  1. Yeah, the Habs only real chance was for Price to continue his level of play and for there hot streak to carry over into July.
  2. A player under Green & Baumers tutelage.
  3. You obviously, like OEL and I get it. At this point, the team still has alot of unaswered questions: if Shaw can actually make a difference and the roster spots of the unproven youths are still in limbo. Also no guarantee, he will perform here - Schmidt; and would (preferably) like to see what Shaw can establish first. The comparison to LE is not limited to only LE - I would add, JMs’ uptick in performance (2.5 years of Vezina level) leading up to his (big) FA. He was able to elevate his game prior to the contract and why not afterwards with the same coaching staff (until this year when Tocchet was fired) ? Another point about McDonough: (imo) Yzerman made the deal with the Rags (a deal that included Miller) when the Tampas' core proved they were ready to compete; at this point, JB should just continue to build the core & depth through the draft, save his cap and only add when the core can prove it is time to add If Shaw is able to make a real difference off the ice; the roster buys into his/new system; and has a strong season then look to add a player that can complement the core. Perhaps after a year with Shaw, some of the (still) unknown lottery ticket(s) like OJ & the rest of the youths will be answered (?) - making an (overpayment) OEL type deal moot.
  4. Tampa is not (openly) trying to trade McDonough - so I don't know what your are trying to say; whereas, the Yotes are desperately trying to rid themselves of this deal. As for OEL: if the Yotes will eat 2 million of that cap hit then a (very big) maybe - if I am a GM, I wouldn't touch the deal & the player at all cause (IMO) he reminds of LE, who had his best years prior to his retirement deal and has regress since he signed it (seems to have character issues as well - LE 2.0).
  5. Yeah, media credibility these days are (pretty much) non existence and they only have themselves to blame. Like I stated before, the only exception will be the one's that have a good reputation(s).
  6. Yeah, if Yzerman was our GM - good chance, he would be giving the Yotes the finger; unless they add mulitple sweetener for that albatross & head case (pouting after signing his retirement contract - then why sign it ?; reminds me of LE a few years back). He (rightfully) earned his retirement contract but he has to accept the stigma that comes with such an overpayment. Imo, JB should continue to build the core & depth through the draft and only add when the core can prove they are ready to compete - not.before. Also I would argue, when the core is ready players like QH & EP will be asking JB to add.
  7. Yeah, the model of league parity is working and the big market clubs (most Canadian cities) are still making tons of $.
  8. Good chance, thus will be his best year as a Canuck
  9. Wonder if Bettman will create a penalty for teams abusing the LTIR ?
  10. If the Yotes are serious - I would offer Schmidt and LE or Schmidt for OEL & a 2nd or LE for OEL & a 1st. That contract is like milk - it is already starting to spoil.
  11. Can this rumour just die cause nothing about this acquisition makes sense long term for the Canucks - his stats has been regressing ever since he sign his retirement deal. I wonder who is keeping this rumour alive - Arizona (who desperately wants this off their books and has the audacity to ask for assets) or his agent cause he is no longer happy there; then why sign long term (seems like a head case). Hope JB is not serious about this - unless it is Schmidt for OEL only.
  12. Let see what Shaw can do with OJ first.
  13. Those players you mentioned reminds of Harvey to a certain degree.
  14. They had Lou on board and He chose someone he can mold instead - from a Canuck fan POV, he made the right choice; and he probably taught a few years of Lou would be enough for Dubas to become Lou 2.0 .
  15. Yeah, the list is endless and it can also work out as well or in some case for some players it doesn't matter at all; but for the Schmidt types - there success seems to be system dependent (he will probably want to go to a contender that employs a system very similar to Gallant; perhaps JB can work out a deal with the Rags ?). The rumour (based on Friedman) that he didn't even have his exit interview seems to suggest that he tried to talk to management about something and when nothing happened - then he requested for the trade. Imo, the Green & Baumer resigning was a no go for him; and hopefully, Shaw can convince him to stay despite his desire to go (?).
  16. Yeah, something to pay attention if the picks will match his profile when he was a player.
  17. If they are picking a Defenceman, I hope Shaws’ input will be considered and sought after.
  18. I wonder, if we will see Harveys footprint with this draft and how it will compare to when Brackett was here ?
  19. Good take but you forgot to consider the coaching staff, that will determine how these players will be used and deployed.
  20. Good chance cause there is no consideration on the coaching staff and there tendency - a player that is successful in one, doesn’t guarantee that that player will thrive in another; just look at Schmidt.
  21. These proposals are approved in the world of Video Games were a reset button exist.
  22. It seems the re signing of Green & Friends was the nail in his tenure with the Canucks; hope Shaw can convince him to stay. Ofcourse, this is an assumption but he did struggle in Green or Baumers system.
  23. Which ever team, Maroon ends up on, will have a good chance of winning the cup - three straight for him !
