  1. Friedman is on fire tonight - liked how Stewart reacted to the hair comment but I liked what he said about Hoglander, "earning his spot".
  2. Been a sloppy game from both teams but I will take the win - GCG ! McD has missed alot of chances but we seem to match up well against the Coilers despite the two Superstars
  3. With the two goal lead, hopefully Green doesnt shorten the bench to protect the lead.
  4. Green reverting back to his prevent type strategy to protect a lead - Holtby will have to close this out.
  5. The playoff experience was great for our young team and coaching staff - both the players and staff are still evolving in learning how to win together. Looking forward to a great season (whenever it starts) from both cause it will be a battle getting into the playoffs and during the playoffs. GCG !
  6. No way to predict the future despite all the technology, methodology and etc, they are all just a form of risk management - imo. Management and the staff have a better idea who these players are and how they fit and the only real way to find out is to put these rookies into those situations - perhaps during training camp and make them EARNED THAT ROSTER SPOT but I am not so sure that Green is willing risk his tenure or future opportunities with a bunch of rookies. Perhaps the rumours are being spread to prevent any complacency from any players trying to earn a spot. Hope our prospects are aware that they will have to REALLY earned that spot to get it.
  7. The Vegas series exposed a few major flaws associated with the roster and the staffs tendency to play a prevent type style when the team is leading in the third - imo. The affect on Vegas' confidence was not really about some amazing strategy that the Canucks was employing (cause Vegas' strategy of heavy forecheckin was working) but rather it WAS THE AMAZING PERFORMANCE OF DEMKO. The Canucks during the St Louis series was mostly (imo) about them burying there chances against a struggling Binnington and if Binnington was not struggling with that defence & there style of play that series would had been a different story. The addition of NS is great for the d core and hopefully it will allow the staff to employ a different strategy when protecting a lead in the third rather than defaulting to a prevent style strategy which in the past cause them to over deploy certain player(s) - Edler. Really looking forward as to how the staff will utilize this re vamp roster.
  8. There is ofcourse a level of risk going with our d prospects due to there inexperience but these prospects (esp Rafferty) seems to be very much aware of the opportunities available in our d core and they are coming in prepared to earn the opportunity. The real question will be - Green and if he will be willing to risk his tenure/next contract with unproven rookies. His past of strategies of protecting a lead going into the third has led overplaying certain players: Edler and depending alot on JM to close the game. Some team (namely Vegas) seems to had recognize this tendency by our coaching staff to over play certain players & employ a prevent type defensive style in the third to protect 1 point leads to close out games.
  9. The Laffs roster and the Canucks roster are not the same in there makeup - the Laffs (imo) dont play cohesive hockey. It will be a battle getting into the playoffs but this teams young core seems ready to battle. I wonder if the coaching staff can keep up with the developement of our core players ? Cant wait for hockey season - GCG !
  10. Yeah that Vegas series showed some of the flaws in the roster and coaching stlye in last years team...
  11. Great points but one bright I see by playing our young D prospects is that Demko will get alot of action; hopefully, with the increase in shots it will built up his confidence cause the physical attributes, skills and work ethic are already evident. Plus, with the addition of Holtby and the support of Clarke - will hopefully be enough to make up for any struggles that Demko might go through (?). I would (also) argue, that the success of this re-vamp roster will also depend alot on how Green & the staff will deploy and strategize to compensate for any issue(s) with the roster.
  12. Good points, I would assume it will the locker room that will ultimately determine how long his legacy will be with the Canucks. Given the current circumstances with the virus & etc; a one/two year contract (imo) to see if he & his staff are able to evolve there strategy/coaching style to match this very competitive and maturing core. Then if the locker room will play for him and succeed then he and the staff would had earned a longer contract (if they are willing to stay and win with this group of players).
