Have you given up on this season. Let's take a poll!

Hmmm that’s strange. I’ve never had that problem and I’ve recorded probably over 1000 games over the years I’ve had a PVR for with Shaw. Though maybe that’s because I don’t select “record series” for sports games, I search through the games and select record for each one I’m interested in like the NHL with Vancouver Canucks playing. Do that maybe once a week, haven’t had a missed game ever, only missed parts when the match goes wayyy past scheduled end time. -

Don’t know how to quote from a different thread, but this is what I said after NJ: I think they were listening. StanleyCupOneDay Posted Tuesday at 09:34 PM We need D-men who actually you know shoot the puck in the offensive end. Far too easy for opposition if they don’t have to worry about one or two of the point men knowing they’ll never shoot. Remember Salo, Edler, Ehrhoff, Bieksa? They could score and meant the opposing team had to always cover them, which left more open ice for our forwards to capitalize. We were a tough team to beat back then. Nowadays everyone’s trying to pass the buck instead of taking the initiative: get the puck to the net. That’s it, that’s literally the secret to success and no one seems to grasp it on our back end. I have no idea why no one is shooting on our D, it’s extremely frustrating and leads to predictable failure. 1st goal: Defenceman Hughes shoots the puck and Bo tips it into the net. 3rd goal: Defenceman Hughes shoots, it gets blocked by bodies in front, Bo gathers the puck and passes to Miller who has a wide open net. 6th goal: Defenceman Myers shoots the puck and Kuzmenko tips it into the net. We don’t guarantee 2 points tonight if our D-men don’t shoot the puck on net. It sounds so ridiculously cliché, but it’s the really simple formula to win. If they want to succeed this season they need to continue doing so. -

Is he really suited for a defensive center role though? Studnicka fits that role better imo. I’d much rather Aman as a 4C to feast on our opponents weakest line. -

I don’t miss that blurry mess on VCR at all. If the consequences of having a clear picture is missing parts of a few games in a season it’s well worth the trade off imo. -

Studnicka has some wheels, holy cow. We may have finally found our 3C. -

Liking Bear on the backend, determined, gritty, doesn’t give up. Just what we need. He may have made a few errors, but that’s to be expected. Loving that we only paid a 5th to get him. Stillman on the other hand has an apt last name. “Still man”. He’s the new Poolman who basically doesn’t do anything except fill a roster spot. Not impressed at all by his play so far. -

We won it for Juice! A fitting end to the night celebrating one of my favorite Canucks of all time. -

Don’t know who your provider is, but with Shaw you can schedule a program to end up to an hour and a half after scheduled game end time. The only way I miss part of the game is if the baseball game goes 12ish innings or more. Same with hockey playoffs in triple ot or further. It does happen on occasion, but it’s very rare. I use that feature for every sports game I record, very useful. If you sign a 2 year contract you get a PVR to use for free. -
Time to trade our first round draft pick?
StanleyCupOneDay replied to UnkNuk's topic in Canucks Talk
Absolutely not. This year’s first round draft pick could be for the best player in a decade, maybe longer. There is no amount of return that would be equal to the value of our first if we continue faltering. -

I’d personally be torn. Sometimes all that’s needed to get on a roll is some belief and confidence. Winning 4 in a row might get the Canucks rolling. It would be great to see the team living up to its potential that never seems to materialize and would be much more enjoyable to watch. On the other hand I don’t even know if I want that to happen given the approximate 60% chance (I know the lottery odds don’t technically mean this exactly, but chances are high) we get a top 3 pick in the deep 2023 draft (Fantilli, Michkov or Bedard would be huge difference makers on our team and any other year would probably all be number 1 draft picks) in our current position in the standings. -
No, I came into the picture during the Sedin years, but I do know that regardless of how bad this feels right now there were definitely worse time periods for Canucks fans in their history, at one point being a phone call away from moving away from BC entirely, so I try to keep some perspective despite the emotions and frustrations I currently feel as a fan. I’m not completely opposed to trading Horvat, just don’t know if that’s the right move to send away the only guy who’s bringing it each and every game and what message that sends to all the rest of our players.
-
I get feeling snake bitten by how badly Miller’s play has fallen off (I too wanted him re-signed), but Horvat and Miller are not the same player. Not even close. Bo has been consistent since day one. Look at his PPG stats each year he’s been a Canuck. Look at how many faceoffs he takes. Look at how much ice time he has. Miller had one excellent season in his contract year and was very inconsistent before that. Bo wouldn’t just stop playing because he got a retirement contract. It’s not in his DNA and it certainly hasn’t been shown in his play during his tenure here. Whether or not to re-sign him, sure debate away, but having concern that if he signs that he’ll suddenly falloff in his performance? We don’t need to worry about that at all. He plays as consistently well as a Canuck that we have.
-
I have no problem with that opinion and to a degree I share it. What I took issue with was the comment about him being quiet or non interactive on the bench as being worthy to criticize him over. There’s a whole bunch of players that deserve it well before he does. At least he shows up every game. More then can be said for sadly many on our current team.

I was one of the biggest defenders of JB when he was here, but I don’t deny reality. Benning made many mistakes as GM as I’ve admitted repeatedly (he did make some good moves too, but that’s neither here nor there, he’s gone now, time to move forward), the biggest being his seeming belief we could out score the opposition and focusing on adding forwards when we desperately needed defencemen in drafts and trades. However at some point we need to pass ownership of the team to the new management in charge. A year may be too early, but we can’t constantly blame the past GM for the state of the team under the current GM for the next however long Rutherford’s in charge. When that responsibility gets shifted is obviously up for debate and up to each of us for determining what we think would be appropriate. If it’s still a clusterfuck next season then for me it’s on Rutherford imo. 2 years is enough time to mould the team. Just like after Gillis left we couldn’t blame Gillis for Benning’s team in his entire tenure.

That stat shocks me. We do a complete fire sale change in the organization from top to bottom in management and front office after a horrific start last year and acquire a bunch of new players only to actually be worse this year under all the new people. Like how is that even possible? The mind boggles.

If they do something that stupid I’m done for the rest of the season at least. I have better things I can spend my limited time on earth on. I’m not going to put myself through the pain of watching games of the team I love with Yeo as coach when he can’t even freaking do his current job as an assistant. Would be the final straw for me.
