.
  15. Last years roster underperformed and (imo) it reflected the inexperienced of the coaching staff. A coaching staffs job is to maximize the roster despite the talent level. My main point with the comment is to point out the importance of coaching and winning. Also, I didn't say anything about JBs' offseason. On paper the Canucks should contend for a playoff spot but there is a reason why the games are played on the ice and not on paper.
  16. Acquirng players is just one part of the equation and (imo) the other part which is more important - coaching.
  17. Had high hopes for Mallet. Kidding aside, Mallet is one of Gillis' pick during the time he was trying out the theory of drafting older/more mature players, with the thinking that they are closer to playing in the league - theoretical vs reality.
  18. How Surrey/Victoria or as far north as Prince Rupert are probably good locations for there ECHL team.
  19. Good chance, EP & QH priorities are mostly, focus on being the best & helping the team win; BUT THERE IS A REASON WHY THEY HIRE REPRESENTATIVES TO LOOK AFTER THERE BEST INTEREST. It is (mostly) the savy agent, that JB has to negotiate against and it is all about securing a deal for the most $.
  20. Kudo's to the owners but let the team go through the complete cycle rather than taking shortcuts - hopefully, this offseasons' gamble pays off (?). These next few season there will be alot of expectations from top to bottom and anything less than the playoffs will be probably mean more futures are traded.
  21. Good looking starting lineup - if it stays healthy; the glue will be the system in place, were (even) a depth guy can be a short fill in and the team doesn't miss a beat.
  22. To answer OP - on paper the Canucks should contend for a playoff spot, but the games are played for a reason. Hopefully, the coaching staff delivers, the roster stays healthy and some luck for good measure.
