  1. It seems LE has no pride and only $ & cents on his mind - two more years of uninspired play then he is gone. I really hope LE, does not win a cup with this team.....
  2. Good point: the story might go away publicly but has the situation/person really changed - ?. Also, I wonder how being dropped by the Yotes or perhaps potentially losing a career in hockey be affecting him (although, based on public information he has no one else to blame but himself) ? After the public shaming is over then what; perhaps with the Yotes someone could had mentored him ? What a sad situation !
  3. Reading thru the thread - what a sad situation. As stated by another poster (paraphrasing), hope by being cut it will help him reflect and do the right thing. Not sure if he realized that being a pro athlete will put your life in a very public space....
  4. Laffs are fine and should continue with there perpetual mediocrity..... It will be fun competing with the Sens !
  5. Good discussion ! If I am GM, I would be very hesitant signing a player (unless it is an elite player that consistently performs) that had an uptick in level of play heading into FA that had no real history of performing ie: JM and LE as Canuck examples. Most I would offer would be two at most with some cost - especially, if the player is 30+. This is were drafting comes in and I am glad that JB (despite not drafting higher than 5th) was able to build a good & solid young core through the draft.
  6. Giving this scenario, Sakic is perhaps going for it this year with this roster while Makar is still in his ELC.
  7. His/this story is now very public and there is no place for him to hide (especially, if so keen on becoming a pro hockey player). Imo, let's give the Coyotes a chance and see what they can do to help both parties gain some closure..
  8. Good point(s). Imo, fans should stay out of this and let the affected parties deal with this sad situation themselves - privately. Assuming, he makes it to pro hockey (NHL or somewhere else), there is a good chance that he will be asked about this situation by someone in the locker room or etc- either way, he will be dealing with this situation. Perhaps in time both parties can find some common ground and finally move on with each one of there lives. Kudo's on Meyers-Crothers for speaking up !!! Hopefully, by speaking up, his healing can finally start and he can move on with his life - despite what Miller will or not do....
  9. Wonder how LE, is handling the adversity of being overpaid, joking aside, (I agree) some adversity is neccessary; like Dipietro with the rough start vs the Sharks only made him focus on what it takes to be an NHL goalie by giving him a taste of the big league. It really depends on the person.
  10. Hope Ferland, would focus on his health cause regardless of whether, he is on LTIR or playing he is still getting paid.
  11. Good deal: gets him signed till after next years RFA's and hopefully this contract will allow him to prove himself. Glad he is continuing his developement with the Canucks. GCG !
  12. The back and forth was going good for a moment and crickets . Oh well, cant wait for the season to start and hoping to see a game live....
  13. The Haks are fine and these Chumpions should finish there career with the team that signed them to those contracts.
  14. Probably, beside his ability to see the past and predict the future, he is also able to clone himself !?
  15. Meh, in my humble opinion, Sakic was somewhat pressured to make a trade cause he would had lost him to FA and based on some of the rumours he would had gotten more if he was able to sign & trade him. We will just have to disagree and move on. Laffs also got Kerfoot as a decent mid 6 player.
  16. Some context on Poile : he has been a GM for almost 38yrs (15yrs with Washington and currently 23 yrs with Nashville). Imagine, this OP if JB was given that much time to build a team - this thread will be a hundred pages long of bias history on both sides. Hopefully, JB will have won some cup(s) within that period to satisfy the haters.... Perhaps, the reason for the other GM being discussed is because (using hindsight) you are only complaining about our current GM and have not provided any names as to would had been a better hire to deal with a team that (your beloved) Mike Gillis had left.
  17. Wonder how Sakic will manage all these young talents and fit them under the cap. Will they be willing to sign a Mackinnon type deal or get traded for less than there value like what they got for a free agent to be Tyson Barrie.
  18. Wonder how Stevie Y will manage the champs cap situation which he helped create instead of an already rebuilding Wings with prospects, young core players and cap space in placed - good situation to start off with ? So far in Detroit he has drafted 4th and 6th.
  19. We will just have to wait and see with Stevie Y in Detroit but Holland had left him with alot of pieces to work with terms of: prospects, young roster players and cap space. Also, the wings were already starting there rebuild when Stevie was hired instead of retool for JB. Perhaps, it would be more interesting to see how an experienced GM such as Holland will fix a very top heavy Oilers team with no cap space and an avg prospect list. So far (like JBs early years with Canucks), he has been doing alot of moves to clean up what he had inherited (Lucic) and in some cases overpaying (Anthiasou trade) in trades to create a succession plan to complement his current core.
  20. Dont hold your breathe for that and instead just find a way to enjoy the finish the product on the ice that our current bumbling GM had created. Just wondering, where is the Green bashing - lol - cause isnt he an important part of the equation: JB acquires the players and he is in charge of how they are used/implemented..
  21. As stated before the OP, had already taken a side - fire JB and hire him as the GM with all the answers (oops, I meant anybody else that is not JB). JBs young core is trending to be very competitive in the next few years and in a couple of years the bad contracts will be gone. Hopefully, by then all of the important RFA's are signed to long term team friendly contracts, current prospects had earned an NHL spot and the prospect cupboard is once again replenished for next competitve window. Personally, I am looking forward to next years team to see how the young core will do with the new players or you can miserably/reluctantly cheer for any success cause it would make JB & "his cronies" look good. Round and round ..........
  22. Lol, video game GM'ing with the benefit of a reset button and Franchise mode.
  23. Well said but some credit should be given to him for acquiring some of the main pieces that went to the 2011 finals.
