  1. I realize that Seth Jones is a franchise type defence man and he fills a need in our lineup. With the flat cap - it would probably be more prudent to first, hire a coaching staff that is (at the very least) capable of building an effective defensive system - despite the talent level before commiting to a player; and ending up with a Schmidt type situation: Vegas vs Greens system. Also, Jones probably benefitted a great deal with Torts defensive system. Not confident that this current staff is capable of building a system that doesn't depend on stellar goaltending every night or (at best) a system that is suited for playoff hockey - hope I am wrong cause even a talented player if misused and inserted in a scheme that doest fit his style will struggle.
  2. I wouldn't go so far, as dirty cause I would not want to defend a douche teammate - especially, if that teammate was trying to hurt an opposing player and in the long run it only attracts the wrong thing to the locker room. My point, hockey is a team sport and (more so in the playoffs) - it is about sending the right message at the right time, regardless of the Zebras/ the league cause eventually, the message will get around the league.
  3. Yeah and the Podz signing is the nail in the coffin of the JV saga - all the best to JV !
  4. Ditto - just a matter of time, that Edler is coming back and OJ will be riding the press box bus or the bus to Abbotsford.
  5. Hopefully, when JV gets traded for peanuts - OJ doesn't become Greens new pet project...
  6. Rather see the kids play but he will get re signed for nostalgic reasons.
  7. JV saga is finally over - all the best to him in his next stop ! The Russian tank has arrived !
  8. An older Edler - will be resigned and playing big minutes.
  9. Wait a year and lose $ instead of overpaying for him and giving CBJ any assets- no guarantees he signs - after being exposed to Greens system (perhaps why, the Schmidt rumour of wanting to get traded was getting out). The NHL is not a video game - there is no reset button. Edited.
  10. I get it and let's hope JB can find more opportunities like the ones you had stated.
  11. Good take -same treatment or opportunities given.
  12. Ditto; and (imo) you draft the core players and the complementary players are acquired (through trades or FA) - only when the core is ready to compete not before, for mainly mentoring reasons. Looking at the cap, a good percentage of it is going to non core players and hopefully JB, will spend or trade finite lottery tickets when needed - and not before. We’ll have to wait and see - aggressive offseason = more of the same, hope not ?
  13. Yeah, when you sign a player that player is pretty much guaranteed a spot - unless the player pull an LE; and even with an LE, the contract status alone will mean numerous chances to get in.
  14. Yeah, context is very important when discussing teams successes/failures - hopefully, Aquaman & JB will look into the history of these teams as they go into this offseason. Imo, a more tempered approach to save cap in the offseason and if the team is competitive then add a player next season or wait till the frenzy is over.
  15. Good read and you got paid as well - nice ! Yeah, MacTavish would not be a bad pick unless JB trades it or has someone else in mind.
  16. Speaking of Chara, if he is a FA - might not be a bad idea on a cheap short term deal to mentor a vet - Myers ???
  17. Yeah, hope they pass on these players (for now) and just give the internal options a legit chance to be a part of the team; a time will come to add but now is not - imo
  18. I get it and if true - did Green really develop the core or the core just forced themselves into the lineup ? Mind games - these are the kind of games that tends to have more affect on the prospects rather than being part of a team that is going through a losing season.
  19. Yeah, perhaps the President of the Green fan club cause (imo) the core developed despite of Green - by forcing themselves in the lineup and the ice time earned allowed them to get better in the NHL; rather than (the Staffs preferred method) of learning by watching - just an observation based on game day rosters & TOI.
  20. The number seems minuscule/irrelevant and this reason seems like a lame reason to justify him sitting (I get it - JC is a RHD and Green prefers it this way); and still heading into next season OJ is still a question mark - due to limited playing time and JC with the extended looks like an AHLer (imo).
  21. From the outside, there are players in this roster that the staff will never sit despite the on ice performance and there are his usual suspects - that are always on a short leash. Most of the young core forced themselves in the lineup and didn’t even give Green a chance to sit them: BB, EP, QH and Hogz; OJ was just not noticeable enough to not sit. Hopefully, OJ doesn’t become his new - development - project once JV gets traded.
  22. Yeah, despite playing a vet lineup for most of the season the season - it still turned out to be losing season; would had been prudent to accept the losing season (early on) to play & showcase the future but I get it - have to win those loser points for the sake of winning culture !
