  1. Kraken will perhaps be building through the draft since the fan based in Seattle is more used to hockey as opposed to (spoiled) Vegas fans.
  2. Yeah, it will interesting to see how FICKLE that fan base is. George McPhee is very experienced GM but he seems to fall short: Capitals and now Vegas.
  3. Team of Destiny - everything is clicking for them; and that MAF gaffe changed this series for them. Last Canadian team to win a cup on the back of an elite goalie (Roy) and led by a defensive coach in Burns. I remember that run and alot of things went right during that run as well - team win on the back of lights out goaltending. Vegas seems to be on there way to a rebuild - right after signing AP to a long term contract.
  4. The Habs d core have made his antics redundant. Bully hockey only works when the other team is trying to play by the rules - gentleman's hockey.
  5. Good take, i also have alot of fond memories and to compare it to now; it seems like it was from another life.
  6. Defence is a priority but (as important) is the structure that Shaw & Green can implement. He is an intriguing player for a middle to bottom six spot but he (obviously) wants minutes and Green has a tendency to shorten the bench; at this point, it would probably be prudent to spend the teams finite assets on D, unless, they are ok with LE, Rooster, Beagle and JV.
  7. If they had a season like Calgary with the offseason they had, you might be right or Green will be replaced by Shaw. JB better not make the same cap mismanagements again.
  8. Imo, (on the ice) the Oilers had no goaltender to build around, if they did the result(s) would (perhaps) be very different; whereas, the Canucks , they seem to have a goaltender (in Demko) that can grow with the core. Off the ice, is where I would (mostly) blame the dysfunction.
  9. Watching the presser, it seemed very underwhelming and vague on some of there answers - perhaps a good way to start by tempering expectations. I wonder how long this experiment will last; but I still hope this is the first day of a loooong & successful career with the Canucks.
  10. The team has fully bought in to Ducharme - that in season, coaching change showed the players that management is all in (for this season).
  11. Yeah; been noticing this trend with both the Laffs (first) then the Habs - perhaps JB should look at these opportunities before the price changes instead of overpaying for players that are only good at faceoffs on the ice but have the GREAT INTANGIBLES off the ice. Imo, JB & his team will have to do a good job selling the core/team to these type of players to get them to agree below market.
  12. Imo, there are five things: 1. Having a management team that is decisive and not afraid to make a change when neccessary: coaching change, trades and FA. 2. Having a good mix of new & experience in the coaching staff matters. 3.. Don't trade an unknown lottery ticket: Sergachev (OJ for the Canucks). 4. In a losing season, it is prudent to bottom out, trade assets for picks; and play & showcase the future. 5. Cap management: most of the cap should go to core players and not to support/complementary players: Staal and Perry. Both are ex first line players (that can mentor a young core from actual experience) and were signed to short & cheap contracts. For the most part, the Habs seems to be the team of destiny this year cause most of Bergevin's moves turned to gold, (the in season) coaching change worked out, the MAF gaffe happened at the right time & changed the tone of the series against Vegas, Price is playing lights out at the right time and so on....
  13. Good point; I really hope they both become the Canucks version of Sakic for the AV's or Yzerman for Detroit & so on; and a no brainer move for Aquaman with alot of (potential) benefit. Would be interesting, that two people filling two separate roles and both can just naturally work together without the DRAMA that comes with working with somebody.
  14. Imo, working in the locker room and in the office has different kind of politics; we will have to wait & see how they navigate through the politics and how effective they can be - time will tell and it doesn’t have any biases. Wish them well and at this point: they both deserved the opportunity and bringing them on board was a no brainer for Aquaman - GCG !
  15. I get it; and it will mainly be up to Bieksa - if being in management is something he wants to pursue. Interesting you brought up the Deadmonton situation, perhaps the Canucks management can look at that situation and learn from it cause I mainly attribute there failure(s) to having bad leadership and Holland is somewhat having a better approach through patience. At this point, he seems to be content on just being a TV personality.
  16. Having charisma is a big part of being a leader and (imo) it will come down to Bieksa - if this is something he wants to pursue.
  17. Some have it in them already - they just need an opportunity. He seems to have the leadership part (already) and does not back down when pushed - like on the ice and even during the intermission show. Perhaps he can follow the Cam Neely career path (briefly coached as well) but this has to be something he wants to do.
  18. Like I said, the Sedins addition is a no brainer but Bieksa as team president would be a BIG BOY move. Boston has the identity of there team president - Cam Newly; two players that bleeds the colors of there teams (imo, Bieksa should be in the ROH, not for his stat but for the way he still loves & represents the team and he was also one of the more recognized player of that era).
  19. Sedins move is an easy & safe decision for Aquaman but Bieksa for team president would be a BIG BOY move by Aquaman.
  20. Bieksa = Neely for Boston ? Imagine the Canucks having the team identity of Bieksa.
