  1. Sesson ticket holders, that sells tickets on game days ? Regardless, if they just did a more patient approach from the beginning, good chance the fans support will still be there cause despite playing a vet laden line up the yearly results are what it is; and the only good part is - watching the young core develope. I would argue that it would probably had been the same yearly results if they would had stuck with playing young (low cost) players for highly paid underperforming vets - hindsight.
  2. At the very least, there are the moves a GM would (hopefully) do in a losing season but (for reason) thats not the case with the Canucks - for the most part.
  3. Yeah, the success of the process seems to point to the leadership and what decision(s) were at the time the issue was identified - some leaders can draw from experience or an inborn instinct called foresight or both (if lucky). Imo, a good hockey executive has to be a student of the game and with it - the respect for the game to make the hard decision(s) for long term success. Most often these executives are initially vilified in the beginning but in the long run - they eventually gain there reputation. At this point, only the cores continued developement and the influx of cheap (but legit) prospects into the lineup are the main reason the team is still trending in the right direction.
  4. Yeah, will have to wait and see, if more of the same ? Looks like more roster tinkering are coming and hope it will be players that will be compatible in his system cause the system is not changing. Just not optimistic about Greens system - especially, in the playoff were the game is more intense. Hope I am wrong with this planned spending spree due mainly to the cores development regardless of Green.
  5. Yeah, will look into the Blue history abit more.
  6. Great context & points: I had also been looking at a few teams history with there rebuilds & retool. Interesting, that you mentioned the Bruins cause it seems that despite Chiapet, it was really the two AGM: JB & Donato that build that roster; and with the Canucks the two AGM are: Weisbrod & Chris Gear - seems to be the same situation with the staff and the Assts supporting Green: Baumer & Brown. I don’t know too much about Gear but he seems to be in charge of contract negotiations due to his legal background and Weisbrod is more of a known commodity. Ditto and I did mention the one caveat that might buck the trend for the Canucks is there young core & prospect pool. Just hoping for a balance approach and some reflection of the past when making any trades or signings.
  7. Hope Aquaman, JB and the rest of the front office will look into the history of other teams that had chosen to go on a spending spree in the off season at the cost of unknow lottery tickets in the form of prospects & picks. Some had said that it takes drafted players 3 - 5 years to be fully NHL ready but there are also the chance a drafted player can buck the the trend and give the org an impactful player on the cheap with out overpaying for it through trades or FA - I get it, it is about the percentages. The Laffs seasons under Burkie till now can perhaps offer a glimpse of how this offseason will eventually end up in full (organizational) rebuild in the end; although, the teams young cores will probably be able to buck the trend (?) and keep it inline with JBs' timeline cause just as the case, with the Canucks when Burkie came in the Laffs prospects pool was bare and there was no young core to build around. Sidenote: One of Burkies' first move was to trade two first for Kessel (21 yr old at the time) which resulted in a #2 in 2010 (Seguin) and #9 in 2011 (Hamilton) as major parts. The Bruins team that made that trade (also) included JB as one of AGM, perhaps he can look back at that transaction and see how it benefitted the Bruins roster long term. Just hoping a for a balance offseason; and I understand that there is already a very similar post but would like to see others take - given my post.
  8. Yeah, this aggressive off season reminds me of the Laffs seasons under Burkie who was task to retool the Laffs and one of his first major move, was to trade for Phil Kessel for two first rounders (#2 in 2010 - Seguin and #9 in 2011 - Hamilton) as major parts - just seems odd that JB was part of the Bruins executive team that made that trade. With hindsight, that failed quick retool, still ended up in a full (organizational) rebuild until they finally drafted 1st on 2016 - Matthews. Imo, the one caveat, is the Canucks young core and if they will continue to trend in the right direction to be inline with JBs' time table ?
  9. Yeah, the yearly record has no bias but the one thing to consider with the puzzle (as I have stated) are how the season ticket holders are affecting Aquamans decisions ?
  10. Great back and forth - imo, the rookies who gets minutes in Greens system are the ones that forces there way in the lineup - regardless of Green; players in the young core didn't even give him a chance to sit or miscast them - they were ready to take a spot from day one & recognized which players they wanted to play with. From an outsiders point of view, I dont really believe Green had anything to do (much) with there development cause with the minutes they were getting/earning they were able to continue there development on the ice (rather than marinating in the bench) and figuring it out with there peers - just natural leaders and time to give this young core the chance to be leaders; instead of wasting cap space for mentoring or sheltering; since most of these players are already pro ready & (good chance) they will figure it out on the ice. Probably fair to speculate, that there is alot of talking behind the scenes concerning JV'S role in the roster but the game day roster & deployment are still on the staff. From the outside and with hindsight, this situation is no different from a foreman giving a grunt the short stick just because; JV should had just focus on what he can control & not (even) given Green any space in his head but his tenure with the team is already done due to the stigma of the allegations. Hope he does well in his next stop and becomes a better person more so.
