  1. So an (extended) rebuilt based on your opinion - seems like they have been stuck in retooling mode for awhile now. Luckily, JB is good at drafting with no top 3 pick.
  2. You keeping track of my post ? I taught a staff is hired to maximize a roster despite the talent level with the purpose of winnning ?????
  3. Yeah, the end results; and as much as someone tries to dress it up or explain it through some stats - it is not bias and the eye test on the ice indicates the struggles the team has ie: exiting there zone when the other team increases there tempo/pressure or depending on stellar goaltending to win games and etc. Imo, stats are a great tool but it depends on the person interpreting it and what variables are being used for the stat - a good tool but only one in tool box a good GM/coaching staff will have. Canucks record under Green; also of the bottom 5 - only the Canucks have not chosen in the top 4 or Canucks & Yotes in the bottom 10
  4. Nobody wants a rooster turned turkey; I initially, expected alot from Rooster to be Burrows replacement.
  5. Yeah, as a Canuck fan there doing fine and hope they go for another aggressive offseason like last year.
  6. Yeah, but this market seems to get attached to players and management knows this - so no chance, the twins are getting traded, even if the other team was offering McD.
  7. Ditto; and with Calgary - supposedly - shopping Monahan right after last years spending spree shows that the strategy doesn't guarantee anything; hopefully, it will be a warning to Aquaman & JB, when going on an offseason spending spree cause (imo) it is only an expensive band aid to cover up for any mismanagements and to appease the fans in the short term. Very anxious about this offseason but nothing I can control cause I really taught - they were moving on from Green (based on his overall record) and the re signing means more of the same strategy with the added twist of a new cast - at what, cost ?
  8. It seems the Flakes are rebuilding; right after there spending spree last year or perhaps just a retool ? If they are rebuilding then hopefully, the Canucks can learn something from there situations - a spending spree in the offseason is just an expensive band aid for the most part and JB tried it with complementary type player a few years ago already.
  9. Brandt is now a pipe dream but we got the loser point for the sake of - “winning culture”
  10. Ditto, he reminds me of the Dos Equis actor in there commercials and with hindsight, the strategies failed for the most part on the ice but some of the things off the ice - he deserves a lot of credit for. Hope Aquaman & JB can use the knowledge from his tenure to benefit the team long term
  11. Yeah, drafting and development is a more sustainable model. I do remember Gillis being upfront about a new drafting strategy that he was excited to implement: drafting older player(s) with the assumption that they are more closer to the NHL; and with hindsight, results long term was disastrous. My point, the players he inherited allowed him to do some experimenting and based on his actions when it comes to prospects & development - it was always an after taught cause he didn’t have the prospect pipeline (that JB has built) to fall back on; and continually using finite draft picks as currency does not lead to long term success in a cap world.
  12. Yeah, some fanbased are more understanding & accepting and those teams - more than likely, has atleast one cup; and for the perrenial losers, some context will have to be considered why those teams are the way they are: the leadership group, the reasons & what process was used to make those decisions - Aquaman, JB & his team would be wise to look at those teams histroy (from both sides) and try to implement them during this offseason for long term success.
  13. One factor to consider is the fanbased (or season ticket holders) when discussing this issue cause (imo) this market is not so accepting of the tanking or rebuilding model due to the stigma it has of creating a losing culture - just look at the discussion during the season ending series with Calgary and how important the loser points are to the teams morale. My point, other teams fanbased are more accepting & understanding of this strategy for long term success; and most teams that employs this strategy will have a higher probability of winning a cup or more.
  14. It seems the great debate between the two GM'S under Aquamans leadership are - Gillis has the trophies and JB has the draft picks. Gillis benefitted from previous regimes and JB had to deal with his mismanagements. Long term, JBs' ability to draft well is a great benefit to the team (hope he wins with his core) cause having a good prospect pipeline is more sustainable than Gillis model of building a roster through trades & FA. Perhaps, instead of hiring a new team president, they can (in the short term) focus on hiring a new set of AGM's - just like with Green & his assistants. Imo, it will be JBs young core & draft picks that will give him the one trophy that trumps all of Gillis and this achievement will hopefully, finally put an end to this debate. Really hoping, for a balance approach in this very (important) off season with some reflection of past mistakes cause the team is close to competing and continueing to spend a good chunk of the cap on complementary players is a losing strategy, as we had seen. Also, it would be interesting to see if Green will make some adjustments cause that is a system - that struggles when the other team start pushing hard (playoff hockey and Vegas) or JB will be given the very difficult task of looking for player(s) that are a perfect fit in his system - imo, a good coach is able to maximize a roster despite the talent level (just look at the difference with Schmidt in Vegas vs Greens/Baumer systems). Just based on the discussions I ve read in multiple forums and talking to other fans - it seems that there is no (real) appetite for a tanking strategy in this market (perhaps among the season ticket holders) and Aquaman knows this. Those 3 loser points against Calgary dropped their draft position from 5 to 9 - I get it; and hopefully JB continues to draft well.
  15. RIP - Chris Farley, one of the best ! Another legend and may he RIP as well !
  16. Yeah the offseason movie is about to start - hope it has a good ending (?)
  17. Aggressive = Desperation - hope not ?
  18. Hope JB continues his draft mojo & some teams goes off board.
  19. Imo, there is no appetite among the fanbased (perhaps the season ticket holder ?) to tank in this market; not sure, if you had noticed the (sometimes heated) discussion in this forum of the importance of getting those loser points against the Flakes - winning culture ! Also, good chance: Sutter & Edler are signed for nostalgic reasons (?).
  20. Yeah, more of the same cast (hopefully most/all of the FA'S walk) but hoping for a different result.
  21. I get it but the yearly results would sill be comparable and it would had been prudent to give the young players a chance like other teams in a losing season. I would argue, that most players would probably be unaffected (for the most part) cause they can just focus on getting better for the next season ; and are probably be more understanding of the situation - Mikey D got hammered during his first game but the experience gave him an idea of what he needs to work on to play in the NHL.
