  1. He was playing for a contract and good on him - all the best !
  2. Same argument as Tas (same person or know each other ?) - so given the context of my respond to him and my question: did both teams take same amount of risk ? Yotes wasn’t going to get the best out of two unhappy players; and I would argue, that Keller is (at the very least) there best player. I agree, the Yotes is obviously a Bettman team cause the mismanagements on local level is ridiculous
  3. It would had been one year of pain to clean up his mess - rather than a few years walking on eggshells hoping that everything goes right or end up being in the same situation in a few years. But who knows, Green might put it altogether.
  4. They ve been wanting to get rid of there commitment with OEL and based on the rumour Garland was not happy there as well; so they weren’t going to get the best out of both players. They got a soild prospect, a second round pick and a lot of cap space moving forward - how are the risk taken by each team similar ?
  5. I have similar concerns about OELs’ fickleness when things are not going his way. Like I stated before, the Canucks took all the risk and down season in the foreseeable future would be disastrous - pressures on Green cause on paper the roster is a lot better.
  6. Injuries, is the one thing that is hard to project when acquiring player(s) - hopefully, through proper training & etc, we can actually enjoy watching these players play - rather than the last groups of FA’s JB had signed. Imo, a team should be very hesitant giving any term to a 30+ complementary type player cause the style of play that got them an NHL gig (in the first place) tends to be really hard on the body; if I am a GM, I would only offer a bunch of 1yr prove me type contracts - to keep the player motivated (instead of partially being in retirement mode). I like the direction that JB has done (this time) by acquiring & signing complementary players that are entering their prime years cause good chance, the Canucks will be getting there moneys worth this time with Dickenson & Garland - fingers crossed, that the Canucks curse will take a few years off. Definitely, the pressure are on Green & Friends but Clarke & Shaw should offer some hope.
  7. Pfft - all RFA’s can be offered sheet. My guess: The smitten Rags just can’t move on.
  8. Yeah: on paper the team is better; hopefully Green can put it all together and have these guys playing & winning together on the ice (?).
  9. Yeah, the whole deal hinges on OEL regaining his form or close to it - still overpaid.
  10. Good chance, there was an understanding between Francis and some of the GM cause his pick from Carolina (his old club) was a little of a head scratcher with Bean being available. Perhaps for a future favor.
  11. Perhaps a few 5th/6th/7th round picks - JB seems to prefer these rounds anyways. At this point three 5th round picks would be golden !
  12. Look forward to all your write ups - as the forums go to when it comes to prospects.
  13. Great write up; but given the current moves the Canucks had made there is no chance the team will ever be competing to draft in the top 5 in this draft or any draft in the foreseeable future - unless it is by accident. Also, I had resigned myself to accept, that for these next few years the Canucks will not have any picks in the first till second rounds - at the very least; so finding late round gems is what we can really expect, as a fanbase. This year they had concentrated in Gradins' neck of the woods (one of the the Canucks better scout) and I wonder where they go next year ?
  14. Imo, it's time for one of them to take it on but it will be up to the individual & the locker room. A much more important form of leadership/mentoring in sports are the coaches and I am looking forward to what Shaw can deliver on this end.
  15. Yup with all the new pieces - how Green makes this roster win together is the wildcard....
  16. Career year ?; since he will be playing for a contract or he just fades into the sunset with his retirement money.
  17. The leadership was getting stale (imo) and it was time for BB, EP and QH to take some of the leadership role on the team since they are the face of the franchise. Lots of options: BB, EP, QH with the young and Myers, Pearson & etc.
  18. Good take. Pessure is now on Green to put it together but it seems JB is still not done; imo, alot of things have to go right but on paper the team is better. Looking forward: to puck drop and how all these new pieces will win together.
  19. Yeah, keep moving forward and treat each season as a chance to win the cup - from a fans perspective, it is more exciting than going through a traditional cycle of rebuilding for multiple years; but the cost in futures is high and hoping for JB to continue with his drafting mojo in the late rounds.
  20. All the best to everyone involved and hopefully both can move on - sad ending to JVs' Canuck tenure but this is to be expected.
  21. Cbj did very well and on paper the Canucks are better. Hawks in the loser category.
