  1. My point: injuries will happen and the margin the FO are currently working on are so thin cause they are still currently capped out and we saw how a significant injury affected this season. Anyways, the team is at best a WC team (not a Cup contender) and a playoff fodder.
  2. According to capfriendly they will only have 6 players signed and 30 plus to play with. It still seemed they will be close to the cap, unless they magically win in the lottery and add a legit piece on the cheap or they able to find more of Aman and Joshua types. Although, seeing Joshua and Aman play significant minutes in the top 9, is not a good sign. Ofcourse and good chance, the roster will be somewhat different next year
  3. I did and good chance they will still be close to the cap when their FA's are signed. I get it you are ok with the current strategy of chasing the mediocre middle and hoping to get lucky in the playoffs vs building up patiently.
  4. I was just there and your overestimated figure didn't include OELs' boat anchor. And you avoided answering my questions cause good chance, they will still be up to the Cap when all their FA's are signed - . Nice try - lol. What happen to the 2nd part of my response ?
  5. Care to summarize and when is this going to happen ? Educate the sheeps ! 2025-2026 ? Also OELs' boat anchor is not included in your 35 million space cause he is currently in the LTIR Also, who will be the FA's that will eat up most of that cap and how much of that 27 million (included OELs' anchor) will be left ? Refrain from the sarcasm cause it says alot about you.
  6. So far, where are they in the standings - despite the great pieces ? Ofcourse by next year, all the drama would had been forgotten. Hoping no injuries will happen to derail your projections cause the margin of error the FO, has given themselves in a hard cap league is very thin and we saw that this year.
  7. Good pieces but as a group they have produce mediocre results. How about injuries and regression due to age/attitude (OEL) ? No guarantee, Hronek will click: remember Schmidt. Then what will a capped out team do ? The team has been very shortsighted since the days of Gillis and the same plan to chase the playoff $ vs a Cup, continues for short term profits Plus, both Hronek and EP will be needing a contract at the sametime and what will be the cost for opening cap space to keep them ?
  8. There was never a rebuild just a bunch of failed retools. What Yzerman is doing in Detroit is a rebuild. Which players did the Canucks sell high on - besides Bo cause they couldn't keep him due to being capped ? Also, when did the team shed any significant salaries during that period ? A rebuild doesn't have to take 10 yrs, just look at what LA had done: it all depends on the owner and the FO. The Canucks are constantly chasing the medicore middle cause of the playoff $. And even if it takes,10yrs and the team has a legit contender instead of a one & done roster, why not. Ever wonder, how the Penguins, Lightning & Av's fan are feeling, right now or how about the Detroit fans under Yzermans' patient build up ?
  9. This is what happens when a FO, is being forced to chase the playoff $ and thanks for summarizing it. Every year, the team is spending futures and cap space to chase the mediocre middle.
  10. I dont fault the Tampa FO for squeezing as many Stanley Cups, as they can from the Stamkos core cause of all their investments in keeping that core competitive. As for the Canucks, it is about chasing the playoff $ or short term profit vs a Cup.
  11. Francesco owns a conglomerate and the money can be moved around depending on the jurisdiction, so I don't think Francesco is NOT losing any money. Plus, with a legit contender, a new sell out streak will start and all the SUPPOSED LOSSES will be replaced quickly. The Canucks, is not a small business...
  12. All good points - but you miss the biggest x factor in a season: injuries.
  13. Francesco said it in this article: https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/569255 Cause the playoff chase strategy, is really about chasing the playoff $ strategy, at whatever cost. Plus, Francesco is still profitable despite, the mediocre results.
  14. The team and season ticket holders are ok, with the current strategy of chasing the mediocre middle cause it is still very profitable vs winning a Cup. Nothing will change and the gamble on Hronek for a capped out team proves that the strategy to build up a roster since Gillis has been the same: FA & trades for futures. Having a prospect pool is the hedge but Francesco wants the playoff $. I wonder who/what will be the cap casuality: selling low on Boeser, extending OEL's stay in the books through a buy out, trading premium picks to clean up cap mess (just like JB) and etc ? Been the same movie since 2013 and the downside to the current strategy of chasing the playoff $ or the mediocre middle, is what we are all seeing now. Anyways, the feel good meaningless wins to rise to the mediocre middle, in ANOTHER losing season will continue...
  15. No guarantee Hronek will click but chances are good, he will do his best - as he heads into his RFA. Will the RFA carrot be enough to keep him focus and become a difference maker ?
  16. Big IF cause the team is still capped out. Anyways, let's see what happens and how they will open up cap.
  17. Well said and the winning streak to rise to the medicore middle, is nothing new...
  18. Is that Francesco ? Anyways, that is one tough hombre and kudos to him for getting up ....
