  1. Yeah, it is the players who will ultimately determine the tenure & legacy of the coaches - hopefully, he will continue to evolve and learn from the past. It seems enough players fought for him to be brought back - good on him.
  2. Great points but the yearly results is a great indicator of how a team is progressing cause it has no bias - just results. Ofcourse, with hindsight & context the yearly results can both be criticized & justified. Imo, the fan base (or a majority of the season ticket holders) will not accept the team from bottoming out and Aquaman knows this - so I will not be surprised if, Aquaman & JB continues to transact the way they had. Hope I am wrong, that the Owners, JB and Green will continue to evolve and learn from the past (since 2014 - 2015 season, the Canucks have the 6th worst record in the NHL and they have not drafted higher than fifth & Aquaman, is always spending to the cap - baffling ?
  3. Good points and forgot about Seattle -so fifth spot before the three points. My main point, is that the stigma of tanking is not acceptable to teams fan base and the owners know this fact; so the chances, of the Canucks ever getting a top 3/generational talent in the draft is slim to none - imo. Ofcourse, moving forward the draft rules (more so) will have to be considered now when taking the tanking approach; & (to a lesser extent) the overall talent of the draft, if it is worth it for the team and the backlash that comes with it.
  4. The owners and management will not allow the Canucks to truly bottom out cause the fan base (or just a majority of the season ticket holders) will not allow them to do it cause of the stigma: that tanking accepts a losing culture - these reasons are perhaps the reason why Aquaman & JB continues to transact the way the do. The Canucks will never do a proper rebuild by bottoming out cause the owners know there is no appetite for it in this market & morale victories from these meaningless games are more important than potentially drafting a top 3 player (for long term success) ie: those three points points from the Flakes series dropped us from 5th worst to #9 (and with it the lesser chance of winning the lottery). Other teams (like the California teams) are already transitioning there rosters by accepting that bottoming out is just part of the competitive cycle a team goes through; whereas we are continually in the mid to upper bottom feeders range when drafting - hopefully, JB continues his draft mojo, some teams goes off board and the lottery finally falls our way (?). Someone posted that since 2015 the Canucks have had the worst record in the league but yet JB has never drafted higher than fifth - Canuck luck (?) and late season winning streak in a losing season.
  5. Great context ! Is he related to Craig Mactavish ?
  6. But yet for some reason the team has never drafted higher than fifth (during that period) and with this (very familiar) late season winning streak, the team is drafting closer to the tenth pick - hopefully JB continues with his draft mojo and some teams go off board with there picks. It seems obvious that ownership is aware that the fans of the Canucks (the vocal ones) are not very accepting of tanking cause of the stigma it carries as accepting a losing culture; this is perhaps a big reason why Aquaman (who is always spending to the cap) has not fully accepted a full rebuild since JBs’ arrival and tends to meddle. At the very least, winning these meaningless games makes the fans feel good in the short term - more of the same and HOPEFULLY this is the core that will be hoisting our first cup ?
  7. Yeah - thanks @Goalie13, for helping make this season alot funner !!
  8. I watched them play there whole career from the time Burke made the trade till there last game. What I meant is a Ryan Reeves type reaction when someone is using your face as a punching bag. I am not taking anything away from there many accomplishments, there tenacity on the ice (probably your version of biting back ?); and much respect for how they conducted themselves on & off the ice - true gentlemens ! My point, winning the cup is a battle and (imo) that 2011 team that went to the cup was a very talented roster (perhaps the most talented in Canucks history) and they were beaten down (more so) in the final series against the Bruins - who were obviously playing under a different set of rules.
  9. We obviously see things differently; I am mainly just coming from looking into a few teams tanking history with the primarily focus at Pittsburghs' history were they purposely tanked twice to get generational talents (Lemiuex and Crosby) for long term success (ofcourse, the draft rules was different back then but the purpose remains the same). I guess that model works for them & there fans. I get it - other teams & there fans are more accepting of the qoute: short term pain for long term success; and it seems this fan base are not; perhaps with enough years & hopefully with this core we will finally see the team we love win a cup. Imo, opinion you don't have to build a dog $%!#! roster to purposely tank - a team can just play like it is in the all star weekend; still put on a show and provide some drama for the local media (just observe how Calgary has been playing these past two all star games against us). You must be pretty naive to think the California teams are not tanking; also LA still has a solid set of older players and they are doing worst than us. Good chance, the California teams will be ready to compete in a few years with a new set of top3 drafted core players. Very good chance, Nucks win there last game - GCG !
  10. Thats your take but plenty of teams had tanked and are still reaping the benefits of those players for a few years of tanking. Ofcourse, you can bring up the Oilers & Sabres but how about Chicago & Tampa or even Pittsburgh with how they acquired there core players. Currently lots of teams are still fighting for the top3 spots in this draft; are there players very different or are they just doing there job ? Imo, players have short memories and they understand it is a business; and good chance they also understand that these games are just about padding stats & meaningless morale victories for the media & fans.
  11. Players understand the business of sports (more than we do); players and good chance the Canucks win tomorrow.
  12. Yeah, it is baffling watching games from different states in the US and how different each ones are to each other - go figure ?
  13. Hoping for a lottery win is the only chance to draft in the top 3 cause it is very important to win these games for team morale and developing a winning culture; whearas teams other teams are fighting to draft in the top three spot; so they can expedite there rebuilding periods.
  14. I get it another game of tag - go waste your own time; moving on..
  15. Imo, Binnington and that big & nasty d core was the reason they won the cup; with some timely scoring (mostly) from there playmakers. Whats your point ?
  16. Yeah, that should be Aquamans priorty rather than these symbolic announcement(s) - if true.
  17. Yeah, it the vets Iam worried about cause despite the staff icing a vet laden lineup (for most of the year) the team struggled; perhaps the underperforming vets could use some mentoring...
  18. Havent you not realized yet that with JB - forget what he is saying but watch what he doing instead...
  19. Care to explain the difference between the two (hope your not referring to recap penalty Loungo) ?
  20. Not bottom feeders but mid range bottom feeders due to the desire to win these meaningless all star games....
  21. Yeah he still mismanaged the cap by overpaying for the four headed monster but atleast (my point) is that a majority of the cap space are going to productive players and not great intagibles & face off players - I get it. GCG !
