[Report] Canucks announce coaching staff updates
ShawnAntoski replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Imo, just like Schmidt, Cernak seems to be a player that thrives in the Tampa system cause LA did not know what they had with him (this is why they hopefully play OJ before trading him). Hopefully, Shaw can identify players we have in the system that will do the same while the on ice system gets re vamp. I agree, Cernak based on his performance with Tampa would be a good add but not sure how he would had done under Greens/Baumers system. -
Will depend on who there GM will be - if it was someone like Lou with his track record, there is a good chance it will be handled well. Imo, it would probably be best to pass on these players until the Young core of the team has established themselves as the leader of this club - too expensive to acquire with no guarantees of not underperforming (Skinner).

I get it and hope you're right (?). I agree, that there are things to be excited about: the emergence of EP & the other young core and the addition of Shaw seems to be much a needed addition to a still evolving staff. Hoping for a very shrewd approach in the offseason and let see how next season turns our with Shaw as an associate coach to Green cause the roster tweaking is/are about to start - fingers crossed.

Hope he gets the necessary icetime (?); or they trade an unknown lottery ticket that has the potential to be a top 4 d - X factor is Green; hopefully Shaw gives him a legit chance.

Yeah, the yearly results don’t have any biases but the lecturing from the winning culture crowd will tell you that tanking are for losers and will spout out numerous failed top 3 picks with out mentioning the Hedman’s, Kane’s, Crosby’s and so on - that has won the cup or is competing for a cup (MacKinnon). Ofcourse, there are the disasters that are Buffalo or Deadmonton and there are also the other side. Imo, when it comes to the draft the overall talent of the draft will have to considered and when it comes to the reasons why some teams fail & others not - then leadership (including the coach) will have to be considered as well when discussing these topics.

It doesn't benefit the league if, Seattle would struggle from the gate cause when the nostalgia is gone - the league will have another Yotes in there hand; whereas, with Vegas' success it has certainly created alot of fans from a non hockey market - but the true test will come when there competitive window closes.

If JB is able to sell the team to RNH or Reinhart and convince them to sign a one year deal to see if either one can be a part of the core - then why not. Long term, it would probably be best to see how the team will do first this season before committing or spending any future assets: picks & prospects (kinda referring to the Laffs signing of Tavares coinciding with the ending of the big three's elc cause with hindsight, they would probably had been better off passing on Tavares and spending on the core & goaltending.

[Signing] Oilers re-sign Devin Shore

Yup, signing a goalie they can build around will do more for them than re signing Nuge; now the Canucks should offer Nuge a one year contract to see if he wants to be a part of this core. -
Yeah, you don't meet in a motel/hotel to have bible study - what a sad situation.

Good take. From the Canucks POV, it will come down to the fans (or mainly the season ticket holders) appetite if they want JV on the team. It seems the PR Department will be making another trade; wishing both parties all the best.

Perhaps Baumer is just chiming in; kidding aside, Shaws' signing seems like a good add to a staff needing some influx of experience or just a different perspective. Also, I commend Green and JB for clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of each. Time for the roster tweaking to begin - fingers crossed ! -

Great interview and good perspective(s) - hopefully they keep it together when the team struggles. Hoping for continued growth from Aquaman to the players. -

This point is the true test of how good a coach is cause it is the job of the coach/staff to maximize a roster by creating a structure that maximizes its potential despite the talent level. For years, it seems the staff has been trying to force the players into roles rather than the staff making adjsutments to fit the given roster; I was expecting JB to be tasked with the impossible of looking for players that will fit Greens system rather than the best player. Hopefully, the players buy in (?). -

Great post and Shaw hopefully will temper JB in this offseason - fingers crossed, that JB doesn't go shopping with an empty stomach. -

This is a normal case due to inexperience, when it comes to managers/coaches. Baumer (and to a certain degree Green) getting demoted will hopefully help him continue to evolve cause Green has already ok'ed the addition of Shaw by (implictly) admitting he needs help in becoming a better coach. - true test will come, if the Canucks ends up having a season like last year or like the last few with Green & friends. Seems to be a good mixture of youths & veteran in the staff (really liked the interview) - expecting alot from this addition; hope they keep there picks and don't trade too much of the future for the present. -

Big reason, why I have not seen an intermission show for a few years now.
