  1. LE is who he - (fill in the blank), just have to wait until his retirement cheques are finished. Selfishly, I hope he doesnt win with this group but cant really blame him for signing the contract; least he could had done is to probably re-invent his game to atleast put on the impression he is trying to earn that contract - (fill in the blank). With hindsight, what was JB/management thinking (or not thinking) by giving him term - smh.
  2. The agents and desperate GMs will perhaps find a way to screw it up (again) for everyone - all it takes is one
  3. Great choice (wink wink) for choosing this fan base to start your journey - hopefully we get a cup before you guys do (I REALLY HOPE). All kidding aside welcome !!
  4. They’ve been drafting top 5 and rebuild for awhile. I wonder how many of these top 5 picks will stay after there elc are done ?
  5. On paper the Bluejackets did very well but there is no guarantee that Laine will stay there. Wpg had no leverage with Rosco & Laine cause they wanted out - luckily for them PLD wanted out of CLB (just signed for three years). Sidenote: I remember that draft and that was the draft were Wpg moved all the way to #2 (should be our spot based on the standings) and we fell to #5. Also, that was the draft were JB really wanted PLD but CLB drafted him and we ended up with OJ; with hindsight probably not a bad trade off cause OJ is still with us, with his development curve more inline with the teams compete window (plus at a lower cap hit)....
  6. Good point but it is probably time to find out what we have in Demko...
  7. JB has himself only to blame but letting CT and JM go at those prices is the right move long term. Choosing a cheaper but unproven Demko carries a lot of risk but the only way to find out if he is a keeper or not is to just play him now in this shorten season and the same goes for the prospects. Currently, the season seems like a wash and would probably be prudent to play these rookies to see if there is something there or move on and replenish the prospect cupboard.
  8. With hindsight, JB definitely shot himself in the foot with his past signing - hopefully he has learned something and the only way to find out is what he will do moving forward. IMO, any more roster tinkering cannot fix the structure and strategy being employed by the team on ice cause even the new players are struggling and CT (as one example) seems to had integrated himself well in Calgarys’ system - imo.
  9. Despite the result tonight, just hoping for a team that battles together and plays a discipline style of hockey by doing the basics well. The sloppy play are costing us games.
  10. It is ok to disagree cause it is my opinion and this is yours based on your experience(s). I do agree that there is a time of adjsutments to be expected and everybody is different (no matter what the job is) but like any other employee the expectations and directives are set by your immediete leadership(s) and ofcourse it works better in paper compared to actual applications. Imo, the sloppiness in there current play and the way they are losing reflects on the coaching staff much more so than anything else. Plus I don't see any real difference between a Pro player compared to any fast paced corporate setting were you are getting paid well to be a Pro - you either adapt quick or they moved on from you. I would argue pro hockey players would have a much higher expectation to perform due to the high acquisition and deployment cost. Also not giving up on this shorten season yet - CGC !
  11. Well said and I had been saying pretty much the same thing cause it seems the coaching staff had platued with this team.. Currently, it is looking like this season is a washed (but a losing streak can change all that), I would hope they play the rookies more in all situations to give them that legit experience that they needed for next season...
  12. Did not say anything about Covid & etc. - just stating that the staff could had done a better job preparing the team better to play a shorten season. The only thing in there control is preparing the team to battle by setting the expectations and strategy to be employed. Plus based on how the new players are performing it shows any roster changes will also struggle playing in the system currently being deployed by the team - imo.
  13. Good points but my opinion on the staff is just my opinion and I expect alot more from a team startegy point of view cause of the very nature of pro sports as being very structured and in the end it is about the team that can quickly adjust & adapt to the situation that will generally have a better chance of winning. As stated the players can only control the execution of the strategy but the strategy being implemented on the ice is on the coaches - perhaps Schmidt and Hamonic are taking some time to learn how to play in Greens system (?) - who really knows cause they look very different (esp Schmidt) as oppose to there previous team (perhaps this is who Schmidt is - an avg player and Vegas just knew how to utilize his talent to help him play above his talent level ?). Does talent in a roster make alot of difference ofcourse but it is the team strategy or sturcture being employed by the coaching staff together with the talent that determines how successful the team will be and who puts that altogether - imo, it is the staffs job? Ofcourse, a valid argument can be argued that the players should not need to be motivated cause they are being paid to do a job but just like us working stiffs we are (also) paid to also follow our leaders/boss' directive. The way they are losing right now is very concerning and I put that (mostly) on the coaches as not having a great structure around the players cause it is the staff that should set be setting expectations. AS STATED THIS JUST MY OPINION ON WHAT I EXPECT FROM THE COACHES. At this point regardless of the result, I just want to see a team that battles and plays discipline hockey on the ice by doing the basic things well and that would indicate (at the very least) some direction from the staff that something is being done....
  14. Did not watch the game and your summary somewhat indicated that they are still working through something. At this point regardless of the score, if the players can (at the very least) focus on playing discipline hockey by doing the basics well - will probably help more get them through this losing streak rather than doing anything to drastic: roster changes cause the players are not in charge as to what system is being implemented on the ice - only its execution. Since this is a shorten season with the playoff style schedule (playing same teams 10 times) it will be hard to battle back if they continue with this trend of sloppy play; biggest bright is that instead of 82 games of misery it is just 50+ games and a potential lottery pick (hope the team breaks the lottery curse). Imo, the coaches seems to had platued with the group but who really knows - looking from the outside in. GCG !
  15. The rest of the Canadian teams staff had/will become very familiar with our staff tendencies...
  16. Iam leaning more to the system being implemented cause Schmidt was a very different player in Vegas..
  17. BATTLE FOR THE BASEMENT !!!!! Did not watch the game - anybody care to do a quick summry: is it more of the same sloppy loss or were they more discipline in this loss ?????
  18. Imo, the staff seems to had plateud and no player(s) will change the style being implemented on the ice...
  19. Baumer was probably headed in that direction but (perhaps) like his coaching career - instead of pushing through - he simply plateud and accepted it (?).
  20. Despite the result tonight, if the team can play a discilpline style by playing good fundamental hockey will atleast be alot better than lossing the way they currently are.
  21. Aquaman might not have a choice cause the way they are lossing should very be concerning - perhaps the new guys and rookies are taking some time to adjust playing in Greens' system (?). This is a shorten season and if they dont get it together in 10 or 15 games it might be too late. Alternatively, if they go in a winning streak then that might change the direction of there season but it might be extra hard this year cause they are playing the same teams 10 times and so far they had struggled against those teams; lets see how they look against the young Sens (?). Imo, the plan for a quick rebuild did not really pan out cause despite there standings they dropped in the drafts (JB has nevet drafted higher than fifth) and it was only the drafting of EP and QH that had made those lean years salvageable (I would include BB but he was drafted late in the first). Also, JBs' free agent signings are still having a negative affect on the cap right now and his past trades had also caused the team draft capitals - ofcourse with hindsight it easy to criticize those moves but with some context those same moves can also be justified; I hope JB has learned from his previous years and would become a more prudent GM when trading and signing FAs. The team is still trending to compete but right now they are sloppy and with the playoff style schedule (playing the same teams 10 times) it is exposing alot of the coaching staffs tendencies PERHAPS if the the staff can atleast impose the importance of playing discipline hockey by having the players (esp the new additions and rookies) focus on the fundamentals they might have a better chance of winning - very sloppy hockey right now.
  22. Would Baumer or Brown as Head Coach suffice for you ?
