  1. Yeah, I remember the day and I was trying to be optimistic about the deal - have the same feeling about this deal and based on the rumour the twins had a lot to do about this one as well (?). Twins hired to be a scapegoat when this doesn’t work out ?
  2. I wasn't going to bring up the LE & twins connection but good chance, they were being consulted during that time cause they were a big reason why they had signed LE to that deal; and with hindsight, LE didn't earned the opportunity to play with the twins. This deal -.risk wise - is so one sided cause a bad season is not really an option; and it seems the Canucks leadership fell in love with idea. As a fan, I am just waiting for this aggressive offseason plan to complete before making a conclusion but this is not a good start cause there is alot of things that have to go right for this deal to be worth it - imo. Yotes ownership & management trolled the Canucks so much and it worked
  3. Not really concern with Shaw too much cause he has alot of examples were he was successful developing a player and a system; whereas, Green & Friends - they are still developing
  4. Yeah, I heard this whole thing live when the trade was about to be announced - the redflags are quite concerning given the contract but if the Twins has vouched for him, then maybe they will help mitigate any issue(s) (?) that was mentioned by the local reporter. How this turns out will now be associated with the twins.
  5. Imo, based on his inability to backstopped a stacked Swedish team in the WJC was perhaps a good reason to avoid him - perhaps just like JM, Wallstedt has all the tools but he is missing the mental focus when it matters the most. Watched him intently in the WJC and he reminded me Loungo in the 2011 finals - a great regular season goalie but not a championship goalie.
  6. Just google about him and there was a lot of discussion about him yesterday. Also, it seems the Twins have vouched for him - excited about the season and fingers crossed it goes well.
  7. Good context - hoping that the deal works out long term cause the deal mainly hinges on OEL regaining his form. It seems lots of tweakings are still to be done till puck drop in the pre season.
  8. Been listening and reading alot of the opinions on this deal and despite the hype there is an lot of nervous energy associated with this deal for the Canucks. The Canucks took all the risk and the pressure is now on Green to put it all together cause having this next season turn out like it did for Calgary (after there big offseason last year) is not an option.
  9. In the end, with big money all can structured to be profitable to the main holding company. THIS WHOLE DEAL WILL DEPEND ON OEL NOT TURNING INTO LE 2.0
  10. It cost the Canucks a 1st, 2nd and a lot of cap space to fix his past mistakes (looking forward, I wonder how much it will cost to fix the OEL contract - if it becomes stale). Still waiting on any potential Schmidt trade. Also, Dickson & Garland are RFA’s. The numbers don’t work long term - LE 2.0 ? My summary - the Yotes gained picks and a lot of cap space moving forward. Still having a wait & see approach cause lots of moves are potentially still being worked on.
  11. For some, the taught of a (pre retirement contract) OEL playing D with the Canucks is just to enticing. Hopefully JB doesn't fall in love with the idea and takes on that disastrous contract.
  12. Yeah; and about this trade - Arizona taking on salary for a 2nd & a 7th; whilst, they want assets for a regressing OEL - go figure but I get it cause Philly gets the cap space & salary relief from a player that is not a fit in Vigneaults' system. For now (and perhaps the foreseeable future) cap space will become more of a priority due to the economic downturn; and good points.
  13. Yeah, when you travel - it becomes noticeable the differences in the culture of each cities. Just like AG: JV is done in Vancouver due to the stigma of his allegation(s); PR department will be making another roster decision.
  14. Some owners are probably starting to hurt due to the economic turn down.