  11. For those assets with a 2 million l/yr salary retention - why not, get Bertuzzipunch punch the phone number for the Yotes GM.
  12. Great points This past season would had been a great chance to play & showcase the future but I get it: there is no appetite for tanking in this market and despite playing an (underperforming) vet laden line up for most of the season - with hindsight, it still turned out to be a losing season. Not sure Green will be keen on playing a rookie laden line up cause based on the presser this 'aggressive' offseason might push that projected contending window down further. Hope Iam wrong but hindsight has not been kind to teams that had committed to a very similar approach in the offseason, for the sole purpose of a quick turnaround.
  13. Is Weisbrod in charge of Pro Scouting cause the other AGM - Chris Gear is the head legal counsel or team capologist ?
  14. I agree. Imo, the season ticket holders seems very impatient and is unwilling to accept a full rebuild - probably the group of fans that has a direct line to Aquaman; and the one group that he is willing to listen to & will try to appease in the off season (?). Iam not confident any of young prospects will be given a legit chance under Green - unless the rookie forces his way into the roster, the way: BB, EP, QH and Hoag. Just hoping for a balanced approach, with the eye on the future cause the Kraken are looking to contend. Aquaman has gone through this with Gillis: for short term success at the high cost of future assets and long term mediocrity - hindsight...
  15. Curious to find out what they mean by an aggressive offseason and what it will cost in future assets ? So far, (imo) most teams that makes statements like these - don't really do too much in the long term, at a high cost with very limited short term success. The last team I can think off that made a (very similar) promised for an aggressive post seasons was the Laffs with Burkie (with the high cost of four 1st rounders for Kessel) and after a few years of fake contending they ended up firing Burkie; then ended up going on a (more) extreme type of rebuild: from management to the players This offseason plan, seems like a plan that was tried before at a high cost with the end result of a full rebuild; but this young core might be the difference maker to what the Laffs went through ? Saad on a two at 1-2 million might be a good if Getz is not an option.
  16. Been saying it for awhile - jusy something I've noticed with how the Laffs are filling there rosters (due to Dubas' cap mismanagements) & how they are complementing there four headed monsters but even this loop hole, will probably get expensive when the agents start noticing a pattern.
  17. Yeah, a Getzlaf on a cheap short term deal (just like what the Laffs are doing) - an ex first line player that can actually mentor from experience with the added bonus of not just being good in face offs
  18. Great points - hopefully Green will roll four, despite the talent but three rather than the usual two can only benefit the team
  19. I get it Imo, as proven by the young core these mentoring type vets are not needed as much as most people think. These young player just needs ice time and they will figure it out on how to win with there peers cause imo, most of these young players are already pro ready; and with the cap, most teams are getting younger - so good chance they will be playing among there peers anyways. If a vet is needed then sign one on the cheap or do what the Laffs are doing by signing ex first line players to cheap & short term deals; that can actually mentor from experience and with the added bonus of not just being good at face offs. If those two wants to stay they can sign them as coaches cause an older Edler and (more) injury prone Sutter will just be taking up cap and minutes. In the end, (good chance) they will get sign - for nostalgic & great intangibles reasons (to probably appease the season ticket holders, who probably has meet these two).
  20. Ditto; but good chance he gets signed for the very important nostalgic & great intangibles reasons - the Green resigning was cringy enough and an Edler resigning will mean more of the same.
  21. Ditto, on Sutter and (imo) you can include Edler as well.
  22. Just my impression after watching a few games and the WJC - he is still very young but he wasn't a difference maker in that very talented Swedish team but he is still eligible for the tourney and hope he improves. Ofcoirse, nobody knows the future and I hope he fulfills the hype of being a future franchise goalie cause everything is in place for him.
  23. I get it; and this off season, they will be aggressive so good chance, Reinhart or a similar type player will be a Canuck (hopefully, he will live up to the hype and not be an overplayed dud) ? Hoping for the best, this off season cause the Kraken is coming; and based on the very generous expansion rules with an experienced GM, we might be witnessing a team built on different principle(s) & have a Vegas type trajectory - but who really knows cause it might turn out to be all hype ?
  24. Yeah, if not for those loser points with Calgary - they'd be alot closer to the top 3 but I get it. Preferably, hope they go after Reinhart in FA rather than giving the Sabres any assets for one year of Reinhart...
